Good tournament overall, it didnt even look like puma was trying very hard against idra though. That or he was just making lots of silly mistakes , wich is uncharacteristic of him. We dont ever really get to See much of his TVZ though, it could be the reason he never did well in korea though besides that one time in the team leagues. I wouldnt be surprised. If he had to go against revival instead of JYP he may not have even made it out of the quarters (and idra probably wouldnt have either if he had to face JYP)

Either way some very uncharacteristic mistakes from Puma, made me think he wasnt trying that hard or something, at least thats how it felt when i was watching it. Idra played well though.

He just played a passive style, the only game where he was clearly making mistakes was game 3 when he kept leaving his depo down IMO.

I don't really like the 1 rax cc into 2 fact BF hellion build though.

puma was dropping ten places at once and all over the map, if you think that a puma wasn't trying you are crazy

starcraft 2 is still young enough that anyone can win on any given day granted they are close in skill level

i'd still rate puma as the best player in this tournament in over-all skill, but to try to knock the legitimacy of idras win is so silly

Well, yes, the players are also people. They make errors all the time and in SC2 there's a ton of errors to be made.

This tournament was full of Koreans not playing up to their potential though, especially JYP, very very dissapointing PVZ by him against Dimaga, the PVZ he had played 2 days before this tournament in the GSTL where he took out 3 zergs in a row was far far more impressive then any of the PVZ's he showed at this tournament, he was probably quite nervous about his first foreign tournament though, or something.

Thank you, i felt the same way about the idra v puma series.

It's the same guy who was constantly going on about how he thought the Puma and IdrA match looked rigged three pages ago. Leave him be.

Figures that the only game IdrA drops vs elfi is on Shakuras. He must really hate this map vs Protoss.

I never said it was rigged, lol. now who's making things up?.

and yes game on tal'darim didnt seem like he was trying his best, what i saw was things him not taking the chance to roll idra on one occasion or him not focus firing a hatchery on 2 consecutive drops. to be honest from watching the replay the feeling I got was like he was teasing idra and constantly trying to play from behind, I KNOW this can't be the case but im telling you that's how bad he seemed to me.

^ Go away, crazy person.

Game 2 was pretty intense. I have the feeling he could have held it if he'd prevented the warp prism from landing, or possibly stack his hydras outside? I don't know, it was a really old strat I haven't seen in ages. Not the worst game to lose though, he tried very hard.

Idra wins a major offline tournament with a ZvP finals.

I asked idra what he thought about that. He said he was sad he doesn't get to beat him in tourneys anymore.

True story.

Hahaha that's quite funny. Thanks for sharing some of your IEM exp and stories with us.

oh god puma walked his marines into 3 banelings while his siege tanks were still alive and all the zerglings were dead, that has to hurt.

I am catching up on the games now, but I am thoroughly impressed by idra's play so far. drops and nydus worms in game 1, uncharacterisitic tenacity in game 2 (anytime he lost his 4th/5th hatcheries, I would not have been surprised to see a gg). in game 3 you could see he wanted to burrow banelings in puma's mineral line but got stuffed. and then puma lost his whole army to 3 banelings and idra doesn't let puma back in the game.

gracken released. I used to be an idra fan, then after being disappointed again and again my expectations basically dwindled to zero. maybe he's found the eye of the tiger.

hopefully the finals are a good series as well, watching now!

First series I have watched in awhile, thank you Idra for not disappointing. The symbolic cheese put a smile on my face and interview responses put a smile on my face.

You should've watched the vs. Puma series instead, was much much better

Watch both series, really excellent and enjoyable play from Puma and Idra. Incredibly back and forth macro fest with crazy multiprong harass and attacks from both sides. Both players seem like they crippled each other so many times in each game and yet time and again one of the players clung to life building a huge army to once again have a chance to contend for the victory.

How the hell did IdrA defeat two Protoss armies like that? Oh my god, what amazing macro.
