We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.
Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.
Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST |

Guess I wasn't the only one that doesn't care about the results of a bunch of random koreans. What? Are you implying games aren't worth watching just because of the players' nationality? They aren't "random Koreans" either. So stupid.... Don't reply to these comments.. people watch games for different reasons. I do because I love starcraft, which means I'll be happy to watch koreans at the top if they are truly the best. Other people watch for the hype, and they feel more excited when their homies play. I understand the feelings of many people, although I feel that shouldn't make them miss quality starcraft games. There is no shortage of quality games, what makes MLG and other tournaments special to me is cheering for personalities I know. Just having random amazing players, that don't speak the language, that are not involved in the western scene (don't stream, don't go on shows, don't contribute) I just don't care about their results. A korean wins, which one? I certainly don't care, in fact, koreans will take home all the big money, because they are top 3. bitter foreigner much? you're a fucking racist. he absolutely is. What has this to do with racism? I feel exactly like this guy, and i dont have ANYTHING against koreans or foreigners in general. The first reason i always liked MLG was, that is was a huge lan where you could find out who was the best in the western scene and cheer for the players you knew and understood. Also, it is necessary for the grwoth of esports that there are tourneys that western players can train for and compare to other western players and not immidiately the best of the world. Imagine you are an american player, have trained alot for the biggest american tournament and you are like "Hmm, maybe im the best player in America, but MC could still take this tourney" See? For a western scene to grow we need players to be able to compare to each other and THEN to the koreans, instead of going to an MLG and being owned up by the best of the world and thus not being able to show if they can compete in the american scene.
Maybe alot of people will disagree with this, but i also know im not the only one feeling like this.

- At MLG Columbus, the Top 3 non-Korean finishers will each be placed into GSL Code A. - At every 2011 Pro Circuit Live Competition after MLG Columbus, GSL placement will occur as follows: - Code S status will be awarded to the highest placing player, regardless of country of origin, who does not already have Code S status.

Look at how low Losira's mineral count is.

lol losira has wasted SO MANY units

MMA will take this. Losira just suicides units,he's very costy-inefficient,and it's only 3-base vs 3-base

I don't think he's the type to go back to the major leagues and would rather stay in the minors and dominate the lower talent. Idra already said he won't go to Korea, not for code A nor code S. In Korea you basically only play the GSL while there's a lot more oppurtunities in the US and Europe Yea i wouldn't want to play in the NFL and play for $50,000 when i can dominate the CFL and win the $250 prize pools. The only prize pools worth anything in the US are the MLG overall championship and blizzcon and the koreans will come to win those. Thats the problem with the north american players, they want to settle for lesser leagues because becoming the best takes too much work. I think idra doesnt want to go back to korea because he got run out the first time because of his attitude is my guess. He didn't get run out -.-.. He said the scene is easier to succeed here instead of playing in one hard tournament. Between NASL, IEM, Dreamhack, and MLG, the prize pool for foreign events is bigger than that of the GSL. Korea has their own smaller tournaments, I realize, but I believe the two scenes are pretty equal in terms of prize pool, and the foreign scene is much easier. It makes a lot more sense to stay in the US, where you were _born_, than to live in a foreign country where you'll probably end up making less money. Foreigners can say goodbye to easy money. If koreans start invading western lans foreigners are gonna be bankrupt soon. or learn to be better gamer... Won't happen, if Koreans start coming to major western tournaments then western e-sports will die. They will just dominate everything, the scene will get stagnant and boring, and that will be it. So we just disallow Koreans and crown paper champions? OH LOOK! IDRA WINS MLG ANAHEIM! HE'S THE BEST IN THE WORLD! If the Koreans aren't allowed to come, every champion will just be a paper champion that won't be considered the best because of the competition. If the foreigners want to get better, they need to play the best in the world. They can come if they pay their own way. What makes me sick is we are paying their way to kill our own scene. Koreans will take all the major money from this MLG. That is gonna really hurt the scene. Do you think Thorzain and Naniwa will pay their way to come to the next MLG to watch the Koreans take it all again? How about the MLG after that? It will quickly kill the scene with the Koreans winning everything. I don't think you know what the meaning of scene is and that you have hardly paid attention to any competitive video game scene until SC2.

It's not racist to only be interested in watching players you know. I don't care about watching barcelona vs real madrid in the champions league, but as soon as a british team's involved I will watch! He didn't say players he knew. He said "without any white players." So even if there were NA players who were asian or black he wouldn't be interested regardless of knowing them or not. That is indeed racist.
You used quotation marks but I don't see anywhere in the text where that was said. Please point it out.
Anyway, not too interested in watching the rest of this tournament either.
