Wow, Assembly Winter was awesome. It seems Assembly Summer will be three times better. btw, Assembly Winter was where Huk made the infamous statement of having "top 3 control in the world."
Holy mother of god! I might get to see players like HuK, Ret, Haypro, Grubby, Morrow, Mana and Naama live? And TB and Apollo? (And even more to come) I can get to the tournament location from my home in like 30 mins.. I am so hyped right now ^^
I don't want to call the assembly winter best eu event uptil then lol, casters were awful, low prize money, few americans and zero koreans. iem gamescom and dhw10 was imo better.
I'm looking forward to this though, and I'm glad you raised the prize pool
I will be happy when i get my T - Zain hehe awesome players; a lot of liquid power going into there! Can Ret reproduce the same result as Assembly Winter? I hope so Looking forward to the rest of the invites!

Solid list of players already too.
IEM cologne has 21.000 (even more for the Hannover) for SC2 and even 13-16th place getting money as well in total around 600.000 you cant compare these tournaments but anyways.great tournament with a huge prizepool.cant wait!

Noticed that it's just 2 days long, seems a bit short for a 32man groups+playoffs. Games in the group stage are Bo3 I presume?
The Summer Assembly Event is actually August 4-7, however the Blizzard EU invitational is 6th-7th in Poland. That only leaves the 4th and 5th to get top players.
There will also be the WCG Samsung Starcraft II Preliminaries being held. (Awesome "weekend" for SC2!)

I loved the fact that the English casters were awful, as it introduced me to Khaldor's casting for the first time, and I had a great time watching him cast even though i don't understand German. In between games he'd break into fluent english and joke around with fans and stuff, was a good time.
Yes, I personally am a huge fan of Assembly and Dreamhack. I know they are not run by the same organization but they really feel similar. So i can't wait

Are you trolling? There are a ton of Good macro terrans, you even listed Thorzain . If by macro you mean only macro i could see where you are coming from, but I personally hope goody gets invited because I feel he adds a new aspect to a tournament. Even though his games take an hour it is actually very interesting to watch, especially his tvts. edit: it seems he edited it out, I don't want to look silly
He means that some of these players didn't have "awesome" achievements
- Haypro : Nothing in Korea, nothing since he is back in Europe - Naama "only" dreamhack winter, nothing else - Elfi, some nice online cups - Welmu, like Elfi - Grubby nothing important in SC2 for the moment - Mana, we dont see him anymore
Do not misunderstand me, i'm not a troll, these players are soooooooo good. But they are not the best possible players.
And it was the same in Dreamhack summer, Haypro, MoMaN, SarenS, they shouldn't get invitation.

I hope you're serious joking, I agree that it isn't the strongest lineup ever seen. But that's probably 'cause there are many tournaments during that time. Still it's a strong lineup and there are probably more big names coming.

Haypro finished 10th at MLG Columbus, Mana finished top 16 at Dreamhack and also made a big contribution towards Mouz's EG Masters victory. The rest it's pretty obvious why they were invited.
Please remember, players must APPLY to be INVITED. As the community, we should hop on our favorite player's (or team's) website and let them know about the tournament and that they need to apply by the 13th!

Well maybe you should take a look at the prize money rewarded at the mlg final? You need to understand that it's a circuit, not a one of event like most of the European events.

Your post make no sense.. you wanna to see every player invited to Turnament have some big wins ? Yes there are many more good players .. But dont say you wanna se in turnaments ONLY WINNERS , Its good things that other players are invited to turnaments. We see all the time , the same names.... and like 80% top 8 in turnaments are protoss players... im sick of watching PvP.
I dont wanna see in every Turnemant MC , HUK , NANIWA , HASUOBS and other protoss players.. i really like to see them play , but for some time , you see only them get invited , and them someone like you write post others players dont win anything.. ask yourself why...
To all "specialists" who discussing the invited players.
The one who provides the money, picks the players. The organizers can pick only bronze league players if they want, its their right.
Stop whining and just encourage tournaments like this one kids! Because they are for you, the viewers ... one of the main problems in e-Sports is that its fans are not so mature as should be and that means the commercials won't be so effective.
Thumbs up for ASUS and the people who will organize the event.

see the problem with that attitude, is how the hell could all these "not proven caus of no 1 places" decide if they should be invited or not, first of it's the organizers that decides in the end, and second: It shouldn't only be the best of the best, caus no "good but still not big win" could never have major succes in these tournaments + honestly it would be INSANELY boring if let's say the top 16 best always were the same who got into tournaments
don't get me wrong, i know what you mean but just my 2 cents <3

Uh don't you think it's a little premature to complain about invites when less than half of the players are announced? I really hate it when people default into the negative without thinking of what the reasoning for some of the decisions might have been, especially before the event is even fully formed...
It's the players'/teams' job to apply for the tournament, and they've obviously been informed by the organisers way before this announcement, I don't think it makes that much sense faulting the tournament over who they decide to invite if there is no clear indication of one player being chosen over another.
Criticizing the invitation of the top Finnish players... did you put any thought into this at all? Isn't it fucking obvious an event like this will try to promote local stars? Did you also complain about NASL and IPL inviting hordes of straight-up bad American players, they even clearly could have gotten superior players from Europe and Korea, being an online event.
Events like this ALWAYS release player lists in increments like this. Why? Because they get multiple appearances in media that way and more people will see at least one of them. It's not in their best interest to put all the best players into a single announcement as that would lessen the buzz created by all the other one's. Patience, lads.
Wow great prize pool, but you could of revealed this information earlier. Now some players might miss the deadline of the application, unless the organizers have informed players about it earlier. However, im sure this will be quickly filled with the top players.

A) it's not 100% invite. They ask players to apply / sign up, then the invite (select) the top/best/favorite/whatever 32 players (and maybe a few alternates). Unless that's what you mean by "invite".
B) how should it be done? They've got 32 spots and limited time. How can they do it better for winter '12 or next summer?

I'm thinking of going to spectate the tournament but I wonder how good the setting will be for spectators. Like will Totalbiscuit and Apollo have some kind of stage similar to the one TB had at Dreamhack? I felt like the setting they had for casting at Assembly Winter wasn't the best possible and was very crowded, which wouldn't be very enjoyable.

This is what day9 was talking about, people banning Koreans so that NA/EU players can hog the money... I see no future in e-sports if this is so and continues on...

Koreans have THE best players around the world, and yet I see NONE invited.
Edit: I see that you must request an invite... KOREANS GO REQUEST ONE NOW!

Lol, seriously get over it. Playing the race card, what a joke. Koreans have been at pretty much every single big foreign tournament in the last half year or so, and took all the money from basically all of them.

Nobody has "banned" koreans from participating in this tournament. You can apply for the tournament and there is no country restrictions. If a famous korean sc2 player was to make an application im sure that he would get invited....
And from the perspective of the tournament organiser there is no point in banning koreans from attending. Korean players always attract more offline and online spectators.

since when did you become a king; now that is what i really want to know!
Yeahhh, Sen and Dimaga!!!! I guess Sen graduated and has more time now to participate in more tournaments like MLG and this one? Lets hope that is indeed the case
The application period for ASUS ROG Starcraft II tournament is ending tomorrow. Before the final list of participants is released, the organanizers of Assembly announce five new invites for the tournament. The now invited players are White-RaFnatic.MSI NightEnDCyberNation.SarenSESC.GoOdyaTn.DarKFoRcE
One of the most anticipated and welcome players in European StarCraft 2 tournaments has to be the Ukrainian "Grandpa toss" White-Ra. His success in both Brood War and in StarCraft 2 has been steady, and the second place at the DreamHack Stockholm Invitational tournament in April can be considered as his latest great achievement. The invite to Assembly is indeed justified for this lively performer.
The Romanian NighEnD is a fairly new name for the StarCraft 2 crowd. He made himself known when he beat MorroW by 3-2 in the TeamSpeak TL Open 14 tournament last February. His accomplishments also include a third place in The Gathering LAN event. Assembly is still confident about this former Warcraft 3 player's skills, enough so that a place for the ASUS ROG Starcraft II tournament opened for him already.
Sarens, GoOdy and DarKFoRcE are all familiar names in the StarCraft 2 community. Sarens and DarKFoRcE participated also in the StarCraft 2 tournament at Assembly Winter where Sarens was able to reach round of 16 but DarKFoRcE was eliminated in the group stage. The now given invites for Assembly are still well earned because all three have proven their capabilities by performing well in the online tournaments and leagues.
A bit sad that no koreans seems to have applicated (or just not annouced). But would not be bad to see the top europeans (mostly) duke it out to see their strenght. GoOdy and DarKFoRcE are really strong at the moment I give both a shot for high places. Overall favourite is HuK at the moment of course.
Since this is on a Thur-Fri (same days as the ongoing GSLT season) it's quite unlikely that we'll see any korean team members. Still pretty stacked list of invites so far, can't wait to see that last 9. Also have the invited players confirmed?

No, you're clearly a racist. You said firstly you 'hate' Koreans. If I said, I hope they don't invite any black players I hate them, do you think that might be just a little racist? Why is it different because they're Korean, why is that acceptable?
Answer = It's not and you are a racist.
Why does nationality even matter? What kind of idiot doesn't want to see the best players in the world come to his country and play? Apparently the kind who would rather watch lower quality games because the players (while not from his own country, region, culture or even in some cases continent) have the same skin colour as he does. Nope, that's not racist one bit.

I don't see how you can go from talking about a nation and then compare it with blacks. That is not the same thing at all. If you would have compared it with 'I hate Frenchmen, don't invite them' then you would have a equal comparison. He doesn't say he hate Asians, right?
Well I'm not agreeing with his view but your logic seems flawed.
I don't know, these will be my 10th Assembly (Summer THE DEMO PARTY!) and 1st time ever I am actually hyped and going to watch a game tournament there. Holy mother*bleeping* *bleep**bleep*. That lineup is way too awesome so far, I just wish we would see some EG guys there as well ^^'
Only 1 Korean, that basically ruined the legitimacy of this tournament. Not enough Korean means lack of skill level in a supposedly professional tourney.
