The group play part of the event will be scheduled ahead of time. We have set a default day and time but they can be played earlier if needed. Like all events that are open for registration, we do expect forfeits. Players will be eliminated once they are deemed inactive.

This is a great tournament format. Theres lots of money and prizes in the open bracket to create a lot of action there.

Agree with that. But i think the pro tournament wont have as many rounds. The thing is, for an "amateur" this is a pretty tough schedule.

Also, im also kinda surprised by the "amateur" prizepool.

who decides who is a "pro" and who is an "amateur"? i play on the same level as "pros" but i dont have a contract, so im by definition an amateur? what happens if i now sign up for amateur division and get contract in the middle of the groupstage? (actually not unlikely)

The first two stages of the event are both group play, with the top 2 in each group advancing. This means you don't have to play every match, but it would hurt you to miss matches. You will also be able to play before the times if you can get your opponent to agree to play early.

For the complexity tournament the format was 32 invited players and then anyone could sign up for the open tournament. Complexity did not invite qxc/optik so both decided to play in the much longer open tournament for a spot in the finals. This event also has 2 divisions but is a lot different. For one the finals don't combine the two, they are completely separate. The amateurs will still have to play a lot more/longer than the pros. There will be a lot more pro players since it is not limited to 32 like the complexity event. Just to name a few differences.

I see lots of problems with this tournament format, restrictions.

Edit: Tbh with this sponsor and prizepool, a bigger tournament (in prestige) could be done imo.
