Tbh not a huge a fan of this format, but maybe next MLG will be better. + Show Spoiler + You mean who can stop KiWiKaKi? This. Not impressed by Naniwa at all, he's just showing what people who've watched him in European tournaments already know. He is good at 4gating. Kiwikaki's games have been impressive though and I'm glad he's performing well, one of the best foreign Protoss!
I think Kiwikaki's games have been more entertaining, and thats he's played against better players overall.
I hope Kiwi beats Naniwa 2-1

Bolded what's important in PvP If you can simply crush the noobs in less then 15min each game the open bracket isn't so bad..

I hope we get to see some awesome games today.

Also another prediction: InControl cries after not winning a single map.

On the last State of the game incontrol mentioned that idras biggest flaw is that he often surrenders beforehand and doesn't even try to win when he thinks its impossible..
he was right i guess?

My predictions for today - I've got SeleCT winning against Naniwa in the final. It depends on exactly who goes where from the Winners' Bracket, but either way I think my final was SeleCT v Naniwa.
|
By the way, I don't know if this is listed anywhere, but the people who you're BARELY not seeing today (eliminated in ro24.. or ro28... can't remember which):
KingSpades DDE OptikZero ... one other player I'm blanking on... c'mon memorryyy

welcome back! :D

Naniwa doesnt really impress me. His play just seems to be either 4 gate or build up some sort of deathball vZ and attack. I dont see anything that makes him stand out at all. Just your average decent protoss.
KiWiKaKi gonna beat him for sure.

It's not that confusing... kind of. I stopped trying to figure out exactly where people landed in the bracket a long time ago. Just keep these things in mind:
1) The seeding from the group stage determines how deep they are placed in the championship bracket and each position higher is an additional game they need to play to get to the finals. 2) All 16 players from the seed bracket and guaranteed to move on to the championship bracket. 3) Only 4 people from the entire open bracket move on to the championship bracket. 4) At worst, from the loser's bracket, you'll have to play 10 sets to win the entire thing. 5) At best, from the winner's bracket, you'll have to play 3 sets to win the entire thing.
I didn't spend too much time going over the explanation topic (I didn't want a headache), but I'm realizing something now... only 4 form the open bracket make it out of... 200??? Ouch. And what does this mean for Columbus? It seems like this favors the existing seeded players from this tournament to remain in the next tournament more than the GSL does...!
Tell me if I'm wrong because I'm realizing something now:
-If you think about it, only 4 of the original 16 seeded players are in danger of being replaced for Columbus. -This means that the 1st round of the loser's bracket is extremely important when looking forward to Columbus. This round will effective act like the "Up & Down Matches" of the GSL. The losers of this 1st round will lose their "Code S" status and have to fight their way back through the open bracket in Columbus. -MLG really wants to keep the winners winning, more so than the GSL. -In the GSL, 16 of the 32 Code S players are moved to the Up & Down Matches. -In MLG's format, potentially only 4 of the 16 "Code S" players are move to the "UP & Down Matches." And that's only if they're last in their groups, for the championship bracket.
Correct?
edit: I take it back. It is confusing after all...!

I definitely think Select and Naniwa are the scariest looking players today. Dignitas should be proud and give them both raises!

Day9, if the stream lags, you better be ready with some stories

If the stream and the lag fails again i'm going to cry.
Things to watch today:
Is Naniwa going to win every single game 2-0 again? Kiwikaki it's on fire too If HuK wins every match he will face IdrA again. Sheth is doing really nice on the tournament, hope he gets casted
