This is the qualifier only thing important is the amount of players they get on the event itself. Of course this is not the best for the spectators....But lets be honest....its even worse a top tournament like ESWC without IdrA cause IdrA is just a MUST HAVE for any tournament because of his attitude and all the history Lol. People pretend SC2 is a professional sport. In a real sport you'd have suspensions if not bans for that behaviour. In SC2 its ok because its 'just' a qualifier, and also because its better for one of the most popular community players. No need to get into the tournament based on skill, right?
you should only talk about things that you are remotely familiar with. teams throw games all the time in real sports. it is most commonly seen in the nba to snipe a particular playoff seed, but it has been seen in the nfl, nhl, and nba as well. teams bench all their starters and play their backups and get beat easily. and its perfectly accepted. in individual games/sports that competitors have teammates, stuff like this has been going on FOREVER. throwing matches for money is one thing, but throwing a match that means nothing for seeding reasons to benefit a teammate should not be treated as some crime. stop acting so entitled, as if players exist only to entertain you and as if some non-elimination match of a QUALIFIER of a 3rd-rate tourney is the fucking super bowl of starcraft.

Just my two cents. That's needed to keep this EG fan, anyway. Off to bed gl EG in the rest of the tourney.
Lol, Demuslim cant play in the finals so he let idra win. Where does this need a statement with signing...

Well how about starting with why play the qualifier if you can't play the finals.

Lol theres an overeaction if i ever saw one... release an official statement? Its a sucky mistake but it happens. People withdraw from events all the time. IMMVP did inthat chinese tournament that MC eventually won, Sheth and IdrA did it for the iesf tournament, look at the pro-am (not sure if this is the rigthw name) is filled with a ridiciulous amout of no shows. Just the nature of sc2 right now, theres so many tournaments going on its tough to keep track of everything.

one reason would be to get in a situation where he could gift idra the finals. another would be to get competitive experience. a third would be because he was bored and nothing was stopping him.

He didnt know obviously. Seriously you want a signed statement for that...?

Indeed there's nothing favourable for EG in this...even worse... DeMusliM even kick teammate iNcontrol to the loser bracket. You want them to make a statement that they screwed themself? He also won against mass...But lets be honest I don't think that favours EG to much (not to offend mass in any way, but I just think all of the EG players are a bit stronger)

Game 4? Did I miss a game, isn't it 2-0?

That thor saved the day. Trimaster is pretty damn good. QXC did so much damage early and he brought it back from being so far behind. His MLG performance is no fluke.

Oh crap, forgot it was a bo5, we'll have to see if trimaster can close out the series.

The question is what position would Idra have been in if DeMusliM won his Bo5, progressed through to qualify, then didn't accept the invitation? From the screenshot it appears reasonably clear that DeMusliM would have played the games properly if he was allowed to give his qualifying spot to another EG person.
Is this a possible outcome (if I'm reading the tournament format correctly, http://www.nationalesl.com/us/eswc/sc2/sc2_qualification/rankings/) assuming that DeMuslim didn't throw/forfeit any games?
Hypothetically:
Winners Round 3: DeMusliM beats Idra QxC beats Tri
Winners Round 4: DeMuslim beats QxC
Losers Round 4: Axlav beats Idra Minigun beats Tri
Losers Round 5: Axlav beats Minigun
Losers Round 6: Axlav beats QxC
Winners Round 5: DeMuslim beats AxLav
Final positions: 1:Demuslim 2:Axlav 3:QxC 4:Minigun 5:Equal between Idra/Tri
If that is correct, then DeMuslim throwing the games vs Idra has at least potentially cost someone a qualifying spot. (Tri in my example, but could also be Minigun or QxC depending on how the games go).
Again, the assumptions here are that: the 5th placed person would get the spot DeMuslim refused 5th place would be a playoff between the players eliminated in losers round 4, and Idra wouldn't have beaten Axlav in Losers Round 4.
If idra lost WR3 then won LR4, Axlav becomes the one that would have been playing off for 5th and the vacant spot.

Troll or serious? Only Monty Python can achieve such ridiculousness.

Shame that destiny was basically 1 round away from getting a slot to Paris.
but in bigger news ... There is a possibility that we could possibly see minigun at a LAN event ... !!!!

TriMaster is really really slow to take bases.
That's pretty much the major issue in his play I'm seeing so far.

Downloaded an Axslav replay, opened APM tap, Still had 90 APM.
Not slow, efficient

Thanks for the info, pharside. It's still unfortunate, but at least it now makes sense.
If demuslim couldn't attend anyway, why not play goofy games to let Idra get the spot? Sounds reasonable to me.
|
I don't think there's anything wrong with two teammates deciding who they want to advance without actually playing the games (especially when there is strategy involved like pool play/double elim tours). While not everyone shares this belief, I think it should be embraced since of course it's impossible to know if teammates arrange who will win if they put any effort into it.

Can't believe people are still whining about how demuslim threw away the games. He already stated he realized he had conflicts with the tournament date after 3rd game with idra which he thought the series was a bo3 instead of bo5.
In other news , has qxc guaranteed a spot for eswc yet?
