In the finals extended series are ok. The problem is applying them in earlier rounds, when both players are in winners or losers bracket and they would only play one normal Bo3 otherwise.

I'm excited for a great PvP series. and most of all it arguably is the one matchup where micro is more important than any other Yes, PvP is a much better MU for us spectators than PvT and PvZ. I do not really understand the complaints about PvP knowing how dreadful the PvT and PvZ are. Firstly, the game ends too quick for the Colos to get out which leads to much more fun games to spectate, and secondly there are a lot of micro. The games are intense, and seldomly it ends up with ball vs ball, aka the esports killer. Sure, it is not amazing to watch at all, but still it is not PvT.

I really would like to see more of the fan favorites like incontrol, ret, tyler, huk, idra, more of kiwikaki, etc, and I cant via replays because I dont have access to the MLG map pool =( Yeah if the replays are released publicly i don't see why not?

at this point I think question is more "Can KiwiKaki take a game off Naniwa" let alone win the series.

a bo7 actually A player who is 24-0 should have an advantage over someone who has come from losers, sorry.
Or get rid of this losers bracket extended series shit

If Naniwa goes 26-0 it would be the sickest thing ever

You know that if kiwi had won 2-0 over nani, but for some reason nani would have come through WB and kiwi LB. Kiwi would have had the lead 2-0 even tho he came from LB. Does that seem fair ?

Well Nani hasn't lost a series and Kiwi has. So even w/o extended series Kiwi would have to win 2 Bo3's

He earned the 2-0 and then ADVANCED. That's the reward. Why stop the award at games? Why not start him off with extra minerals and extra units? That's right because it's series is meant to be it's OWN thing and not some part of a bigger picture. MLG's format is already garbage, extended series just adds to it a bit more.
It should be like at BlizzCon. Just make it 2 times a Bo5. (Blizzcon is 2 times Bo3 but who can get enough of SCII?)

They are TWO different series; under DIFFERENT circumstances.. The PENALTY for losing against an opponent is going into the LOSERS bracket where you have struggle your way through; but then you come up against the guy again and instead of "well done you battled through so much shit in the losers bracket - good on you" it's "well done - now beat him 4 times before he beats you twice!" It pretty much serves as a double penalty..
How about the winner? He has not lost a single game so far. He can't possibly be eliminated by losing 2 games out of 3, this would be totally unfair compared to everybody ese in the tournament.

Protoss can warp in 10 units at the same time indeed but those units suck vs a big group of terran units. Instead Select runs in, suicides his army + all his VIKINGS. He could have just gone back and come 2 mins later with a HUGE army and be up vs 3 colossi at most.
cool I don't get your reasoning. Collosus are a powerful unit but they take a long time to build. Select should have retreated and attacked to give the protoss time to rebuild those collosus. ...? In case you forgot, collosus rape a big group of bio units. Not pointing out imbalance, just saying your reasoning is terrible
Let me explain, Ofc colossi roll over grouped up bio balls. But 3 colossi vs 10 vikings are no problem at all (+emps) Instead select lost like all his vikings and had no chance to ever come back anymore after that point

agreed. it's the nature of WB/LB

I don't know why people find extended series so difficult to understand.
If you think that tournament results reflect some skill level of each player, and you also think that there is some random variation added to each tournament result, then extended series simply reduce the degree to which tournament results reflect random variation and increase the degree to which they reflect skill. It's simple mathematical fact that can be proven (and has been demonstrated, on this site!) by monte carlo simulations.
Extended series are a much less potent way to reduce random variation than, say, increasing the number of games in a series (from a BO3 to a BO5 to a BO7), but, in effect, they do the same thing.

Indeed, if it wasnt extended series, it would be normal grand finals where if kiwi did win the first bo3, he would have to win another..
