Where the caster forced to talk at low sound levels ???
I just saw the finals vods and I couldn't hate more the fact of both casters talking like somebody was sleeping next to them, the first 3 games sounded boring.
It gave me the impression that if they talked too loud the players could listen.
I'm sure it wasn't day9 fault cz at game 3 they got a lot better and I think that apollo should learn to put more emotion to the match, but well...

Casting is entertainment, seems a lot of people forget that. Day[9] did a great job.

He starts every game with this super annoying "if u want your favourite protoss baller to do well and close this game and blalablalaala give a cheeeeeeer" all the while screaming at the top of his lungs. There are other ways to convey excitement than to yell in my ears.
Also i feel like his analysis was really lacking to the point where d.appollo said most of the interesting stuff while day9 sounded like a third class holiday rep. "And now throw your hands up in the air and say eeeeeeeeeeeeooooooooooo"
Dont get me wrong, i like day9 i just feel like his casting style has really degenerated. Hope he can get back to his former self. A good first step would be to stop screaming all the time. Honestly Day9 is the most annoying caster out there. But people are nuthugging him soooo much. He was good at one point before, and I respect his average knowledge of the game, but he is quite annoying now. Everything he does. Everyone should man up and admit it. Apollo did the better job that day, and I agree with the comments above. Its like listening to cheerleaders during sc2. Listen to the way he talks. I had to mute most of the casts that were on his stream. If you want excitement, go listen to TotalBiscuit. That dude, knows how to use language and his pitch/voice to cast.
It's nice when casters have a balance of excitement and knowledge (unless you're Idra, in which case your analysis 100% justifies anything). If you don't, you get people like Totalbiscuit and Huskystarcraft who try to hype a game up but their bad analysis of a game and ability to determine who's ahead alienates a significant portion of the viewers. Day9 always struck me as one of those "balanced" casters for his ability to cast to a higher level audience while still keeping things entertaining. I remember the solo cast he did in the final TSL game was incredible and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. This event he definitely overdid the "excitement" aspect of his casting, but it's not enough for me to call day9 anything but one of the best casters out there.

Everyone should man up and admit it. Don't make it sound like a lot of people agree with you. Because that is certainly not the case.

I actually would like to say Day9 as an analytical caster rather than as a playbyplay or colour commentator, although he prepares well for his dailies there is no doubt that his knowledge of the game is very high. I was incredibly annoyed by his casting bias to foreigners over koreans but thats oke I suppose, its to be expected. What I really want is his analytical skills which he uses in its dailies(again, he prepares for these, and live is much harder then when you time to prepare for it)to show, rather then him doing the playbyplay commentary and try and hype stuff.
Simply put, i'd want him as an analytical commentator rather then shoutcaster.

The issue with having day as the analytical commentator, is the need for a competent co-caster who is able to lead the discussion and create that analytical environment. djwheat does a great job of this, as does tasteless. dapollo is not too great at this imho. his bad use of english (maybe he's not a native english speaker) really makes me take what he says less serious, and he never seems to do much more than state the obvious.. maybe i'm wrong, but that's how i feel.

"insurd" "MC falled back" if you really listen to him speak, it's quite annoying. "Pred-EYE" sometimes i feel like he does it on purpose.

It all comes down to preference really.
Personally I prefer the calmer play by play of Tasteless and the analysis from Artosis over the hyper excited casting from Day9. Usually day9's casting is still something I enjoy, it's only this time I felt it was completely over the top to the point of being very annoying, largely because he would scream so loud I constantly had to change my volume to ensure I could hear Apollo but not have my ears start bleeding when day9 screamed.
One thing about Tastosis that I rarely see with day9 casting is that with Tastosis they get fairly equal amounts of time to talk, whereas with day9 casts are often almost exclusively him talking because he tends to talk over more quiet casters (of course tastosis has a ton of experience together). It very much stood out to me for Dreamhack. Day9 would ask Apollo something, and then sometimes not even give him a chance to reply before he yelled it himself. I would have found that infuriating if I was in Apollo's position. I know I'm nitpicking, but once I notice those things, they start to stand out to me and irritate me. ><

with this statement you have nullified everything you have stated. Apollo is ENGLISH. hes born and bread in England, currently lives in Shropshire (again this is in england)
Shropshire is classed as the midlands within the UK , so his accent is what you could describe as 'normal british'
fair enough if he was from the northern region as even us brits have trouble understanding that accent in the strongest form but he isnt...which may lead to the problem being just you and your attitude/lack of culture outside anything that isnt the US.

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt because he has very poor word choice. Thus lessening his sense of intelligence in my eyes. You can be the smartest person in the word, "but if yew tawlk lyke dis know1 wil b-leev ey wurd ewe sahy." Thus, my taking a lot of what he was saying with a grain of salt. He has his moments, but it was like eating bricks listening to him speak.

djwheat is better at leading the conversation to a point of analysis, i never said he's a great analysizer. i know that djwheat hails from fps and his knowledge of the game is rather poor compared to the likes of day9 or tastostis, but he's still a great commentator.

This is a huge part of why djwheat is so good (unless you don't like his voice, which is understandable...) He knows that he doesn't know, and how to involve himself and whoever he's casting with.

actually, he's never been a good caster. he USED to produce good dailies, however, but now they're just as his casting is: loud, annoying, and not at all insightful.

This kind of non sense trolling should have no place here in TL, not to mention this thread...
