Terran dropping is instant damage, what I mean is that once units are dropped, the damage is done, and it doesn't really matter too much if the medivac is lost. In comparison, when using WP as protoss, you NEED the WP to survive, either to warp in more units, or to give mobility and enough survivability to HTs (or any other unit) to actually cause damage. This is essential, because in order to shut down medivacs, you need a viking squad, or a stalker ball, or a muta flock, so you can kill it BEFORE it drops. Against WP, you need only one or 2 units, because if you can threaten the WP to die, the strat is mostly shut down. The one exception is the type of battle which happened in this SeleCT vs MC game, since once the HTs are dropped and the templars are spent, the WP might as well die, it doesn't matter that much. The damage done by wp and drops are the same Absolutely not, the quick damage by terran drops in not comparable to WP drops, have you seen how long it takes 8 marines to destroy a zerg base? How about 8 marauders taking down a nexus. If 2 medivacs manage to drop a base, the damage is done, it's hard and it's almost instantaneous. A 4 zealot drop in comparison, takes long even to kill some SCVs, they're completely different. BUT that has nothing to do with the Medivac/WP but the Units that are dropped. Drop 4 DT and they'll do insane damage as well . Protoss doesn't have the greatest units to harass besides DT's yes but this has nothing to do with WP/Medivac themselves. vs planetary 8 marines + stim => 35 sec 4 zealots => 45 sec so in a way you are right about the initial damage, but yeah, if you can warp in, zealots => 22 sec, so more risqy but more effective if you manage to do it Why would you do a comparison of marines and zealots with a planetary fortress, a building with a large amount of armour, and one which a drop will never destroy. Choose something more practical and less biased towards the Protoss. How about the amount of kills against retreating workers? Or how long it takes to destory a spawning pool. for the simple reason that hatcheries and spawning pools are not in the hit calculator that i have ![]() | ||
