The number 3 and 4 of the tournament will get a direct spot in the Grand Finals including a paid entrance fee.

Country Restriction
In order to sign-up your country must be listed here:
- United States
- Canada

Replays

Replays must be uploaded to the match page (not zipped) immediately after the match! You will receive penalty points for missing replays starting at the quarter finals!

Match format
Best of 3 in the all rounds except the finales is played in a best of 5.

In Best of 3 and Best of 5 a map veto (removal and pick) system is used. The high seeded player(seeds can be found at round 1 on the grid page) decides who starts. Players take it in turn removing maps until only three remain, then each player picks a map. Maps are played in order they are picked. The remaining map is played last.

Disconnects
If there is a disconnect in the first 4 minutes of the game and there has been no contact between players, then the game will be restarted.

After this time, the match should be re-gamed unless one player had a great advantage.

If the problem occurs frequently then an admin should be contacted.

If a game is restarted players must choose the same races.

No Shows

If your opponent is not ready to play, 20 minutes after the scheduled match time, then you should report that your opponent is a no show to an admin in the Cup Chat.

Protests
Protests must be raised to admins in the cup chat as soon as possible. Protests raised late, or through the website may be ignored.

Streaming
Streaming partners can contact us via support ticket.

Hosting
If admins want to host the game this will be communicated towards the player via the match page. So make sure you check the match page for admin comments. If an admin communicated a game should be hosted by him, the game is not valid if started anyway.

The reason they gave was that it is because ESWC opened up the event so that players from countries without national qualifiers can pay the tournament fee themselves and enter, provided they are deemed good enough.

There is some speculation as to whether it has something to do with the troubles ESWC has had with finances and payouts though!

ESWC has struggled mightily in the past paying out prizes, etc... and they had a $200 fee to participate or something #_#

for only 10$ u can get a trip to France... that's a very good deal since normally it costs 300x more when you come from USA. And more u can also earn 26k in winning their SC2 event... Don't listen all the shit that people say about ESWC because it's false. USA/CA has his own qualifiers so your aren't concerned by those issues.

lol Napoleon, wtf are you talking about? :D
It might not be that well known in the SC2 community (cuz there were no bw and obv no sc2 tournaments), but i think some CS teams might tell you a different story about the payments in the past^^ (edit: or just google, youll find some results pretty easily...)

either way, what did i miss - since when does the esl work together with the eswc?

For those wondering about boycott, its gone. You cannot "buy in" to the tournament any longer. For those saying the boycott was about prizemoney, it is not correct. Since eswc payed out in very short time last year.
