I really think they should at least let him finish the Code S season. This entire incident is terrible, and CoCa absolutely deserves to be punished for his actions. However, having the GSL tournament instantly also suffer as a result seems both ironic and unncessary.

If I lose, he gets a slot in GSL, which I already have. This increases the likelihood that I will play someone I have a very high chance to win against in a later tournament where it matters. Compare that to savior. Bets assloads of money against himself, then loses on purpose, in the biggest event. Two different levels of bad there... Very well said. Also, I don't know whether it has been discussed, but I seriously doubt Coca would "forfeit" his code S spot voluntarily. I agree that he should be punished, but I think people are overreacting. In no way should this be considered as match fixing or even compared to the severity of Savior's incident.

but then again, what about the blizzcon finals then, even though it was not directly chatted about in-game ^^

I doubt that these kids planned it out as is evident by the in-game chat. Sad to see Coca go from Code S, he's a fun player to watch, but I guess it was the right move.

But those kind of match fixing things should be dealt with to preserve pro gaming tournaments imo but then again, what about the blizzcon finals then, even though it was not directly chatted about in-game ^^ i'm pretty sure that was a result of just pooling 1st place/2nd place money and split it, combined with the korean sense of "wanting to put on a good show"

I never feel so bad. CoCa lost everything due to nothing. And I wonder if he won the 3rd game what will happen then? It is like CoCa just wanted to practice with Byun one game more and decided to gg 2 game. I am so crazy about the made decision. PS and for example in Korean Weekly we have a lot of matches when one player doesn't appear to play his game. For example KeeN vs Golden. KeeN didn't appear so it means he forfeited his match. In another example in http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/ESV_TV_Korean_Weekly/Finals_3 GuMiho didn't play vs his teammate Sirius. GuMiho had GSL slot and Sirius no. Yes there was no chat but does it matter?

I agree as well, while what Coca and Byun did was not pure as white, it wasn't as dark as night. There is a large difference between this and match fixing. While neither are acceptable, I feel the Korean community is taking this to level of severity that should be reserved for such things like match fixing. Also, I would hate to be Coca, I could not even imagine how bad it must be to have The Emperor look at you with disappointment.

all this time i thought the coca/byun hoo hah was because the game was for a code A spot - whereas it was just a quarter final in one of the weeklies. while they're both dumb for doing so, obviously it's been blown exponentially out of proportion

All SlayerS Terrans chose to enjoy G-Star event instead of helping CoCa practice ZvT. SlayerS team should blame themselves for this.

He succumbed to peer pressure from an older friend and somebody he probably looks up to (CoCa is 17 I think.) If everybody is honest with themselves, especially if you see the extended chat, we could probably all see ourselves in CoCa's position and possibly doing roughly the same thing. I'm not saying he was right, but for a 17 year old to meet a bump in the road and not respond appropriately is pretty common. Also, how the HELL do you not have anybody to practice ZvT with when you are on SlayerS? His team more or less abandoned him apparently when he was fighting for a Ro8 spot against 3 Terran... Maybe it would be better if he joined some other team, I know plenty of teams would want him.

Am I missing something? Shouldn't you be blaming Prime Clan for not helping Byun practice TvZ? Or blaming SlayerS for making CoCa too good ZvT?

Slayers Management did the right thing to discipline Coca's actions regarding to ESV controversy (he is not kicked/banned from Slayers/GSL), but I do not think GSL should be taken into account in further punishing Coca's actions because it seems to be blown out of proportion. It will take time to quiet down before Coca is able to play again. It was wrong, but not to the point of illegal activity. People make mistakes and the kid is young.
