Presenting the latest line of FXOpen e-Sports events, the FXOpen KOTH. This competition will see some of the best players across all three servers compete in a king of the hill style format where ladder points and $300 cash is up for grabs for players who accrue the most wins.
This event is set to take place each weekend alternating between the KR, NA and EU servers each time and featuring several players, including those which miss out on FXOpen Invitational Series participation due to other commitments. The ladder points also contribute towards eventual offline events with much larger prizepools to be announced later in the year, and strong performances in the KOTH lead to more invites to an as yet unannounced offline KOTH event separate from the previously announced LAN.
The first event will be a Korean-based event with players selected from Korea and people residing in Korea.
All 11 invited players will play in order against the winner of the previous match. After all players have played, the player standing undefeated at the end will recieve $100, and the player with the longest win-streak of the night will recieve $200. Ladder points for the event will also be awarded as below:
FXOpen Korean KOTH Friday, Apr 22 9:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)
FXOpen American KOTH Saturday, Apr 23 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)
FXOpen European KOTH Saturday, May 07 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
Maps will be selected by the challenger from the following:
Terminus RE Tal'Darim Altar Metalopolis Scrap Station Shakuras Plateau The Shattered Temple Xel'Naga Caverns Crevasse
Last man standing: $100 Highest win streak: $200
Prizes are in Australian Dollars ($AUD) which are roughly equivalent to US$
In addition to cash prizes, players who participate in our invitational series will accrue ladder points directly towards invites for future LAN events with much bigger prizepools.
FXOpen is a forex trading company seeking to get more involved in the game they are passionate about - StarCraft 2. FXOpen currently sponsors MMA, drift car series and various other sporting events.
Just to clarify, which versions of the following maps will you be using? Terminus RE (smoke in the main) vs Terminus SE (rocks into the 3rd) Tal'Darim Altar (can 3rax wall natural) vs Tal'Darim Altar LE (rocks on the 3rd) Metalopolis vs any of the modified versions, for example preventing close spawns Shakuras Plateau - newest ladder version (Shakuras Plateau 2.0), without back entrance? any modifications like preventing 2-bunker walls at the bottom of the main ramp on TST/XNC/meta?
looks like an awesome event, i never miss out on an opportunity to watch some TheStC. I like the prize structure, the bigger reward for longest streak makes it way more fair for people who go early. how will order be decided, random?
Not 100% sure yet Antoine, have to check out what versions are available/popular on the KR server and I am yet to use that server. Probably use the GSL versions where possible as the players will be familiar with them.
Random order, yes. Splitting the prize in two was quite necessary - if you put it all into the longest streak then there's no reason for the last person to want to play, and if it's all on the last man standing then the guys who go first get cheated!

But then the guy who plays last has no reason to play, because his win streak will be a maximum of 1 game.
Yes it's only 1 game, but it's a game against the guy who has potentially survived all of the other players, or at least someone who beat the guy who did.

The problem with that is that people who get drawn to go last are hard done by, as they can't have a long streak. This division of prizes seems very fair to me.
Hey guys sorry to inform you but we will be postponing this even by 1 week due to a combination of some delays for the Liquid guys getting back from Europe and some of the admins having trouble getting the KR client to work (and hence unable to host the event!). It will be sorted out next week and the OP is updated to reflect the new schedule.

Fair enough, should still be a great event. Might be a good idea to get on to a TL mod so they can update the calendar.
FXO giving out the eSports community hugs always! Firstly, supporting AUS players means a bunch to me, personally. THEN, you pump out amazing tourney after amazing tourney, THEN you release Sheth onto JTV to make us all fanboys!
And we're underway! First match is NettiePrime, perhaps better known as LotzePrime from earlier GSL seasons, taking on Liquid's own HayprO in a Bo1 on Xel'Naga. The challenger gets to pick subsequent maps out of the map pool.
For streams, check the event on the TL calendar to the right!

Yes, hard choice for me too. Trying to watch them all

This may have to do with the fact that Unstable's mic was low for some reason and he's had to boost it beyond normal volume or put it really close to his mouth as a quick-fix to the sound issue.

Especially considering he is in Australia for this event! Thought ZvZ might take him down without LAN latency not being in Korea but he's doing well on home soil! (for those wondering, he is just back here on a break and not for good)

Sick match and yeah, oGsTheSTC is still a beast.
Also, does this mean Maka already won prizemoney? Let's say TheSTC wins all the matches from now, then he will have 3 wins, like Maka. Will the 200 dollars then be split between the two?

Maka should automatically win prizemoney just for that badass strat vs Moonglade
Hey guys Choya I think has some GOM team game with fOu and is at the GOM house, we may replace him for this event and invite him back to the next event.
As for TheStC and Maka if they get the same win streak, either they will play off for it Bo1 or the money will be split 50/50.

yeah sounds great. you should let them decide if they want to split or play it out imo, not that it's me to decide ^_^ but sounds like you want to do that anyway

Yeah default is the 50/50 split but if both players agree they can play off for it. I have already asked them and the 50/50 split will be what happens ;D

well Supernova only got one chance of playing so he couldnt have won 200 even if he wanted to because he had no more opponents if there were no prize for the last man standing it would extremely unfair for the last few players on the list if it were me i wouldnt play if i cant win the prize so it is only fair for those last players left to have chance of winning something
Thank you so much to the organization for releasing the replay files. Been working on some of the matches played on this KOTH. If you missed any of the action hopefully they might be usefull for you:
