Been waiting for this, really want to see some Code A players vs Code S and see who comes out on top because Code A is quite powerful too!

Not sure about that, they said the top 64 ranked players in terms of the previous GSLs, so I thikn there may be some that are not currently in any code but will make it in (eg. leenock? etc..)

The sad thing about the prize money is, just for being in the ro32 on this tournament you early 2/3 of the amount the Code A champion recieves :< And the same amount for 2nd place Code A

Ya it's based off of points, dunno if it's been posted by GOM anywhere. So even though leenock is in Code B he's been in Code S and code A for a while and probably has enough points to qualify for this.

Its "only" 93k US dollars.

hmmmm GSL not having matches on MLG days. On twitter i saw the sundance said he was working something out with GSL for player invitations. Maybe we might see koreans at Columbus?

ZeNEXLiveForever joined the army, so his #45 rank will open up one more spot, which puts in MVPviOlet and MVPKeen with 130 points each Idra is still ranked #31, so depending on his participation we will see a tiebreaker for the last spot Source: Liquipedia (Bomber and Ryung are listed at 130 points, too, but they accumulated more points due to their advancement to CodeA Ro4 this season already) Edit: Nevermind, I forgot that Keen is also in Ro4 this season, so only viOlet's participation depends on Idra's decision to travel to Korea once again

From a "strictly business" point of view, you are certainly right. But it would be sad to by-pass the most competitive tournament in the world, and one that's going to be really significant to the fans, for the easy money of a NA based tournaments assorted with a bunch of good to very good European players. That's the difference between sportive competition and stealing candy from babies.

would be nice if idra goes back for this
and this make the code a games super important as bomber and ryung is just outside the cut off. although with some absence in top 60, they would have made it anyway.
wondering if the players are seeded based on their points.

Fortunately Bomber and Keen have enough points to make it through, but unfortunately it seems Ryung is 65th and just barely on the outside looking in. As someone mentioned before LiveForever might be in the army so that might free up a spot. If Idra decides not to participate then violet gets in as well.
edit: ninja'd
|
When they say "Top 64 players in terms of 2011 Regular Season Point Ranking", does that mean the first 3 GSL seasons from 2010 don't count?
|
IPL/NASL/EG teamleague, and even DH if you make it to Super Tournament finals, conflict with this, so I'd say there's no chance whatsoever of Idra attending, even if he could technically play with his NASL/IPL games from Korea.
|
|
I'd like to note, IdrA still qualifies.(31st place)
Will he play in it, it the question.

I believe that GSL WC is counted the same as GSLs, with the exception that the WC points is not valid next year while the points from GSLs are accumulative from year to year.

Assuming the list on liquipedia is up to date as of today (though I don't see the rankings changing anymore that could affect up to top64), we can assume only 3 or 4 players not participating:
Ret, Idra, and LiveForever. Might think Loner could be back in China, and I'm not sure if he attempted to qualify for the latest code A. Loner may have left, but I guess going back to Korea wouldn't seem unlikely for him.
Now, assuming at least those 3 are not going to show up then Keen, Violet, and a 3-way tie with Min, Creator and Nuts are up for the last 3 spots.
If Idra and Ret decide to participate, then only Keen gets bumped up.
Edit: Oh wait, no. If Violet and Keen make it through the Up and Downs they can knock someone out. Ryung is not safe if one of them advances and he does not.

Wow, that's a lot of money. I'm excited to see the Code S and A players duke it out. I like how GOM is mixing in different tournaments like the GSTL, World Championship and now the Super Tournament. Don't get me wrong, I like the GSL seasonal tournaments, but a little variety helps, too.

The group drawing ceremony (if there is one) will be sick and full of suspense :D

Idra's looking really unstoppable lately but i dont think he can take the huge amount of talent/skill in this tourney with his mentality atm.

Dont think this will be group based, since it says it was like the previous seasons before gsl code S, hence why it says ro64 is bo3 format. And to be honest this format is just so much more awesome because every single match there's the impending doom of elimination hanging over the players heads, makes it so much more awesome to watch.

What's wrong with the normal GSL format? I'm barely able to follow the format for moving between Code S and Code A, and now there's this other one-off tournament that combines them together? I just don't get why they're doing this. Is this going to replace the entire GSL format or is it a one-time thing?
It will be cool to see some matchups of the greats who are in Code A.

It will be cool to see some matchups of the greats who are in Code A. One time thing (well, once per year).
The obvious answer is that they're trying to introduce some variety to the GSL season. Same reason they organised the GSTL and the GSWC. The GSL Super Tournament and The Blizzard Cup later this year round off the usual GSL format.

It will be cool to see some matchups of the greats who are in Code A. I think it's just a one time (once a year?) thing. It's basically the old GSL open format but instead of a huge qaulifying tournament the top 64 of the gsl rankings are invited. Correct me if I'm wrong!
I would think the reasoning is to give the Code A players a shot at some big money without having to get through the fairly brutal path into code S, thats just my assumptions though.

I don't think the 2011 MLG Columbus casters have been officially been announced, but the GTSL tournament does have an explicit break for MLG.
Regardless, nothing says if Day9 casts the GTSL that he has to cast all of it, so he just could fly back to the USA after casting the first 2 weeks.

Does winning or going far in this tournament reward code S to code A players?

And god damn this is during my Exam period in the UK A levels . Guess I will be watching very very little of it .

The prize structure is ridiculously top-heavy. I really don't think that having 1st place > 3x 2nd place is that good. Still should be a sick tournament, and love the MLG considerations.
|
The prize distribution is so bad, one guy take 50% of the total cash. The runner up should get 50% of the winner's prize (60k won) and increase the others.
The current system makes 1% of the players very well off, while the others get really low amount and barely gets motivated to continue playing.

Its like this for every GSL, the open seasons and even Code S proportionally.
Doesn't mean anyone has stopped playing. If anything, they'd play harder to place higher, versus being content getting a ro8/ro16 each time and scooping in more money than they actually deserve. The top heavy end motivates these players to strive to win each time, rather than simply being satifiied with an average placing.

Thats good actually. Why? Because the winner is fairly rewarded. There are so many touraments around the world that has almost the same amount of money for all first three places which is funny.

I'm also going to have the agree that the prize distribution is pretty terrible for most SC2 tournaments... with most having 50 or 100% of the prize pool going to the winner, which is way too top heavy. I think IPL had it right with 2500/1500/1000 for top three. Hopefully their $50K tournament doesn't award $25K for first.

another huge GSL tournament!
GSL remains the leader in the sc2 scene
|
Can they atleast think of a better name, Super Tournament is really lame lol This is awesome tho since a GSL is kinda diminishing in the foreign view because of all the big tournaments here
|
Holy guacamole. that's ridiculous. I hope GOMTV finds success with this.
It would be awesome for idra to go out though lol.
|
damn. Either Ryung or Keen wont be in it.
|
So this is what Tasteless didn't want to leak last night at SotG. Quite excited for this!
|
|
Do they get all this money mainly from sponsorships?? Wow!
Because I don't see the season ticks being that much of revenue..
|
So cool, i actually miss the old style 64 straight up style tournament. Just feel like it allows better players to go through.
|
This tourny looks awesome but I wish the prize pool wasn't so top heavy. Awesome for the guy who wins but makes it hard for any of the other pro gamers to actually make a living. Not good for the esports scene IMO
|
So this is going to be super exciting. I cannot wait to see the crazy matches, and there are bound to be so many of them! :D
|
I think Idra would stand to benefit in participating in this Super tournament just to show the Koreans what they are missing and prove a point that he made the right choice in leaving, ie he doesn't need them but in actual fact they need him (to bring in the international viewership).
Especially now that he has overcome his weakness, ie ZvP, I think he can win this or show that foreigners are competing at a high level overseas cos lets face it the foreigners left in GSL are in a slump of late. It would also make a good storyline, The Return of the Gracken! I think it will be one of the main storylines in Korea if Idra were to go back and participate.
|
Watch it be another MVP v MKP finals.
MKP has been improving vs MVP. He went from a 4-0 to a 4-2 loss. Maybe 4-3 next time? (or gasp: 3-4 with the victory to MKP!!!)
|
re: chill
my guess is that they have lost some viewers recently and want to go back to the older format. maybe i'm wrong. maybe they are just experimenting?
i think they are trying to find the right formula to get the most viewers
|
I'm a bit confused about this tournament. Is it the top 64 players by GSL points? Or is it just Code S+Code A at that particular month?
It would be incredible if Day9 ends up casting it. He mentioned on SotG last night that he is going to visit his brother in korea in a couple weeks. JP also asked tasteless if he wanted to make an announcement about GSL, but tasteless said he had to wait until GSL announces it. Rumor rumor rumor...
|
Koreans at Columbus yes please!
whoops never mind, I misunderstood the format
|
IdrA missed the last two GSL's... wonder if there's any possiblity of him drawing an invite?

This will be amazing once they rename it from the Super Tournament haha

he's ~30th on points

I normally don't have a problem with lopsided prize distributions since prize money is not the primary source of income for most progamers, but since many Korean pros don't have incomes and don't stream/coach I do wish first place didn't pay out so much.

The super tournament was planned way back at the beginning of the year, before NASL, IPL, etc were even announced. It's just a once per year thing for the sake of adding variety. This announcement is only specifying the details and schedule.

I don't think it matters, he did well enough in the GSLs that he participated in that he has enough points to play. It just comes down to whether or not he wants to go to Korea for like a month.

last time GSL and MLG conflicted, IdrA tried to get his play schedule for GSL changed ahead of time so he could do both, but they didn't do it.
MLG is pretty important for NA SC2, and EG. it would be a shame if he couldn't do both (assuming he wants to do both).

Don't forget that if he skips MLG Columbus, he will not be seeded in the following MLG Anaheim, and will be forced to play through the Open Bracket. I would consider Anaheim to have the highest competition level out of all the Opens due to its location and gamer density in the LA area. MLG is really rewarding for the top 16 who are consistent, but the drawback is that they must participate in basically every MLG event.

wow wow! This is tournament is gonna be super nice. Really looking forward to it!

I highly doubt Koreans would be at MLG. Unfortunately, the prize pool isn't worth it. The top Korean players who could take MLG (MC, MVP, MKP, etc) will be playing in the GSL. The teams wouldn't want to invest a plane ticket + other expenses for a $5000 (?) first place prize. It's much cheaper to fly to europe than the us.

I really like that GOM is mixing it up with regular GSLs, GSTL, WC and now the super tournament. But I think it would be better if they gave at least some spots (8 or so) to an open qualifier.

Ah so they gave points for the world championships. Great initiative by GOM to try to attract some more foreigners to the Super Tournament. Even though it saddens me that this will force Ryung, Keen, and others out, many more viewers would tune in if White-ra, Morrow, and co. attended. IMO most of the non-Koreans will still opt to forego the Super Tournament given that you get nothing if you lose in the first round, but I hope they take the risk and play for the sake of e-sports.

This is the style of tournament that it should be anyway in my opinion. Maybe keep Code S and Code A, but just do straight tournaments with best of 3 firs rounds. Keep the seeds aswell so for example MC and MVP being ranked 1 and 2 will be opposite ends of bracket etc. Anyone (at pro level) can win a 1 game match, so i never think we get to see who really is good until the round of 16 in code S.
Whoever wins this super tournament will be a good player and will be deservingly called the best in Korea.
|
Wow if at least half the foriegners on that list accept (not including HuK and jinro since they'd be there already :p) that would be amazing. I already was so excited bout the tournament but now I just don't wanna wait anymore~!!
sad thing about that list is that Mvp is so far ahead in points but he's code A atm lol. (not for long though it seems :D)

great to see that the may be more foreigners involved because of wc!!! thank god!!!!

aw, the only thing that sucks about the WC points is that Ret got bumped down.

This is the problem with GOM tourneys... players don't want to have to sit in korea most of a month for one tourney. Things like Dreamhack/IEM are like weekends that koreans can fly over and participate in easily -.-
Oh well... will be fun regardless.

Hm, not sure how I feel about the GSL WC granting 450 points just for showing up.
Of course I'm glad there will be more foreigners, but I think it's unfair that many good Koreans will be bumped out for foreigners who didn't win a single game in the GSL.

I think Ret/Ryung/Keen have a decent shot of getting in due to players above them not participating.
(inactivity, army, etc)
Not so much for viOlet/Nuts/Creator/Min unless some foreigners from GSL WC declines.
|
Wow, what a prizepool. :o I will definitely be looking forward to it.
I hope those foreigners from the World Championship participating will kick some ass! Some of the just won a bo3 against a single opponent (in the qualification) to obtain those points.

I was thinking the same. Being in Code S ro16 is way more difficult than just showing up at WC. Most of the foreigners will get crushed in ro64 anyway.

motherfucking whiteraaa!!!! and dimaga got an invite too, amazing!

GSL still the best tournament by far

June 18th finals? Uh oh. That might mean the next GSL won't end until August, which doesn't bode well for July.

i really hope some of the foreigners from the gslwc will show up there. especially dimaga impressed me and we dont get to see him much in big tournaments lately for different reasons.
only thing i can complain about is the topheavy prizemoney. would prefer a wider distribution for the sake of the participants. with that calibre of players and the current state of the game literally anyone can be knocked out in the ro32.
other than that i love how gomtv manages to bring us constant variety at the highest level of entertainment and competition.

On the other hand, Code S/Code A operates under the assumption that Code S are the best 32 players and Code A the second best. Therefore, winning Code A may be a grueling achievement, but it means you're ranked 33 of the GSL (at that exact time). Looking at it like that it puts it all in perspective and it makes sense that just ranking top 32 is enough to win you (almost) as much as winning code A!

I hope IdrA Dimaga and whitera attend this, definetly the most awesome foreigners

Gom are being very helpful to the WC foreigners, especially the likes of morrow who went to korea and didn't win a game. Compared to Keen who made the Code A semis and probably won't get in to the supertournament
|

That's the one thing that doesn't make sense, they are giving equal points to the world event tournament as Code S, so every foreigner who was in that is now higher ranked than up and coming Code A's who had to go through a lot more to get there. Doesn't seem right, players such as SlayerSRyung, MVPKeen, IMNuts, SlayerSMin etc seem more fitting / deserving. I guess they are just too new to the GSL scene to be in it even if they are showing to be better. Another example LegalMind who hasn't been very competitive as of late is locked in around 40th spot, because of past glory.

You know guys if I have the money I would make a deal with White-Ra and I would give him some money for the tourney, and he pay me back when he'll win it, serously the guy can win thw all thing.

Shouldn't IdrA have the 300 points for code S Ro32 in GSL March? He was technically in that tournament, even if he didn't play.
Also, are we sure that the world championship counts for points? And that the points are equal to the regular season?

Really nice to see that Huk got in, going to be a great tournament.

I just added some colors for your notification, and these points are "Official". I checked this image and excel 20 times to compare official records.
But if you doesn't get it, check out the 1st page and see some point ranking image. That is created by Mr.Chae who is Head of GSL Management Team and also Korean commentator.

Looks like we might have a nice amount of foreigners in this tournament. With a little luck Ret just might be able to participate!

World championship counting for points changes everything, and even though I don't really agree with that usage, it makes the playing field a lot more interesting.

So damn epic cant wait like old times

yeah, its kinda weird that the invites give so many points, but it gives a great opportunity for some of the foreigners. Up to 9 foreigners in a singe GSL, how cool would that be?

Well they gotta sort the top 64 by some means. They can't say "A guy is better than B guy so he gets more points." Either sort it by all current code A/S players, but whats the point of having a super tournament if it's exactly the same people + 2 rounds - group stage? Seems boring. So they sort it by points. Maybe it's wrong that Code A final gets less points than S32 or world championship, but GSL gains SOOOO much from having foreigners in the competition. Smart move by them, great move for us, bad move for up and coming players indeed. I think it's the best solution.
EDIT: ro64 losers don't get anything?
|
Thanks for adding 2_JiHwan's charts in the OP, very helpful.
I understand that it may be hard for foreigners to come to Korea in order to participate in this tournament, but the truth is that these live and local area tournaments are really the best format. This is my opinion as a spectator.

No they aren't.
The only European with more in winnings than Jinro is Sjow. WhiteRa isn't foo far behind, then it drops like $5k to Naama (who's mostly got his from one big lan win @ dreamhack), and $10k to MorroW.
I'm very hopeful we do see some of the foreign players going back out to play again, I really feel Dimaga at least is very deserving of it after his performance both in the team match and the individual tournament.

Oh my science... this is huge, that is so much money... It is nice to see that they are considering other tournaments and adjusting their schedule accordingly.

White-ra Dimaga gonna do great

I don't mean for staying to participate in Code S/A but the getting some points so maybe they can get an invite to the next Super Tournament equivalent.

I wish he would go compete as well, but for himself, it's probably the better idea financially. Focusing on IGN and NASL seems to be the better option. The competition is way steeper in the GSL and I see it pulling apart more soon.

Yea, but I think if he was more concerned about doing that he wouldn't have left Korea in the first place. He has a much better chance winning in the IPL and NASL than trying to get through GSL.

He should stay in the U.S, if he went back to Korea he probably wouldn't make it pass the first round.

So will the team league be on this month?
|
The GSTL will be 1 week after(its how its been for the last 2 seasons) after the GSL Code S Finals.
I think Idra made a good decision to not attend the Super, not only re-traveling back to Korea would be counter intuitive in terms of prize money but it somewhat conflicts with NASL and IPL commitment and somewhat an extent for the upcoming MLG Columbus. Yes the payout is way larger if he wins the Super, but it order to be worth it he has to win it. You only receive winnings if you make it past the Round of 32, and if Idra loses before getting into the prize pool the trip is a total waste.

That's a lot of meaningless words you throw around like that.
"he relies on race abuse"
"his risky abusive style".
Is that the result of in depth analysis of MC:s playstyle compared to other protosses that you came to that conclusion?
Please do elaborate then why other protosses don't do the risky abusive style and race abusing to win GSL championships and other tourneys.
I guess they'd rather have "respect" from community members like yourself rather than high rankings and money?

So what is required to be good then? MC has won far more than his closest rival MVP and no other Protoss in the world is even close to him in terms of tournaments won. He's the only player to win two GSL's (excluding the world championship which had a weaker player pool overall), the only Protoss player to reach a GSL final, the only player to win a major foreign tournament as well as a major Korean tournament and despite all the whine over Toss being overpowered only Huk, Ace and Naniwa have won major tournaments to my knowledge as Protoss and none of them are even close to MC's level.
He has basically defined the Protoss race in SC2. Before GSL open 3 most people considered Protoss the weakest race, then he turned up and crushed everyone, which he did again two seasons later and taught the world how to play Protoss.
I laugh so hard every time I see people call MC cheesy or lucky, quit listening to Nony (who has won exactly nothing) about Sc2 and start actually watching games, MC is a total beast who will continue to be the best Protoss in the world for the forseeable future.

If so then at least he can "abuse" better than all other protoss players. If MC knows how to abuse his race and other protoss players don't, then they suck. A player that thinks up a way to abuse is much smarter than players that don't know how to abuse and only sit there and whine while the "abuser" just keeps cashing in.
I wish I can abuse my way to 2 GSL titles, a Dreamhack and a Copenhagen title.

Still hoping for Dimaga, and of course the beast from the east. I guess I'd like to see TT1 and Morrow go too. Hell all of team world should make an appearance
|
This has the potential to be the most epic tournament since the beginning of SC2. Imagine if every qualified foreigner cleared scheduling conflicts and attended (that's Idra, Jinro, Huk, Dimaga, TT1, Whitera, Morrow, Moonglade, Sen) fighting with top Koreans (MC, MVP, Nestea, MKP, Nada, etc.), with GSL's production quality, Tastosis commentating (with the added chance of day9)... If everything adds up this will be freakin ridiculous
|
Will IdrA be competing? I'm sure just showing up will pay for his trip to korea. But he may want to focus on NASL.
|
On May 07 2011 08:34 GoKu` wrote: Will IdrA be competing? I'm sure just showing up will pay for his trip to korea. But he may want to focus on NASL. Apparently he said on his stream that he isn't going. Also, there's no prizes for 33rd-64th places, meaning that if he loses in the first round he gets nothing. And even if he makes it to Ro32, he gets only about $930 US.
On another note, not sure how they're going to handle tiebreak situations... which could very well be likely with LiveForever (military service) and the other unconfirmed foreigners not participating. Assuming only Loner and Sen are confirmed, that leaves 7 additional spaces up for grabs which extends the cut off line to #71. That's just after Keen and before Violet. In this case there's no need for a tiebreaker as Keen has 163 points and Violet has 130.
But what if one other foreigner wants to come and the cut off point is #70? Now the cut-off is between Ryung and Keen and both are on equal points, with similar performances (Code A Ro4 in the same season). It'll be interesting how they settle the tiebreakers which might arise, considering the tight schedule they have.
But either way looking forward to the tournament. Get to see names like Moon and Maka back... even though there's a highly likely chance they'll get eliminated early.

I laugh so hard every time I see people call MC cheesy or lucky, quit listening to Nony (who has won exactly nothing) about Sc2 and start actually watching games, MC is a total beast who will continue to be the best Protoss in the world for the forseeable future. Alright lets 5gate with 15 forcefields. Hes not that good. He 4 gated and 5 gated July in GSL which was a terrible finals.

If it was that easy to do everyone would do it. MC is the main reason people think toss is OP.
It's MC's execution, decision making and aggression which make him the best.
|
this is ridiculous on people saying MC is "not as good".... He's still considered one of the best players in the world. protoss looks easy b/c MC made protoss OP
|
mOOnGLaDe said on Twitter that he had to choose between this or MLG. No word on what he picked yet.
|
I think what people mean when they say "MC is not that good" Is that he is not litarally a god. He's is very very good.. but he is not unstopable. He plays risky and gets punished for it.. Even someone like poltprime could punish his risky builds (note that I'm not saying that polt is bad.. just that no one really thought he'd have a chance against MC.. but he did).

mOOnGLaDe is going to MLG

is there any information about attending foreigners? (except Jinro + HuK i guess)

If players have to chose between MLG and the super tournament why are is GOM not playing on the 3rd and 4th and have MLG in the schedule? Isn't that there so that everyone can go to MLG that weekend if they want?

That and flying to Seoul just to get knocked out in the first or second rounds might not be very profitable.

Wow bomber only just scraped in at 61, that means we could potentially have Bomber vs MC or MarineKing in the first round, and he'll certainly be playing one of the top 5

Not really, a lot of names in Asian languages sound really cool and have a lot of meaning and implication; but when they're translated to English they become silly names. So, it's English's fault, not that Koreans have silly name.

I think they skipped MLG days for spectating reasons, not player reasons....
Still gonna be great.
May Finals this week, team league next week, then right into the super tournament!

Ret, Morrow, and Sen are still there! I really hope they can make it!
|
If NesTea wins GSL he will be tied with MC for 2nd place in points, weird how similar their results have been.
I hope Sen doesn't decline, he should be done with the university at this time. and Lmfao for Sen's real name "Sen"
Sen could go far if he gets legalmind, JookTo, and Butterfly. He probably could beat August and Loner also.
|
So that leaves MorroW (and Ret, I guess, but I doubt he'd show up) as the only foreigners who haven't confirmed/denied.

I can't wait for this to start. This is going to be cool watching Code A players and how they stand up to Code S players, to be honest the state of the game right now between the skill between Code A and Code S is not really defined quite yet and I believe some Code A players, given the chance may be able to take on some of the Code S players that have no competed in the Up and Down Matches.
Btw will this tournament be charged or will it be free like the World Championships... and if so how much. cheers!

All good players take calculated risks, it's called strategy and it's why MC has won two GSL's and a player like IdrA won nothing at all between MLG and IGN, at which point he started taking risks. It really makes me laugh how many people spout that crap after hearing SOTG and think Tyler was actually right.

Maybe the next time that they have the WC they should follow it up with the super tournament directly after because the foreigners would already be in korea? But that would mean a 1-2 month stay in korea anyway so dunno how realistic that would be!
Anyway, as a fan I'm disappointed that there won't be many foreigners in the super tournament but there are so many good players in the GSL I think I'll manage somehow :p

I don't care what tyler said. Fact remains that if MC would play mega-safe and still win everything he'd be a god.. literally.. now he doesn't and looses to people like Polt which should say alot to the people thinking him beeing invincible to be honest. ![[image loading]](http://img.gomtv.net/imgdata/28634.png) brackets are out.

MKP gets another brutal first round opponent. Alicia vs MC is another painful first rounder.
Other than that its looking great!
|
Most appear a little one sided, but the ones I'd be looking forward to straight up would be:
MMA vs Lyn Inca vs Ryung Rain vs Keen Genius vs Boxer Squrtle vs MKP Alicia vs MC Huk vs san
Those are the ones I'm personally looking forward to.

there are definitely going to be a lot of great games we can learn from
this tournament will be amazing

Squirtle hasn't shown anything since like 2 or 3 gstl's ago. Seems like a 1 hit wonder but maybe I'm wrong. Mkp should take it easily.
|
alicia vs mc is definitely going to be sad. i wanted to see more games out of both of them (which we have been lacking) and see what they can do. oh well
|
Does that mean when Bomber and Nestea win their Ro64 matches they'll meet in the Ro32? I don't know if I'm happy that they'll play each other or sad that it'll be so early. =\
|
it does suck that the will be no europeans but the ones that are currently already in Korea but what do you expect starting to get to the point where why would a foreign player want to go to Korea, to try to get into a stakced pool of players in Code A earning no money?? Not to mention of the payers invited through WC, maybe they cant just keep going to korea for one off tournaments, especially not when they will miss MLG as well as other leagues such as NASL etc...

Assuming this is in order, sure. But is it in perfect order? If so, would love to actually just see a massive bracket image created so we can all do our "fantasy brackets" for GSL Super Tournament.
|
Min vs July Fruitdealer vs Ace
I am not pleased. They should have a non televised loser bracket.
|
So only and Huk and Jinro to represent the foreigners then, hoping to see Huk go far in this. Going to have some awesome matchups to look forward too
|
potentially boxer vs july in the second round!!

The problem is that going to Ro16 only nets $1780, which barely covers the plane ticket. So with only Ro8 and up being profitable to foreigners, what's the point?
The prize structure is too top-heavy. Baseball players in the minors don't make the big bucks, but at least they make a living wage. Progamers don't get anything unless they're the elite of the elite.

and you have to be top 2 in MLG to cover the cost of many europeans, so what's the point? It's that mentality that non koreans think they can't compete with the koreans. They should feel they are equally skilled... if you can make top 2 of MLG you should be able to get top 8 in super tournament. If you win the whole super tournament, it would pay off way better.

HOLY SHIT 91k USD for the winner 27,570 for the runner up wow. Biggest Sc2 prize yet. They should really spread the prize pool more.

Highly doubt top 2 in MLG is comparable to top 8 in this super tournament. Getting top 8 in this thing is going to be much much harder with people preparing rigorously before matches. Hell winning MLG will be easier than top 8 IMO. Cept maybe if your Jinro, since he's got the easiest possible group.

huk vs san. Let's see if huk's pvp has improved with the patch. If Huk wins the first round, i think he can get pretty deep.
|
Whats the toughest bracket? I would say Mcs or nesteas. I think MVP has the easier road to a final four. It would be fun to have a marchmadness type pool for this.

As sad as it is to say, if HuK beats san he'll have an even harder time the round later. Unless Polt pulls something out his ass (or winner of 1 doesnt play 2 and 3 doesnt play 4) he plays Losira in the Ro32. tbh I don't think he has a chance against Losira
HuK fighting <333

Looks pretty good for Jinro, he is definately capable of Ro8 here, meeting Nada in ro16 could get sticky though

MKP has difficult matches but nothing he can't handle, I could see him getting up to the RO4.

I wouldn't have said Genius had a chance against LoSirA but Genius managed to beat him. LoSirA is VERY strong, but not invincible. HuK can do it. Then HuK goes against sCfOu (probably) which he can win as sC's weakest match-up is TvP. Unfortunately, it ends there for HuK, as his next opponent will be oGsMC.
|
Well Genius against Losira was a strange game. Nestea said he shouldn't do the build but did it anyways. It was a bit silly by Losira to do it. Yes the heavy infestor zergling build has potential but it is really hard to pull off. If Losira plays his normal very aggressive style, Huk will have a very hard time because he very often makes micro mistakes in important games. But if Huk gets his nerves together he could win.
