Yup and will continue to do so. I am far and way not alone in this opinion. People will always disagree on what is the most suitable casting style, what is important is consistency and knowing why you are doing something the way that you are.

When you go into super-speed-play-by-play mode, you don't let the other caster get a single word in.
Gretorp didn't have a chance to say anything towards the end, your play by play is good, but it feels really weird when one caster doesn't have room to say a word for such a long while... Gotta turn it down a notch. It's a pure play-by-play situation, there is no room or need for analysis. The analyst should not be talking. Sports commentary is not about sharing the mic 50/50, it's about fitting into your role and speaking at the correct time. This is why Gretorp takes the majority of the airtime during quieter moments and I take the majority of the airtime during high-action moments. That's how sports commentary works, it's also what we agreed to do before the cast. You assume that your argument that SC2 commentary is so similar to sports commentary is valid. And some might disagree. In sports action is basically focused on one place (ball in ball games, small ring in fighting games, first few athletes in running,....) the viewer actually sees basically everything he needs to see and the commentator is there to provide more emotions and excitement. In SC2 that is not true, the second caster often has his own monitor and therefore can provide information about important ,often more important than what the play-by-play caster is currently watching, things happening somewhere else on the map which the play-by-play caster missed. And that happens very often. The rest is my subjective opinion. If you want to keep the intensive WPM and basically make any input of the co-caster impossible during tense situations you have to be much better at Starcraft. The reason is that by depriving yourself of his input you have to make up for it by being able to commentate and at the same time at least watch the minimap with the same skill pro players do and have reasonably good game sense to know what is actually important. And I really do not think that even if you do that, the quality of the cast be will anywhere near that of good casting duos that do not have such strictly defined roles and times. Day[9] sometimes has similar problem (more in the past) and he has a lot more experience playing and even then it is much better when he lets the other person have some input even in tense situations. Of course what I said is hard to do well, the casting duo has to be able to pull it off and that might be hard for people commentating for the first time. So in that scenario the strict division of roles might be better solution, but I think it is still possible to let the other caster talk, by having the smallest pauses here and there.
So your entire argument is that Totalbiscuit should stop talking here and there during play-by-play moments because his co-caster may have seen something on the minimap that is happening elsewhere on the map? The problem is that things happen so quickly during big battles that even one caster can barely describe it all in the time that the battle takes. No SC2 casting duo that I'm aware of will both describe the same battle. One person talks for a time, then gives up the mic to the other. It's what Day9 and Chill did in teh TSL3 and it's what Tastosis do.

So much elitism against casters here that it is fucking unreal.

MCC just needs to get banned, dudes a total wanker... TB you were great last night, I love your upbeat commentary.

Really liked Totalbiscuit, should have the guy on more often. I didn't see the particularly see the "synergy" between Gretorp and him like some of you guys are talking saying - quite the opposite even, I thought they didn't fit too well at all, but it was still really good.

A little mistake, moman was a member of the french national team in bw,not the spanish

Agreed, people are fucking brutal on the casters, criticizing every little minute detail of what they say. TB you did a great job, and I'm sure you know by now this ridiculous criticism is just what comes with being a caster.

My guess : someone is half sleepy and launched the week5-div2 replay instead of week6-div2. Haven't seen the show intro though, so wait and see....
Edit : preshow it is then. Never noticed it before.

Ah good of you to selectively quote the unimportant part of that paragraph.

You should get a couple of nice shiny overlays to idiot proof it.
Some "Week X Highlights" text or whatever that you can just slap on top.

... Whoops! I've mostly been popping in to watch my favorite players recently, just too busy with other stuff. I also didn't really know when the re-stream for Europe started so I thought the tapes had gotten switched or something. Keep it up, Geoff, hehe.

That would be nice. I don't usually watch NASL, but caught the second half of the US broadcast today and wanted to see the first part that I missed, so I turned on the restream a bit earlier and saw a game from last week, just assumed someone had goofed up.
