We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.
Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.
Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST |
Just wondering, how do you shoot a zerg that's in the ground? :/

ppl don't realise that the partnership with gsl brings in revenue from korea (ad revenue). Also, giving players from outside korea the chance to play vs the best will improve their game a lot.

A korean wins, which one? I certainly don't care, in fact, koreans will take home all the big money, because they are top 3. bitter foreigner much? you're a fucking racist. he absolutely is. It's not racist to only be interested in watching players you know. I don't care about watching barcelona vs real madrid in the champions league, but as soon as a british team's involved I will watch! He didn't say players he knew. He said "without any white players." So even if there were NA players who were asian or black he wouldn't be interested regardless of knowing them or not. That is indeed racist.
That's a bit too far. While I disagree with him, please, you know what he meant, he means white as non-koreans.

Is it me or is pro terran players often supply blocked at 145/145? Seems I have seen it a lot lately.

It seems MMA always play sloppy to put himself at a disadvantage just to showcase his skills :D

Guess I wasn't the only one that doesn't care about the results of a bunch of random koreans. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's the direct results of having only Koreans left. There was so much backstory behind IdrA/MC that it grasped everyone's attention. Losira and MMA just doesn't have that animosity between them, or else it would be a lot different. But having no foreigners remaining definitely won't help the cause. Even before the Idra match, during the Naniwa of earlier matches. This thread was moving much much faster. I know for me personally the level of interest just dropped off, it honestly makes me no difference at all who wins now, because these players mean nothing to me. Did you think that perhaps people are just tired of watching a tournament for an entire day? Stop making baseless assumptions based on your own personal opinion. Also, some of us watch SC2 games for the gameplay... and I'm fairly certain I'm not the only one more interested in the Korean SC2 scene than the western one.
If Idra of Naniwa was still in I guarantee the viewers would be higher than ever.

Last I checked we were trying to call this an e-SPORT, as in a competition. If we're going to not have the best players... why bother trying to call it a sport? It's been raging for ages with people saying that the Koreans really aren't the best.
Well, 6 of them came to MLG, 3 of them made top 3, two of the others were knocked out by one of those 3....
They're better. Why should worse players win lots of money? Because you like them more for playing worse? I'm not sure if I even agree that one can take away "Koreans > Rest of World" from this tournament. This is simply one tournament out of lots of tournaments that there are. Last MLG we saw Naniwa, a European, beat out everyone in an convincing fashion. In the TSL3 the Koreans were all eliminated quickly. Koreans are in the top 3 positions here, but that doesn't make them automatically the best. It just means they did very well this tournament and that's what we should take from it. Only if they start dominating all foreign tournaments can we state that Koreans > Rest of World. And, unfortunately, once "Koreans > Rest of World" becomes true, the game will become much less popular in Europe and America.
MLG Dallas had no Koreans so Naniwa's win isn't relevant in this discussion. TSL3 had lag issues so you really can't take too much away from that. the two most prominent examples of Koreans vs Foreigners in a completely fair setting are IEM and this MLG, both of which Koreans have dominated. The size of the gap between foreign and Korean play is up for debate but Koreans are certainly better right now.

Guess I wasn't the only one that doesn't care about the results of a bunch of random koreans. yes.. random koreans. they are random. july, mma, MC, and losira are random koreans. truly random. gtfo Since I don't watch Korean SC2 in the middle of the night I have never heard of any of them. They don't stream, they don't do twitter, they are never on any of the SC2 shows, western viewers have no attachment to these players. Then don't watch? What do you want? Not let them play because they're better than the players you know? Let Idra win the tournament because he is someone you know? And Koreans do stream. They do do twitter. Not your fault you don't follow them. Not in english. Yes, I wish the biggest Western tournament would not invite any more Koreans. If they want to fly over and own the open bracket with their own money then go for it. But giving them free flight, free hotel, free placement, just so they can sweep the money and kill the western scene, that makes me angry. Maybe they should take the game seriously if they want to consider themselves pros? The biggest tournament in Korea that has a $25000 monthly prize allows seeds into it from MLG, it is FULLY the fault of the foreigners that they simply are not good enough to take that prize. LOL you really think foreigners dont take this seriously? ok, so it's either mimic korean's exactly or be called an amateur.
It is well known that prominen foreginer players don't practice as much as even they self feel they should. Players who we know have admitted this: - Liquid'Ret - Liquid'Tyler - EGiNcontroL - EGIdra
This is like.. the top of the top of foregin SC2 scene...
