i think that total biscuits casting was fine, i just think he needed to give more of the time on the mic to gretorp, its a dual cast, and i think each caster should get approximately the same quantity of time discussing the game.

TB interrupted gretorp a lot and that was a bit distracting.

This is the one thing I was worried about with TotalBiscuit doing duo casting, something you need to work on dude... When you go into super-speed-play-by-play mode, you don't let the other caster get a single word in.

Gretorp didn't have a chance to say anything towards the end, your play by play is good, but it feels really weird when one caster doesn't have room to say a word for such a long while... Gotta turn it down a notch.

It's a pure play-by-play situation, there is no room or need for analysis. The analyst should not be talking.

Sports commentary is not about sharing the mic 50/50, it's about fitting into your role and speaking at the correct time. This is why Gretorp takes the majority of the airtime during quieter moments and I take the majority of the airtime during high-action moments. That's how sports commentary works, it's also what we agreed to do before the cast.

You assume that your argument that SC2 commentary is so similar to sports commentary is valid. And some might disagree. In sports action is basically focused on one place (ball in ball games, small ring in fighting games, first few athletes in running,....) the viewer actually sees basically everything he needs to see and the commentator is there to provide more emotions and excitement. In SC2 that is not true, the second caster often has his own monitor and therefore can provide information about important ,often more important than what the play-by-play caster is currently watching, things happening somewhere else on the map which the play-by-play caster missed. And that happens very often.
The rest is my subjective opinion. If you want to keep the intensive WPM and basically make any input of the co-caster impossible during tense situations you have to be much better at Starcraft. The reason is that by depriving yourself of his input you have to make up for it by being able to commentate and at the same time at least watch the minimap with the same skill pro players do and have reasonably good game sense to know what is actually important. And I really do not think that even if you do that, the quality of the cast be will anywhere near that of good casting duos that do not have such strictly defined roles and times. Day[9] sometimes has similar problem (more in the past) and he has a lot more experience playing and even then it is much better when he lets the other person have some input even in tense situations.
Of course what I said is hard to do well, the casting duo has to be able to pull it off and that might be hard for people commentating for the first time. So in that scenario the strict division of roles might be better solution, but I think it is still possible to let the other caster talk, by having the smallest pauses here and there.

So your entire argument is that Totalbiscuit should stop talking here and there during play-by-play moments because his co-caster may have seen something on the minimap that is happening elsewhere on the map? The problem is that things happen so quickly during big battles that even one caster can barely describe it all in the time that the battle takes. No SC2 casting duo that I'm aware of will both describe the same battle. One person talks for a time, then gives up the mic to the other. It's what Day9 and Chill did in teh TSL3 and it's what Tastosis do.

I did not say that two people should describe the same battle, and by pause I meant very small pause that the second caster might use to note that while the battle being described seems to end in draw in the meantime dts/drops/... killed all the workers. If the second caster has nothing to say the play-by-play one can continue with his WPM attack after pause as short as 1-2 seconds. Of course if both casters are at one place this becomes even easier and even such short pauses unnecessary. And in other caster duos there is more space for the other caster to note something as they do not have the WPM of TB.
Also just to note, there is no need for a caster to describe the battle in total detail, viewers can see it. And for some people that do not get it : I am not saying TB's casting is bad, I mostly enjoy it quite a lot. I just think it has some small flaws, but I was more commenting on his argument that sports casting style is good style for casting sc2.

TB and Day[9] are pure solo casters. If they have cocasters they need to have a mute button to ever speak.

Is that comment even necessary?

QXC's control has looked really awful lately, I feel so bad, but ever since he moved to Spain his play has been really lackluster.

Is TB going to commentate the entire week? If so I will have to see it w/o sound. He was funny to listen to the first few times I heard him but tbh after that he simply gets annoying. Would prefer Kelli
Hes really more of a comedian then a caster.

I find TB's mistakes and lack of knowledge about the game completely distracting. I'm thinking of one moment where he said "OAH HE MAKES HIM USE ALL HIS FORCEFIELDS, NO ENERGY LEFT ON THOSE SENTRIES" and then the player promptly drops 10-12 more forcefields. He has an annoying lisp or something when he pronounces words like 'from' as well. I think Incontrol's play by play style is pretty good and i really enjoy gretorps analysis, especially when he is talking about the emotional state of players.

Just venting frustration. I feel good commentators are really important. Some, like Demuslim during Dreamhack, can enrich the experience greatly, while others can cheapen it.

Incontrol + Gretorp is pretty harmless. Sure, Gretorp is awful but Incontrol is pleasant to listen to.

Incontrol + Idra is actually good, I want to listen to what they say.

Gretorp + this guy is pretty awful. I can't focus on the game. The only thing that would be worse would be to add a screamer like Day9 to completely ruin it.

I actually like TB's casting, I don't know why but Gretorp seems way more relaxed than usual thanks to him.
I like to give credits for that to TB, with TB doing the nice play-by-play, Gretorp can really throw out his analysis and he doesn't have to talk around IdrA/Incontrol.
It appears I have been chosen.

I really like the diversity in NASL casters. But yeah, for most people it seems the glass is always half empty...

Why not cheer and praise on the forums when your favorite caster is on instead of bitching when one you dont like is casting?

That's the problem with forums; there's not many people who will talk about the things they like, there will be a shit-ton of whiners whining about things they don't like.

What I find funny is TB telling Idra (and by telling I mean posting on the biggest SC news site in the internets) that he declares gg too fast while himself repeating he cant do anything like a brocen record entire game.

Should we not complain when we have things to complain about? Thats pretty dumb since it will in no way help the progress of the scene. If people are unhappy with a certain commentator why should they not say so? This is not a charity, some of us are paying to see these games and want to atleast be able to voice our opinions about what we get for that money. E-sports is nothing without the spectators and their opinions therefor matters alot.

Sure, comments like "I just hate TB" and nothing more is pretty useless but why should the public be forced to have a commentator if they do not like him, I can see no reason
