This is how Polt's gotten the majority of his wins in the last Code S season and the super tournament. Obviously he's shown more than early heavy pressure (especially with his ability to micro against the hellions and banshees that guarantee the game doesn't reach the mid game), but anyone who tried any sort of tech or FE opening against him pretty much got over run. I'd have preferred to see some kind of silly TLO style mass rax opening against him than a tech one, sigh.

Polt played really well though, he tore MMA apart pretty hard.

To be honest I feel like MMA exhausted the matchup, we can only expect him to pull so many strategies out, and I think all of his cards were on the table long before the finals. With a week to prepare, MKP and all the replays of MMA Polt was in good shape compared to MMA who has been going nonstop for nearly a month. Not saying Polt didn't play well or that he didn't deserve it, but under different circumstances we would have had a much better show.

Is it just the GSL finals curse? Or are foreigners really starting to lag behind Koreans that badly?

Polt did his god damn homework, studied his opponent and schooled him. Seems like if a finals isint a 200/200 macro fest or a game 7 nail biter nobody is satisfied. Disgusting. Learn to appreciate all the things these players have to do outside of just these 4 games.

@Carson. I dont believe that Polt would have done significantly better at MLG than MMA. I Think Polt grew a lot during this tournament, Though he probably didn't get as much credit as he should have early on.

People are just disappointed because every GSL finals excluding code A and team league has been pretty one sided. The closest so far was MKP - MVP in the world championship or July vs MC in GSL March.

Another one-sided finals...but I thought it would go MMA's way one-sidedly...dang.

MMA played 5 TvTs to get where he was and had a wealth of games from MLG as well, including several TvTs from MLG. Polt had a huge wealth of games to study to gain an understanding of MMA's play. In addition he had one of the best Terrans in the world MKP on his team seeking vengeance after losing to him in the previous round. You can also see it in a different light and say MMA has had an advantage vs his opponents most of the tournament considering he's only had to practice one match up. Where as both MarineKing and Polt had to play all three races(not just their strongest matchup, like MMA).

Or are foreigners really starting to lag behind Koreans that badly? IDK man maybe a little of both. I don't want to sound like a Polt hater or anything (I'm not) but all those games but Game 2 really felt a bit "build order loss" - ish as some might say. I just really hate watching those, as I don't feel skill plays much of a part in it, rather preparation. But Polt winning Game 2 handily (pretty legit win) makes me feel like the proper player won. And he definitely prepared his builds better, which counts for something, even though I hate hate hate watching those.

It certainly helped that he only had to play TvT, but without questioning whether or not one had an easier road to the finals the huge library of MMA TvTs certainly worked to Polts advantage. It's not like MMA is bad at TvP or TvZ though, IMO his TvZ is his best and he's taken down MC before. I think they both belonged there in the finals, but I gotta wonder how much of an influence MKP/all the TvTs was on their performances.
