Yeah it's not really made for an audience it seems, very small space.

Small? Hartwall arena: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hartwall_Areena

That's not what I meant, most of the space is desks and computers.

SC2 scene is very NA-based despite them having the weakest pro scene. MLG is seen as the only LAN event that matters, when in reality its just one of many.

EU lans (Dreamhack is the exception) tend to get much less attention. There have been some big LAN events with literally 0 coverage on TL.

This weakest pro scene stuff is seriously blown out of proportion and not cool. Idra and Huk are representing USA in WCG qualifiers. I'd say that's as good as any other single country in the world.

And the U.S. is the #1 watcher of GSL so it's not true that MLG is "only LAN event that matters." Come on. Your post is full of falsehoods.

Two great players don't exactly make my statement any less true. NA is weaker than EU and KR overall, I think everyone has come to accept that by now.

With LAN event I meant these weekend-long tournaments, not longer leagues like GSL or NASL. I dunno how else to put it, so I just call them LAN events.

Obviously the EU runs deeper. For cultural reasons and practical reasons (more countries to draw players from).

But the top pros of EU and NA are no better than each other. It's silly the way people try to draw a correlation between place of birth and skill level. EU and NA top pros are both in the same boat being inferior to Koreans.

small in the sense that most of it is covered by byoc stuff, no real spectating for esports by the looks of it.

You actually have a point. In EU right now it is basically ESL (IEM events specifically) and DreamHack that get hype and are something that the world looks at. But... Assembly has been good and is getting better and better - A lot better than last time!

And regarding the pro scene USA is not as dominant as they could be. Sweden (a country with 9.3M people) probably have as many (maybe even more) successful pro gamers.

SC2 scene is very NA-based despite them having the weakest pro scene. This can be seen how overblown every MLG event is.

EU lans (Dreamhack is the exception) tend to get much less attention. There have been some big LAN events with literally 0 coverage on TL.

I dunno, I would rather say that MLGs are way overhyped. I really dont like their rank point system and after Columbus which was total and pure awesomeness I was a bit disappointed in MLG Anaheim. For sure I am not staying up until 5-6am in the future for MLG

I agree, I don't actively watch MLG events myself. I prefer GSL and EU-based events.

But the community seems to make a huge deal out of them every time.

If you don't actually watch them how can you say that you prefer GSL and EU-based events? From imagination?

I watched the important parts of Columbus, didn't watch a single game from Anaheim and won't watch in the future.

Happy?

I think the problem for this Assembly getting less attention is that it comes sandwiched right between MLG (last weekend ) and European B.Net invitational (this weekend) while assembly is during the week.

lol its just because its not weekend and not enough coverage with more coverage and on weekend this would be having more but rly the sc2 scene ISNT NA based xD

You can't measure attention by Teamliquid only. Teamliquid is english-speaking, therefore its of course mostly US-based (with a very big country as well).
There are other communities, especially in Germany. Just look how many viewers german streamers like Khaldor, Take and HomerJ get.
And there are german starcraft-sites like mystarcraft.de, and I bet they exist in other communities as well (esp. french, russian).
