Like GSL MLG NASL, they are all shoved down my throat, and i know exactly when everything is and whats going on, this tourny kinda passed with a poor coverage job. would advise it being better advertised next time.
People keep saying this and I don't get it. It was advertised on TL, Reddit, and Wellplayed pretty heavily, IdrA posted tweets about it, it was brought up on Inside the Game, etc.....

We posted this everywhere we could, we got it on twitter we got idra to tweet about it it was on reddit and got downvoted. We had it all over TL what else are we supposed to do? We tried out best to hype it up really big but people just ignored it for some reason or even downvoted it.

Regular updates to the OP would have been helpful to me, as well a proper updates to the TL big event tracker.

The tourney had such great players but i don't think it was that there wasn't enough coverage but that the tourney took such a long time that alot of the people who knew about it forgot about it and does people who never knew about it wouldn't find out because it was taking such a long time for the next games to start that not that many people would follow this and tell other people about it.
Still i think it was a great tourney except for the finals which literally pissed me the fuck off, i was trying to watch the semis and the finals and they take like 4 hours inbetween to watch some LoL games or Dota iuno wtfs and by the time for xiaot and mc to play it was like 6-7 am here... so ridiculous and the vods still aren't up and the first few games are pretty bad quality because they had to commentate of a chinese stream. Anyways i hope the replays are released of the games that you guys did manage to get in on and i hope you have the vods out also for all those people who don't want to go the stream and try and fast forward through all the Dota and LoL stuff.

why are people still saying this?

@diamond and Raelcun
a sponsored thread maybe? idk. im not saying you did a poor job or anything, just i think of my self as very into sc2, i spend all my free time doing sc2 related things, and yet i didnt even know the final had happened yet (came to this thread trying to find out when it was on, and then read the posts to find out MC had won), also i still dont know who came 3rd, i searched for about 10 minutes, and i simply cannot find out who came 3rd.
This isnt a personal attack on you guys, i mean, you must have done a good job, the thread has over 100 pages, but im just saying that i didnt know things about this tourny. I remember when the thread was first made, being excited about the player pool, but tbh, i havent seen a single game, and its not because its been on and ive chosen not to watch it, i just havent known when matches are on. IDK, im not an expert in advertising a tourny, as ive said, im just explaining my point of view as a i guess "consumer". And trying to be helpful with whatever feedback i can give.

well maybe they should update the thread... u guys haven't put the vods of the finals semi finals here so i didn't even know the vods exited for the games...
Anyways gj finally uploading them, but thats why they don't have as many views as you would think they do because u guys didn't update the thread you just come here and post shit and we had no idea that they were up already.
I think you guys shoulda tried to get a hold of the first 2 reps so it wouldn't look so bootlegged. Will you guys be releasing reps? or just vods and wait some more time for reps?

^ty,
Another example, is under broadcast schedule it still says "finals and 3rd/4th TBA"

As far as I recall Idra tweeted about it once and mentioned it on ITG once VERY briefly, well that is something this tournament was not very hyped/publicized overall, and this is coming from someone who watched most of it. Major tournaments like DH, MLG, AND GSL are regularly dissected in community posts and shows to the point where it is unavoidable for even the most casual fans to know they are going on; this tournament was not. I'm not putting any of the blame on you guys really, the tourney organizers certainly did not go out of their way to publicize it though.
|
kool because not even i know who got 3rd either lol. And when you click vods it only takes you as far as the RO8 and thats it so maybe the vods being uploaded here would help out greatly and posting the results as well.
And can't u do a tourney thread and a sponsored thread? I know when i get on TL i look through the sponsor threads to see what juicy stuff is going on. Anyways good job but i hope in the future you will try and update the info/vods in your tourney thread, not just put the replays up on the iccup youtube chan and leave us here to wonder whats going on with the vods and having to come and ask about it a bunch of times.
GJ and i hope you guys keep bringing good tourney coverage to us, but just remember to keep updating us!! some of us can't watch everything live so alot of us depend on vods/replays to see how great the games where.

Another example, is under broadcast schedule it still says "finals and 3rd/4th TBA" Yes proper OP updates would probably have helped some too, that isn't the only thing that is outdated or missing in the OP at this point.

Oh hi guys, please keep bitching about this. Next time there is a tournament no one will bother to cast and we'll all be stuck with our thumbs up are ass wondering the results. Good lord, be thankful that ICCUP did try to cover this, even if the finals were effed because you can't necessarily restream a Chinese stream.
|
the 3rd/4th match wasnt streamed by China so I don't know who won either since China didnt stream it we didnt get to stream it either. You guys fail to realize that most of the control comes from the Chinese end we did the best we could with being out of the loop.
|
Ok I get it. I will update the OP. Stop please.

They did a great job overall, I watched most of the games and enjoyed them along with the casting. Just trying to give some feedback so if they cover another event in the future more people will be able to catch it and enjoy it as well.

The problem is a lot of the feedback is unreasonable like "hype it more" hype is something that you can attempt to do and if it happens or not depends on the community. We tried to get this hyped up and the community for some reason or another just didn't embrace it. The response of telling us to buy a sponsored thread is honestly laughable I mean we're doing the offstream for these we're the secondary stream for the chinese doing english coverage. How many tournaments do you see in sponsored threads? I see like one, and that wasnt considered a huge tournament either.

I agree in principle, however hype is not some binary thing that either happens or it doesn't regardless of the effort put in. One suggestion is to ask more people if they would talk about it on their platforms in the future. The mention Idra gave it on ITG certainly helped, but that was once on one show. Talking to DJWheat (he has more shows than ITG), Day9, Incontrol or JP (sotg was still running for most of this tournament) and asking them if they would give the tourney a shout out or talk about the results so far certainly would have helped get the word out more. Apologies if you tried this and they decided not to mention it I'm just trying to give a more detailed solution than "build hype".

We reached out to Day9 and JP, we even asked them to cast part of it. They didn't hype it. You can't force these things, plus Day9 is like the hardest person on the planet to get ahold of. I asked JP to put it on SoTG and Day9 to mention it in a daily.
I even offered Day9 access to any replays from the event for his dailies, and I emailed into the SoTG questions trying to bring up the tournament.
We tried man...

I just heard about it too. Would have been fun to watch. I think it just needed more front page love from TL.
We know to look for GSL, NASL, IPL,and MLG by now that they don't need much advertisements for us to know to look for them. Using a name so closely to StarWars, it could have benefited from more bigger announcements or such to get the word out.
Maybe next time though! ; )
