BW lovers wont be impressed even IF Yellow practiced a month. The level of those games will not be close to high level BW. Boxer and Yellow are famous and old school, you need people like Puma/MC/Nestea for really high level games to impress BW fans.

The only reason this is boring is because we (as regular SC2 viewers) are used to very high level play and know the intricacies of SC2. The bad play from Yellow is from not knowing what the units do or what upgrades exist, etc. His actual mechanics are fine.
Honestly, that's still very strange, assuming he's played for the week that he has claimed to have played for.
During my first day playing, I just looked at the tech trees for each race and tried to memorize the upgrades and such for the race(Z) that I played, and after that learned the hotkeys for producing each unit(Like 5 hours in a single player game without playing vs anyone yet).
I'm not sure what Yellow did, and if it actually was a better use of time? I'm pretty sure he just doesn't care about the game.

Agreed. Nothing that happens right now is going to convince anyone who doesn't believe SC2 has potential. That will take time. Give it 2 years when the quality of matches has risen higher.
