I want to know the races of my opponent so I can practice... what the hell. Lol yah I looked up my opponent and he isn't found xD EDIT: I did a profile search for mine instead and that pulled him up on sc2ranks, try that.
Same exact thing here, character doesn't exist.

I cant find my guy on SC2 ranks at all.

LOL, sorry, I meant it as if you can't contact your opponent at all and agree on a different time, then you are forced to playing the game at the actual time it was supposed to be according to the rules.

Yeah, i guessed that would be the case. However i might just win because according to SCRanks my opponent doesnt actually exist at all

Which on a dispute basis would most likely award you the win as your opponent was unreachable.

Ok this is getting kind of odd now, by looking under 'my events' i can see the names and character codes of all the people i am meant to be playing over the coming weeks, and yet i cant find any of them on SC2Ranks. Strange, but i guess they must exist :S

wow first time seeing Nestea in a tournament with a lot of foreigners.
|
couldn't find mine either but im sure it's just a bug, can't wait to get dominated in my first Sc2 tournament!

Try adding them on actual B.Net

...How do they expect anyone to be able to do something like this? We have lives in North America...
who the fuck has off every 4 days and has time to play hours each day? I guess the nerds win, agin.
I can never play any tournaments.... they're always Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.. three days I'm always working..

Just because the tournament doesn't cater to your availability specifically doesn't mean that you have to go off ranting in the thread about it, and if other people can participate without any troubles then there's no reason to single them out in any way. I really doubt the entire tournament scene is out to make it so you can't participate, I think you're overreacting slightly.

Question about Match Thread.
1. Is the only way to access it through the link in the email?
2. Will my opponent be notified in any way that there is a message waiting for him (or her, I guess) or do I just hope he sees it?
Thanks.

The most annoying thing recently with tournaments has been that they all think they're hot enough to have players commit to 20 different dates/occasions/rounds over a span of 1/2/3 months.
Now I don't know if Players are expected to show up and play at each and every one of the "Rounds" (I'm assuming so, can't find any info saying otherwise on the website). If so, the tournament is expecting a pretty big commitment from players, making them screw all vacation plans for their entire summer.
Again, I'm assuming players have to show up at every round. If not, I guess I'm a fool for posting this.
But you're asking every player to set aside every 3rd day of his/her summer from June 23rd and 2 months forward. If this is true, you need to clarify that fact on your sign up page, or I sort of fear this tournament might be riddled with walk overs and no shows.
If I'm wrong about having to show up every 3rd day, I'm sorry. But you need to post some info clarifying the matter either way. I won't commit to this without some clarification -- and you'll save yourself plenty of walk overs and no shows.
I, for one, am actually gonna end up contributing to this problem. I signed up for the tournament, working under the assumption that tomorrow's date, Thursday the 23rd, was the ONLY date. I was like "Oh, I was lucky enough to get Thursday off work, let's try losing in this tournament"... I knew about the other dates, but did not know that even if you lose on the first day, that you're not out of the tournament. This really changes it, cause if I have a choice of playing in a tournament I stand no chance in, and earning my day's wages... which do you think is gonna be picked.
But either way, I did not know that I had to play in ALL group events for the next 3 weeks before they tell me that I lose. Therefore, everyone in my group gets FREE wins!

Complain more--or read before signing up.
If you need to find something that suits your schedule, keep looking. There are many places around the country that host local LANs (check the tourney thread). Go spend a Saturday doing that. Don't flame on about a group of people trying to make something cool, new and exciting happen in this community. It's going to make more people happy than it will upset.
Sorry you can't play (even more sorry we're not in the same group), but deal with it. Enjoy those wages.

In the tournament schedule it had all the dates you would have to play, it was made pretty clear that it is going to be longer than a 1 day tournament. It's not the tournament organisers fault that you guys cant read.

This!
The organizers posted the schedule and rules well in advance. So far I think the organization has been impeccable!

Hey I just came into contact with my first round opponent and we agreed to play an hour later. 9pm cdt. Do i need to report this somehow? Or is it ok as long as you upload the replays
|
Yeah the schedule was kinda odd, but then again, no tournament schedule is going to agree and align with EVERY players availability.
The website was very comprehensive on what days/times matches would be played on. The only thing that was a little sparse about it all was whether it was a single match to be played or a Bo3 (as the emails we all got states) for the Prelim rounds.
Aside from that, and despite that my first two opponents are Diamonds, I'm looking forward to this tourney. It's my first, its a big event, its an OPEN event and its got great coverage by way of a very long list of well known players and good Casters.
I feel for those who can't participate in the entire thing, but consider this a learning experience for your next one! Hope to see you all again in those also!

i got an email last night that explained that if you get in contact with your opponent to change the time of the game, then you need to contact their support to make sure they're aware.. quote from the email below:
+ Show Spoiler +The default time for this match is Thursday, June 23rd at 8:00 PM CDT. If both players agree to play at a different time, please contact support to have the time changed. Matches may be played before or on Thursday, June 23rd. No extensions will be granted past the deadline. You can communicate with your opponent in the match thread.
