elfi is good, and Huk's PvP has never been his best match up (despite how well he did vs MC at MLG).

elfi had a great run in Guanzhou, beating a lot of great players. In qualifying for IEM New York he beat Stephano and Tarson. At Assembly he beat Nada.

All the people calling elfi trash/saying he's bad for cheesing, stop it.

Elfi played better than HuK these games. That's all you should make of it. HuK has proven he's one of the best (if not the best) foreign player. Him losing one game doesn't change that.


In PvP, their recent history would suggest so. At ESWC elfi beat mana in the group-stage and mana beat MC in the play-offs.


Mana beat MC and Huk (x2)
I think Elfi and Huk PvP is on the sama level, but Elfi this time play better.

MC himself sayd at IPL 3 that the excuse "jetlagged/tired" is just an excuse. Fact is Elfi played better then Huk in this series and thats it.

Bring a work quote into a proffesional sport anaylsis is pretty lame.

If your tired in any sport you cannot perform to your best level fact (i guess even at work) but if your tired for no reason of your own (being jet lagged is hard to help when you have a tough schedule) is going to effect your game play on multiple levels, micro macro and mechanics will all be effected. You saw after game 2 he was begining to falter pretty badly. BUT like everyone seems to be saying Elfi > HuK even though one is clearly better at the game than the other :S Makes no sense, no 1 is arguing he won, but he won vs a player who was tired and on paper 100x better than him, why are people jumping on the friggin band waggen saying Elfi is a fkn PvP god, i bet theres fkn Masters players on EU with better win rate than Elfi -_- and Elfi is 60% win rate PvP on the EU ladder how is that even a good argument lol?

And how about that "HuK is 100x better than Elfi bandwagon, sitting comfortably? What I am saying is that in EVERY game where a better player loses to a worse one, there's always some excuse. When a top player loses to a weaker one in a one off game its due to the top player playing alot worst than he does. Its how it all works. If Elfi and HuK ever play again and Elfi wins again, then you have an argument for saying Elfi is a PvP baller and is better than HuK at PvP, but people saying he is better than HuK in PvP or in General is a completly false statement.

They always say winning the League in football is better than winning a knock out competition, as anyone can win a one off game due to multiple UNCONTROLLABLE factors (ie jet lag for todays case) but for those who can win in the long run from multiple games in a league based format (NASL format would be closet we have to this) have a greater reward of saying "Were the best over x amount of games vs everyone and anyone"

Because it's best of 5. You don't play double-elim Best of 5 invitationals, that's just silly. BO5s can drag on for ages, plus setup time for players and scheduled breaks, you can't play double-elimination in that format.


You can run loser's bracket concurrently with the winner's bracket with stations off-stage with a different caster or even off-air if you must. If anything, to do so would at least preserve a justifiable second place finish (I repeat, without a pool system to dictate seeding). I respect that there are logistical considerations but it's not an impossibility as you suggest.

Single elimination with no pool play leads to questionable results, especially 2nd and 3rd places.

Tired or NOT, elfi is nearly 75% PvP on TLPD, and his last loss in boX against toss was in JUNE against white-ra. He IS good. Then again, HuK is good too, no one is denying that.
It's a fact Elfi is veeeery good in PvP, him winning is neither an UPSET nor a GIVEN.

Stop arguing, both are good players, if you underperform because you're too tired, maybe cut a bit into your tournament schedule. It's his fault, no one else's.

Uhm no, there can be games where a team out plays Barcelona without them playing bad. That doesn't mean the other team is better overall but on that day they were.
