Rather play safe than feel bad afterwards. 8)

Obligatory public note for all large tournament threads: The following is a list of behaviors that will get immediate bans: 1. Whining about stream 2. Bashing other games 3. Flaming other users 4. Bashing players 5. Complaining about imbalance. It is in no way complete. Keep in mind that there's a difference between pointing out that the SC2 and CoD streams were switched and whining about it (same thing on pointing out/asking about stream lag and whining about it, etc.). Also, just because you post something and aren't immediately banned for it doesn't mean you won't get caught. We'll be going through this thread very carefully. That being said, enjoy today's games! Time stamp: page 38, 6:23.

Isn't it equivalent to cheering on the soccer team from your city (like Leeds people cheering for the Leeds soccer team) or people from Green Bay cheering on the Green Bay Packers in the NFL? The Detroit Lions lost 0-13 this last season in the NFL, and no one looked at the stadium full of fans from Detroit and said "Hey you xenophobic jackasses, cheer for the New England Patriots! They're the better team, they deserve your cheers!" I would say that yeah ;o. I am against cheering for your local team just because it is a local team. It is illogical. Two team players could trade spots and suddenly the same players would be cheered against? Thats stupid. The only reasonable method of deciding who to cheer for is on an individual level. With the koreans, they have the better games because they are harder workers, and have the better skills. I am fine with cheering for Huk for example because he is a foreigner AND a code S level player when playing his best. Cheering for haypro over someone like bomber just makes my brain explode however. so says your mum were up against chuck norris in a hand-to-hand combat and you would be standing there cheering for chuck as he beat the crap out of your mum, no?

The BW scene was so Korean-centric that the entire rest of the world is referred to as foreign. It's not fucking hard to see why it is perceived as Korea vs The World. Even if SC2 is international, Koreans are still so different, so separate in skill and set up, that it is still Koreans vs Foreigners. I'm sorry but it just fucking is. If you support players based purely on skill/race/style fine, good for you, but don't assume that's the only reason to support someone and don't fucking call people who disagree with you racists. You can't delete the entire history of SC culture. Completely agreed. I think this sums up the entire "argument" going on. Honestly, it's a non-issue when it comes down to it. Players are players, where they're from and how they practice is separate information from their competitive play.

You can't delete the entire history of SC culture. This is a completely different game from Brood War and I doubt 99% of the people lamenting about Koreans don't even care about Brood War. They're not that separate in skill, Huk does okay in GSL and loses hard in other LANs pretty often, Sjow always takes a game off Koreans, MC has lost to Huk and Naniwa in Homestory Cup, Nada has lost to Mana/Elfi/Kiwikaki 2-0, etc. WhiteRa went 3-2 with MC in the Dreamhack Invitational around the time MC was considered to be at his peak. Even in a lot of MLG games there are obvious points where a foreigner could have won the game but he threw it away. This isn't a game where almost nobody would ever take a game off a Korean b-teamer.
