The time has come for our seventh IGN Pro League Team Arena! This is a (follow closely) weekly winner's format team king of the hill showmatch series. For better clarification, check out our
IPL Team Arena General Discussion thread!

Stream Link: http://www.ign.com/ipl

When: Tuesday, Sep 13 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also have a European re-broadcast as usual at Tuesday, Sep 13 4:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00))

Prizes

The first team to defeat everyone on the opposing team's roster (5 wins, or a best of 9) will earn $500 for their team to split however they want. To make things even more interesting, we are including a $100 bounty for each victory that a team earns, for new challengers to try and claim. For example, if a team wins 3 weeks in a row, they will have earned themselves $1,500 total, and have $300 worth of bounty on them. If a new team defeats them, they will earn the $500 for winning the week, as well as claim the $300 bounty.

Fnatic is the second team to win the IPL Team Arena, and they have earned themselves $1000 and a $200 bounty on their heads. Dignitas has always been a formidable clan war team and they are anxious for their chance to prove themselves this week. Here are their full rosters:

Is ToD allowed to play?

This is a pretty big match between two foreign titans, but the lack of Zergs in the Fnatic roster always jumps out at me.

Sure he is! The news was just announced, though, so it's unlikely he'll make an appearance.

Sjow Select Naniwa and TDH all have the ability to kill Rain. Given this seems to be the element that Reign and It's Gosu were missing, I think we'll have a new king on top of the hill tonight

Rain still has the ability to take out everyone on dignitas as well so dont count it against them. you also cant totally disregard fnatic's other players. theyre all quite able to take matches from any of dignitas' players..

True, but Rain is 6-0 in the IPL Arena, and the collected rest of the team is 4-8. The only other player even breaking even is Nightend (and Tod, but he hasn't played yet). So it seems like an outside chance at best that the other fnatic members will be a major force, although I'll concede that Tod and Nightend could bring some fire as well. But I still favour Sjow/Select/TDH/Naniwa over Tod/Nightend/Rain

Should be a good one, but didn't y'all say, or at least hint that Team Liquid was going to be next and then some Korean teams? Or am I totally off and just making stuff up? :o

Dignitas has much more flexibility in terms of who they can send out, and don't have to prepare XvZ at all. I'll have to cast my vote for Dignitas.

It would be nice if IGN would post the players that are sent out first for both teams. GSTL does that and it really helps build hype if we see who's sent put first.

Because of Sjow, Nani and Select. But are they even playing, seeing as they're in Korea?

Weak from Sjow there, smart play by Nightend flanking inn behind.

im sorta new to this format, but are the games played on the NA server?
is that why having people from dignitias in korea matters, or is it the time zone difference.

Interesting build by TT1 that had potentially to steamroll in another couple of minutes, excellently timed attack by Killer though.

Kind of surprised TT1 didn't go for templar tech (any combination of ht/dt/archon as his gateway count was swelling would have been an interesting choice)

cool strat from TT1 on the fast 3rd but horrible map/positions to do it..

close positions going 3rd nexus and 85 probe is just asking to be overrun by roaches.

Ouch, Cats just spoiling the final game even before it starts by stating it's the final game. Means that Rain will indeed win over Bling even though that is not really a surprise considering the two players.

Honestly I am not that surprised. There are a lot of streams active at any time and a lot of tournaments also offers vods. Therefore people shop around and watch only what they enjoy the most as there just is more content available then that there is time in the day.

I personally won't be tuning in anymore to this series (tonight was my first) due to the following reasons.
* I personally don't like the casting combo of HD/Cats. Not to say that they are bad, I just don't like them.
* [Note: This one is more accurate for IPL2, I have no idea if this was valid for the IPL Team Arena.] Looking at the strategies employed it looks like there is quite a big delay between the day the games were played and the day they were broadcasted.
* Biggest problem: You don't spoil a game before it airs. That also means that you don't say about the 8th game in a BO9 that it is the last game.

-----

Edit:

Looking at the view count for the EG Master Cup (a comparable event although without the All-Kill format) I think the low view count for the IPL-TA is because of the casters used.

* IPL-TA - 2.5k viewers (IIRC) - Cats/HD
* EG-MC - 3k viewers - DJwheat/IdrA

Now before people say the 500 people is not a big difference: I fully agree. However the Day9 daily runs at the same time as the EG-MC does and it has 13k viewers. I think it is fair to say that without the Daily the difference would be bigger though.

I saw up to 5k during the IPL Team Arena stream so I don't know what you were talking about.

Also EGMCS Started right as IPL Team arena ended.

I really can't stand watching HD anymore. Yeah, CatsPajamas screwed up but I think he's still a decent caster. HD on the other hand just tries way too hard to be funny and ends up wasting everyone's time. It's gotten to the point where IPL is unbearable to listen to whenever he's on.

I was kinda late at tuning in because I was busy, highest I saw was 2.5k hence that number.

Assuming it indeed scored that number the reasoning is invalid even though the viewing count is still quite low.

Pretty solid play from NightEnD so far, but really confusing play from his opponents. Bischu's chargelot attack up a ramp was pretty strange, but why SjoW opted for a medivac over banshee-raven, and opted for siege over cloak, I really don't understand. He could've waited longer to attack and he would've been fine.

And then, why send SjoW against NEnD? You've gotta save SjoW for Rain.

i personally think cats needs more work as a caster than HD. i dont really have a problem with HD's casting but i always feel like cats is performing an elaborate monologue for a mundane acting scene. regardless though its all very bearable and i really enjoy the high level matchups. if i ever get too bothered i can always just mute it.

HD don't need what he talks about regarding the 1/1/1, sorry but the proper response is 1 gate FE or so because you need it then go into 2 gate and cut probes around 30-38 with robotics chronoing out immortals and zealots/sentries and a few stalkers. HD suggests 1 base against 1/1/1 is suicide, if they get contain your screwed.
