Thank goodness we've got a proper LR/dicussion thread for the IPL qualifiers. Last week when that sick sick QXC vs Sleep game was going on, the discussion was spread out through multiple threads.
Why IPL, is this you learning how to actually communicate what you are doing to fans?
Very nice write up. And it is entirely needed, you have so many awesome games, so much content, but it is really hard for people to actually find your stuff. Personally I have spent more time than I am entirely comfortable with going through your raw twitch.tv vods to find specific games. You had qxc v Sleep and HerO v Poltimus from the last qualifier, games that deserved so much exposure and that people would have hailed as utterly amazing if they only were told about and that one could find in one click.
I really appreciate all you are doing. The amount of content you are providing is fantastic and I take this as a nice step in the direction of sorting out your framework, which to be fair has been incredibly bad/confusing/under-developed.
IPL3 will surely be amazing. The games you are casting are amazing. Please let people know how to watch your stuff. <3
However, in the other IPL3 thread, under 'Qualified Players' the results of this qualifier are also spoiled but there is no spoiler tag. Perhaps it's nice to put that entire section in a spoiler in that thread.
The orbital snipe was very good he just totally suicided the rest of his army in little parts into Polts push. He had a bunch of pure banelings roll from the side in range of tanks, lost a third of his lings because he didnt have them on hold and used his mutas to fight the marines after he had no meatshield left. Everything in that engagement was the worst possible way he could do it.
someone at IPL really needs to put their $hit together.. they have so many good players/games but there rarely threads or when there is a thread it doesn't get updated..
IGN, i would drop the Cast Schedule from the title...and make it just [IPL 3] Qualifier #2 Day Whatever. Cast Schedule and Discussion makes it a non live thread.
Your main website is VERY hard to find stuff. All I want is to find the brackets for Qualifier #1 and Qualifier #2. It took me 15 mins to find a little link in the description. Why not put a big button like the rest of the links? Brackets is probably one of the most important thing to show people. Why hide it?? Also, the links on the right side are not obvious links. There are no rollovers on them. As a web designer / software developer, you need to make those behave more like links with rollovers. I am referring to Event Schedule, Pack List, Event Rules, and Open Tournament. It's hard to even see the white text on them. And since they are placed below an Ad, they look like Ads. Please position them with the rest of the main content and not off to the "Ad" side.

That game is the reason why people don't care that Koreans are dominating the tournament scene. All that matters is skill when it comes to entertainment value.
DRG vs. MMA was absolutely insane. MMA really made a game of it, but fungal is so strong vs. bio heavy armies, especially at a choke, which is where MMA got caught, which lost him the game right there. Amazing play by both though.
Don't want to bitch but can anyone else believe how one sided that last game was? And Rainbow didn't even need to pull SCVS and it was still really wasn't even close. I just don't understand how you can lose after being on two base for so much longer. I do think I like the banshee version over the raven/pdd version.

Ghosts are the hard-counter to zerg, MMA didn't make any. Hopefully he picked a few tips up from MVP the other night.
Its funny because one gate expand is probably the best way to deal with the all in. Ace didnt defend the banshees particularly well and he lost a bunch of stalkers at the watch-tower.

He didn't lose too many probes and he had adequate production facilities. Losing the handful of stalkers was unfortunate considering he went banshee instead of Raven. The banshees force lots of stalkers which are fairly bad against tank/rine. And a single PDD negates them all together. Still even without an SCV pull it was very one sided. I don't see how immortal range buff will change that either.
On September 07 2011 10:53 gradotude wrote: That was an interesting composition from Genius (zealot immortal archon voidray stalker). Why does this LR thread appear so abandoned?
It's not a LR thread. These are replays. But, it is also important to note they have a live chat feature on their website where a lot of discussion might be going also.

The brackets from playhem (that means Liquipedia too) don't have accurate scores. Some results are posted as 2-0 when it actually was 2-1 or a walkover. For example qxc lost 1-2 to Killer, not 0-2 as the playhem bracket shows. If they don't know a result, it should be posted as 1-0, but IPL doesn't really care.

Nitpicking.
It's very unprofessional by IPL to post fake scores. Here are some more examples: Zenio - Ryung or Check - Ryung didn't finished 0-2 but 1-2.
In what other sport do organizers fail at such a simple thing like posting the correct scores? Imagine going to http://livescore.com/ and see some scores that are actually not correct. It will be ridiculous right?
How can eSports be taken serious when a "big" organization like IPL posts scores that are not accurate?

I've seen non-televised events have wrong scores a bunch of times.
Heck, I've seen wrong scores on televised games too that were later corrected.
Not sure what your point is. I'm sure they will fix it when they get a chance.

That's totally different. What u saw on TV were mistakes, what IPL did is intentional (because of laziness?) and scores won't be corrected since it's probably not a big deal to them. The same happened in the NASL qualifiers when some walkovers and 2-1 scores were posted as 2-0.
My point is: Don't post the score as 2-0 if you aren't sure it was 2-0!
On September 08 2011 02:08 lizzard_warish wrote: How do you know it was intentional?
Both IPL1 and IPL2 qualifers had matches with 2-0 as result instead of the real scores (2-1). It's impossible to do make so many mistakes. I guess the person who added the results only knew who advanced and didn't bothered to check if it was 2-0, 2-1 or walkover. He simply added 2-0 for the winner.
If it's so hard to find the results of your own tournament, at least post them as 1-0/0-1 but don't post wrong scores ...
I like how some of you argue with me just to defend IPL ... they have no excuse for this and it's something very easy to fix.
Are you talking about MMA vs DRG? If so for sure best TvZ game i have seen in months. Level of play on both sides was off the charts. I think this game was so amazing due to DRG playing some different style than he used to vs terran and it really worked.
Getting ready to go live in just 25 more minutes with MORE IPL 3 Qualifier #2 action! Puma, Puzzle, KiWiKaKi, and more! http://www.ign.com/ipl at 5 p.m. PDT / 8 p.m. EDT!
Thanks for making this thread. It was pretty hard to follow the broadcast schedule of the first qualifier. This makes it so much easier...and some pretty insane matchups for the R64!
Whew, that was a lot of fun casting with PainUser, but it is certainly tiring! Hope you all enjoyed the cameo as much as I did. =P
Also PLEASE don't waste time in taking advantage of our 40% off promotional code BLACKJACK for all spectator packages lasting for 24 hours only: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/2036777055

Painuser is so ridiculously biased like that. I find I have to mute the stream whenever he's casting.
Some constructive criticism that should be taken to heart. I really do despise painusers casting, he is annoying and biased as others have mentioned. Its better to just have the stream muted.
Is perhaps the SlayerS prefix on the TL calendar the reason why Alicia is shown as Terran? lol. Normally I'd love to root for the guy, but gogo Dimaga~ :D

Worse: You get to make scarabs (unlimited) and deliver without the reavers.
DRG's huge min/gas bank and econ just took it away. I mean, Minigun had some very cost-efficient battles, but constant streams of 200/200 armies just can't be stopped
What is up with Alicia's macro? He has been floating over 1k minerals for ages, completely stopped probe production, never bothered to take a third when he had the money and was absolutely safe to do so?
Casters never mentioned any of this either.
And Painuser, obviously Alicia didn't want to waste all of his Phoenix energy to pick off a few Drones.
On September 09 2011 11:34 Yamulo wrote: I feel like I could really enjoy this more if they didn't call protoss ridiculous every 5 minutes...... Still really nice games + casts.
Yes, it's pretty annoying. Painuser is so biased against Protoss t.t Alicia was way a ahead and in bank and expos and denied so many of Dimagas bases, but that broodlord/infestor army put up a sick fight despite that.
Please keep in mind that the 40% discount offer is now over. There won't be another massive discount like that, but you can still get a 5% discount by entering IPL3JOSHY as your promo code. =)
Socke held that 111 like a boss. What the casters missed, actually, was that siege mode wasnt even ready at the point when Socke crushed the push with his collosus.
not to be mean, but can you guys please learn a little bit more on pvp? All your other casts are good, but your pvp seems to be rather primitive. Either way good casts though ^_^
On September 10 2011 10:20 poorcloud wrote: Don't understand the brackets, so what happened to DRG and MMA?
They're only casting certain games. And the results have more or less been spoiled. MMA got knocked out by DRG in the ro64 (not a spoiler, you can deduce that from the OP)
The match list on the TL events has spoilers in it... I always check it out to see who's playing, but this time is says + Show Spoiler +
Quarter-Finals - oGsZenio vs SlayerSRyung Semi-Finals - PoltPrime vs TSL_aLive Semi-Finals - CheckPrime vs SlayersRyung Finals - TSL_aLive vs SlayerSRyung
Might as well not watch. Could this be double checked for spoilers first?
Damn, Ryung just tore apart Zenio. I know he lost against July in the GSL but his TvZ is so solid. And his TvT is awesome and he's super-abusive TvP. I think it's only a matter of time before he wins a big tournament.
If I set my volume to where painuser is at a comfortable level I can't hear cats at all. They need to balance the audio, or get two mics (seriously how hard is it to have a mic for each caster).
Sorry to bother the thread, but I don't know where to post b/c stream chat isnt gonna be effective, lol.
Not strictly related, but... Am I the only one having really poor sound levels? Was gonna put this on and fall asleep to it, but I have to tune up the volume to hear anything, and when the commercials kick in they're too loud in comparsion.

My volume level is really low too for some reason. The cast seems to be set unusually soft.

I never understood why it wasn't just completely standard to have someone listening to your cast and making sure it is working alright for pro organizations like IGN
