We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum. Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service. Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST

I'm getting pretty depressed by this attitude. Last I checked we were trying to call this an e-SPORT, as in a competition. If we're going to not have the best players... why bother trying to call it a sport? It's been raging for ages with people saying that the Koreans really aren't the best. Well, 6 of them came to MLG, 3 of them made top 3, two of the others were knocked out by one of those 3.... They're better. Why should worse players win lots of money? Because you like them more for playing worse? I'm not sure if I even agree that one can take away "Koreans > Rest of World" from this tournament. This is simply one tournament out of lots of tournaments that there are. Last MLG we saw Naniwa, a European, beat out everyone in an convincing fashion. In the TSL3 the Koreans were all eliminated quickly. Koreans are in the top 3 positions here, but that doesn't make them automatically the best. It just means they did very well this tournament and that's what we should take from it. Only if they start dominating all foreign tournaments can we state that Koreans > Rest of World. And, unfortunately, once "Koreans > Rest of World" becomes true, the game will become much less popular in Europe and America. ![]()

It's something manufactured by competition to get more interest in competitive sports. Root for your home team or whatever even though you don't even know these guys... So a lot of sports tend to increase national pride and etc. But it is kinda nationalistic. Or maybe racist. But it is normal.

Just having random amazing players, that don't speak the language, that are not involved in the western scene (don't stream, don't go on shows, don't contribute) I just don't care about their results. A korean wins, which one? I certainly don't care, in fact, koreans will take home all the big money, because they are top 3. It's exactly what I said. I think people watch SC2 tournaments for different reasons. I do because I love starcraft. Hence, I want to see the best of the best give me the most retarded nerd chills possible because they're so goddamn good!. You do because you feel excited by players you feel connected to do well in a tournament. It's all fine, what I'm saying, is that you shouldn't let that preference deter you from watching some of the best starcraft around. I love ManU, but when they lose in ro4 in UEFA Champions League, I don't just suddenly not watch the finals, I watch it and get thrilled by amazing games. Hell, I was dying in my seat when Liverpool won that finals vs AC Milan a few years back. Also, to other people, there actually is some connection. In my case, I've been watching MC boss it up for a while, I watch GSL every time I can, and enjoy it thoroughly. I actually watch TONS of starcraft and love it all lol.

If they want to come and pay their own ticket like EVERY OTHER PLAYER, then fine, but don't just give them a free ride to sweep the tourny. So you're mad because the Koreans are better currently? And the Koreans brought fans to the events. They had autograph signings.
