The group play part of the event will be scheduled ahead of time. We have set a default day and time but they can be played earlier if needed. Like all events that are open for registration, we do expect forfeits. Players will be eliminated once they are deemed inactive.

This is a great tournament format. Theres lots of money and prizes in the open bracket to create a lot of action there.

This is great, but I just have to say something:

The most annoying thing recently with tournaments has been that they all think they're hot enough to have players commit to 20 different dates/occasions/rounds over a span of 1/2/3 months.

Now I don't know if Players are expected to show up and play at each and every one of the "Rounds" (I'm assuming so, can't find any info saying otherwise on the website). If so, the tournament is expecting a pretty big commitment from players, making them screw all vacation plans for their entire summer.

Again, I'm assuming players have to show up at every round. If not, I guess I'm a fool for posting this.

But you're asking every player to set aside every 3rd day of his/her summer from June 23rd and 2 months forward. If this is true, you need to clarify that fact on your sign up page, or I sort of fear this tournament might be riddled with walk overs and no shows.

If I'm wrong about having to show up every 3rd day, I'm sorry. But you need to post some info clarifying the matter either way. I won't commit to this without some clarification -- and you'll save yourself plenty of walk overs and no shows.

Agree with that. But i think the pro tournament wont have as many rounds. The thing is, for an "amateur" this is a pretty tough schedule.

Also, im also kinda surprised by the "amateur" prizepool.

1. Eligibility. The Tournament is open all individuals in the following countries that are 16 years of age or older as of June 2, 2011, and who properly register for the Tournament (each a "Player"): Canada (excluding residents residing in the Province of Quebec), China (excluding Hong Kong), Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Netherlands, Norway, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States. Each Player may be required to show proof of age and residence. ALL PLAYERS MUST OWN A BLIZZARD NORTH AMERICAN ACCOUNT. IF YOU DO NOT SATISFY THESE REQUIREMENTS, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER AND/OR PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURNAMENT. Participation in the Tournament is also subject to compliance with the requirements specified below and in the Game Play Rules. Employees of Sponsors and their immediate families (parent, child, sibling and the spouses of each) are not eligible to register for the Tournament. The Tournament is void where prohibited by applicable law.

- That means there are a lot of countries who can't play @_@""

Ok that makes things easier. Guess no Sweden allowed. Don't have to ruin my entire summer.

Sweden just added to the list ^^

They need to do a good job advertising this and getting it out to people.

I don't want it to end up like StarWars with some of the best players in the world yet only getting 3-5k stream views...

who decides who is a "pro" and who is an "amateur"? i play on the same level as "pros" but i dont have a contract, so im by definition an amateur? what happens if i now sign up for amateur division and get contract in the middle of the groupstage? (actually not unlikely)

I see a lot of US players making it in since most top players from europe won't be able to participate.
Wanted to take part in it but too bad many countries can't play.

The first two stages of the event are both group play, with the top 2 in each group advancing. This means you don't have to play every match, but it would hurt you to miss matches. You will also be able to play before the times if you can get your opponent to agree to play early.

I dont really agree with this "pro am" type thing, not much separates the two groups imo, and where do you draw the distinction. For example in the cpmplexity tournament, qxc and optikzero played in the amateur tournament, but they both play on professional salaries... If youre basimg it on skill, that see,s very subjective... Otherwise event looks great

For the complexity tournament the format was 32 invited players and then anyone could sign up for the open tournament. Complexity did not invite qxc/optik so both decided to play in the much longer open tournament for a spot in the finals. This event also has 2 divisions but is a lot different. For one the finals don't combine the two, they are completely separate. The amateurs will still have to play a lot more/longer than the pros. There will be a lot more pro players since it is not limited to 32 like the complexity event. Just to name a few differences.

So if your opponent rather takes the freewin he just doesnt agree.. :/

I see lots of problems with this tournament format, restrictions.

Edit: Tbh with this sponsor and prizepool, a bigger tournament (in prestige) could be done imo.
