This is the qualifier only thing important is the amount of players they get on the event itself. Of course this is not the best for the spectators....But lets be honest....its even worse a top tournament like ESWC without IdrA cause IdrA is just a MUST HAVE for any tournament because of his attitude and all the history Lol. People pretend SC2 is a professional sport. In a real sport you'd have suspensions if not bans for that behaviour. In SC2 its ok because its 'just' a qualifier, and also because its better for one of the most popular community players. No need to get into the tournament based on skill, right? Seen team drivers in F1 let their teammates pass etc multiple times with no repercussions. Same in a lot of sports with a notion of teams but only one winner per event. I don't know, it's controversial, but it needs to be clearly stated in a tournament's rules that you can be disqualified for throwing games. Which is pretty tough to enforce.
As long as you don't bet on it or disadvantage others with it. I dont really see the problem in fixing games. For the guy in the final/their lowerbracket opponent, it shouldnt matter which of the 2 they play. It would be ratter different if this was poule games and IdrA needed a win to advance over someone else. And this way only IdrA & DeMusliM advanced and a 3rd got screwed over. But this way nobody gets hurts... except perhaps the spectators. But on the other hand...spectators got screwed over aswel when IdrA shouldn't attend ESWC.

The things people are saying in this thread right now are absolutely unbelievable.
A tournament admin comes out and explains the situation very clearly, and yet people are still carrying on and throwing around conspiracy theories?
If ESWC/ESL is satisfied with the situation, then you all should be as well.

Demuslim was up 2:1, he had actually thought he won, because he didn't realize it was a best of 5. I will upload screenshot. wtf you just changed your story you went from "he left because of conflicting dates" to "he thought it was a best of 3"
Thats not what he meant. He means that demuslim had no reason to throw it because he thought he actually won the series. It was probably during that break that you mentioned when he realized that not only was it a Bo5 but he also had conflicting dates.

screen shot is posted guys, so give the conspiracies a rest lol

Guess what? people throw games to get a better advantage all the time, it is up to the TOURNAMENT to structure it so that it doesn't end up in the players hands knowing if they want to win or lose for better seeding.
I think it's acceptable to lose on purpose if it benefits you. For example, in a group stage where top 2 go through, if you know that you'd play a weaker opponent by coming in second place, you could throw a game. (Of course, for this reason any real tournament will make sure deciding games are played simultaneously.) But it's very different to lose on purpose to benefit a friend (or hurt an enemy). That's really bad form and will lose you the respect of fans.
But let's be clear--as others have--that our respect is all that is at stake here. These guys didn't fix any matches to make money or do anything terrible like that.

players really should check the dates of the main events which they try to qualify for, instead of playing and shitting on the viewers half way in

But....Why would IdrA be able then? they both go Korea or am I mistaken?
Whoops wrong quote :S

Why can Idra attend then apparently?

Knocking people out to then forfeit is skewing results.

No you are correct, hence why I edited my post. Only speculation but maybe they dont want to pay to fly demuslim from kr to eswc, but they would with idra since he does give more exposure even if hes worse atm

wow.. okay.. bizarre..
I guess demuslim plays in a qualifier without checking the dates of the tourney... pretty weird. Glad it wasn't premediated, then.

I am an aspiring DeMusliM fan, so my disappointment comes from hoping for his best. His stream is very enjoyable due to his constant commentary. I also enjoy watching Minigun. Thank you ItsGosu for the incredibly entertaining casting.
P.S.: The balance between business and humor is being executed beautifully. Wonderful personalities are casting. Keep up the good work.

That doesnt make sense either, cause Axslav still qualifies, and Demuslim would easily trump ax in terms of exposure and popularity.

It would be a good idea for EG to post an official statement on this, signed by all the parties involved. Just to make sure it was in fact just amazing incompetence and not some plan to skew the results. Of course, if it was a plan they should explain the plan and justify it ethically.
Just my two cents. That's needed to keep this EG fan, anyway. Off to bed gl EG in the rest of the tourney.

If you can't attend the finals, then why play in the qualifiers? Who is managing EG's players because this is not professional at all. Is it because ESWC is a joke and EG was originally planning on boycotting the event?
|
Good thing the only notable person he knocked down to the loser's bracket was egincontrol, imagine the outcry if it was Destiny or minigun..

Ya I am wondering why go to the qualifier if you know you can't go to the event.... so confused.
