I really hope that Thorzain or another foreigner stays for longer than a month. Especially after watching this, I just don't know if a month long crash course in the Korean scene is going to be enough.

For me atleast, it was a matter of knowledge and time, for their opponents the foreigners have had their replays out in the market for some time, and naniwa + thorzain just competed in the blizz EU tournament, which those replays were released, so.... even before that tournament, you got MLG replays and other tournament replays, being released.... Yugioh and Check had all this information to study off of....and naniwa and thorzain have what? Vods....and even then would have to pay money for it, not to mention yugioh and check had i believe a week to practice for their opponent, while naniwa and thorzain had just three days...

i think mvp won anaheim not by studying opponents but by being amazing.

It was the same for everyone at Anaheim though, not MVP being unprepared and the others having had time to prepare only for MVP, so not the same thing at all. That being said, MVP is amazing and noone is saying with preparation Nani or Thorzain should win against MVP. Everyone knows the koreans are better, some were just hoping the best foreigners would do decently against the lower tier koreans. I think what a lot of people are saying is that with the same last week or so preparation for both sides this day would have looked different.

Now I don't know if the foreigners could have done any better had they had time to prepare, had they not been jetlagged, had they all not faced Zerg which is by far the worst matchup for all of them, but in the end it doesn't really matter. They lost and it sucks, I just hope they all learn from it, STAY in Korea for more than one month and work their asses off just like the koreans do because like so many here have already mentioned, the koreans are not better because they are Koreans, they are better because of how and how much they practice.

These foreigners all have great potential and if they want to reach their peak, the korean way is the only way imo.

As a side note, whether it is a balance thing or not protoss, foreigner and korean alike are looking pretty pitiful atm imo, I really hope they can find a way to get back into the game soon.

Agree with this so much.

You cannot reap the full benefits of the Korean scene by staying there only for a month. You have to be there for at least 2 weeks of getting your ass kicked before you can even start to improve.

this proves the gap between the best foreigners and just average koreans is huge.

just goes to show how good mvp mma nestea are when it comes to being pretty damn sick

btw the game is balanced.

Have you looked at GSL results lately? It is far from balanced.

yeah i've seen the gsl results and since every race has had a champion at least two times, the game is pretty close to be balanced. there will always be a ton of terran players because the campaign was wings of liberty and a lot of players stuck with terran after campaign. of course you need to have a good zvt pvt or tvt to succeed in gsl but that's life.

if you zvt pvt or tvt sucks you aren't going far in gsl.

I really hope you're not serious. Progamers do not play the campaign and base their race off of that. That is the most retarded accusation I have ever heard for the reason for terran dominance.

And don't base balance on the actual winners of GSL's. It should be based on overall performance of the races.

i didn't say all progamers do that but some progamers don't have BW experience but they just played sc2 and loved it and picked terran due to campaign or other reasons.

also i can sense protoss bias here. huk won homestory cup and dreamhack and there were quite a few protoss finals out there. usually most tournaments are dominated by terrans because of the sheer number and skill of them. i play zerg and i don't complain when there were 5 terrans in the top 5 at mlg anaheim because they all played pretty sick. how about you start watching the games and see the skill level of mma and mvp and nestea then you can see how far those guys are above the rest.

also ogsmc would prolly have qualified for r16 if he didn't have a deathwish and wanna play mvp in the group stages. making a dumb move like that playing mvp who everybody wants to avoid is just asking to get knocked out. also it's a shame that mvp picked polt then noblessed got picked.

in any tournament you don't wanna be facing best players in the first round because although nestea is at the top imo, the skill level between nestea mvp mma and mc is very slight that in a bo3/5/7 anybody out of those 4 can win if matched up against each other. picking mvp in a bo1 group stage match was a deathwish for mc.

so stop crying about lack of protosses cause game is balanced...mc just wanted to die

I see most of the recommended games polls say no, is this foreigner bias or were the games just bad?

They were all pretty bad. If you want to watch some games, Jinro's second game was very tense, and Thorzain game 1 was nice + Show Spoiler +
(except for the extremely long stay by Yugioh at the end)
, game 2 wasn't bad either.

To be honest, I was most of all dissapointed in Naniwa's play, which was soo sloppy. Misrallying phoenix's to their doom, I think I saw even at more then one point an idle probe. It's so frustrating because I know he can do so much better. Oh well, at least I know he's going to do well if he's as dedicated as he says he is

GSL needs to stop giving codeA spots to foreigners. They simply do not deserve any of those spots. I feel really really bad for all the better korean players they didnt get a spot because of them.
Foreigners just have a chance if they stay months (no not just 1^^) in korea and train in a progaming house. Otherwise they are going to keep getting rolled.
And gstl is no real competition compared to the gsl. If you win there it means soo much less.
I really hope GSL stops giving those spots because its just a little freakshow.

FUCK. YOU

just get the fuck out of here. if you can't support these amazing guys who traveled half way around the world to try and fulfill their dreams, then get the fuck out of here and don't post in LR threads.

Seriously, what is wrong with people!? It seems we're all quick to forget how HuK used to be defeated by his own nerve issues? and now he's one of the top 5 protosses in the world.

seems we're quick to forget that SaSe, nAni, and Thorzain are all completely new to the Korean scene, that they literally JUST hopped off a plane from Sweden after going to Warsaw and were thrust into a GOMtv booth with hardly any time to prepare.

All you idiots who shout shit like ESPORTS ESPORTS like retarded monkeys and then when the people that represent US, the non-koreans, lose, you start bashing them and calling them 'freakshow'?

NO! what have YOU accomplished? GTFO

Jinro, I hate your slump because I love you, please get yourself out of your own head and get back on from

nAni, I love your super solid style, I know you'll do better with more booth experience and korean training experience

Thorzain, once you start training with koreans you'll be a powerhouse Terran, I'm sure of it.

SaSe, I'm sorry i'm not a big follower of yours, but i promise i'll pay more attention now that you're in korea!

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

You need to realize that supporting these guys means supporting esports and the sustainability of SC2 worldwide! The mentaility you are coming at it with is frankly disgusting.

Or they will all just rot in Code B until they give up and go back to Europe.

Actually Naniwa will get a free Code A spot from MLG again.

Foreign or not, I just want good games. I don't particularly care who gives them to me. Romanticizing the foreign scene is only going to continue to serve to hold it back from competing with the Koreans.

They weren't ready, I'm sure there are players in code B who'd do better. But they weren't ready you can't blame them, nani and thorzain just came from warsaw. Even nani said he wouldn't do well, i support them but when they aren't ready or in the right conditions i think even them players themselves don't want to play. Like whitera at the blizzard bnet inv

it took huk a bit to get into code S, but now he's doing fine
lets not forget QXC's all kill, it took him a while to get adjusted, but man he stomped that day

it takes a bit of time to adjust for korean playstyle, but theyll get better
