Game 2 is missing from their site (this is the one that Huk did the hallucinations, you need to find it somewhere...epic). Replays end when one player leaves.
It's called a rage quit.

Thanks for drawing it up. The only caveat I notice is that the MLG bracket has KiWiKaKi vs NaNiwa as the upper half of the Winner's bracket, so I assume that the loser of that match will go to IdrA branch of the lower bracket.
Naniwa is gonna take it all against Select!

I went to bed early thinking that i could just catch the rebroadcast, but there doesn't seem to be one? What is going on? Is there gonna be a rebroadcast? FML if not

There's no rebroadcast. Today basically didn't happen due to technical difficulties, MLG is pulling an all-nighter switching out the bad equipments.

But when that happens, don't you get the "xxxx left the game" annoucment ? There was no such thing there...game just froze in middle of a fight and that was it.

IdrA didn't GG he just left the game. That's how replays work they just stop once someone leaves the game.

The format is designed to protect previously established players. If you come in as top 16 seed you can win the whole tournament by playing only 7 series and winning 6 of them. Meanwhile losing in the first round of the open bracket puts you on a path of winning 21 series undefeated before you can claim victory.
It's disappointing because it is so hard to see new talent rise up and challenge established players (which is why I love the GSTL). It's also stupidly difficult to get knocked out of the top 16 once you are in it. You just need to win 1 game out of the 5 you will play all weekend.

Thanks didn't know. Burrowed and clawed roaches vs an opponent with no detection (unless I missed something) and mostly sentries....I wonder why he left so early...

Yeah you saved yourself a lot of frustration.

IdrA was fully tilted at that point and emotions probably affected him in game 3. Beyond fully tilted. He went InControl/qxc and hit the table after that set against Huk. Rage is an understatement.

Not particularly. The system is designed so the worst a Group play player can do is 24th place, which means a maximum of 8 players can drop from top 16 group play in every MLG. Compare this to GSL, where every season only 8 of the 32 Code S spots are up for grabs.

I went to bed after the third game, the one after the grubby game. How many matches did i miss after that?

Considering Liquid placed 5 members in the top 24, I'm not sure if calling this MLG a disaster for Liquid is justified or not. But from Ret. Tyler and TLP perspective, it must seem disappointing for them.

What if HuK and Naniwa meet in the first round? I don't think it favors the loser regardless of how good you are.
I agree with you that if someone completely dominates the field they would always come out of the open bracket. But, I don't know if we see that kind of domination from any player.

Ret, Tyler and TLO had their places in the top 24 secured just by showing up to the event
