I thikn it was briefly mentioned in the L/R thread during that MLG, its not that big of a deal. The rules are fairly outdated and theres a vast array of them which dont really make sense to apply. theres one where a player can limit the unit composition of the other player by not letting them make a unit. Source? I'd like to read that one about unit comp. Show nested quote +12. Starcraft 2 Players who receive three Technical Fouls in one Match will be given a one Game penalty. After three Technical Fouls, each subsequent Technical Foul in the Match will result in another one Game penalty. When a Starcraft 2 Player receives a one Game penalty their opponent will be allowed to select one unit, other than Probe, Drone, SCV, Overlord, or Queen, that the Player with the one Game penalty won’t be allowed to create during the upcoming Game. If the Player with the one Game penalty were to create that unit during the upcoming Game, they would Forfeit the Game. (from Official Rules) It's a hilariously awesome rule.
You could totally pick larva o_o.

The Idra interview clip is the best way to represent the event in one video. I feel sorry for the players, this should be about them: About Incontrol, naniwa, huk, LZ, Idra... all of them are having great runs, completly overshadowed by this terrible event.
Sure we need lan, but this was scheduled a long time ago, knowing you would need a good internet connection, last MLG was a sign already, TSL had 60k viewers... why would you not prepare accordingly?
Took me a while to type this with one hand, but hopefully they hire some new people for the next event, else no one is gonna bother with it anymore. Why would players take 5-15 hours flights for this? The prize pool alone won't keep the viewers interested, and that's your fuel. Are you waiting for your sponsors to call you out? This is your turn Geoff, squash 'em like bugs!

Regardless its about following their own rules. Rewrite them then if you aren't going to follow the current set. Why have the rule if you don't follow it? If you speed on the highway your breaking a law but most people do it without caring. What about people who rob banks? They are breaking a law as well but most of the time people care about that one.
Shows that you should enforce rules equally.
I know thats comparing irl to a game but the principle is the same. Set the rules..follow the rules.. enforce the rules.

Does anyone have a mirror for Game 2 between Idra and Huk on Metalopolis? The link on the MLG brackets is missing probably due to too many people requesting it.

If I had to play 11 Bo3 in a row I would go with a build order that's quick like that as well. And I'm not sure about the caliber of play in his earlier matches, but pulling off 4 gates (especially PvP) requires some intense micro skills and allows him to hide any other BO's he has. I'm sure he knows how to do more than 4 gate.
Not to mention just winning that many games in a row with 4 gate is extremely impressive. It's not like 4 gate is unstoppable, especially if you know it's coming. Props to him for being good enough with his micro to pull it off 22x in a row.

FiOS offers 35/35 (mbps). The interesting part is that Dallas underwent a technological update at least 6 years ago that spans the entire metroplex. While it still doesn't cover all of Dallas, most of the areas that are left out are low income and industrial areas. Really, it is the fault of the specific venue for not having the ability to provide a robust and stable enough connection for tournament as a whole. When compared to some of the 1k BYOCs I've been to in the area (with dozens if not hundreds of non-LAN games going), it's fairly pathetic that the Dallas Convention Center can't muscle up a mere 20-30 mbps stable connection.
As for the SC2 stations, EVERYBODY was experiencing lag. Losers bracket round 2-5 and the last few winners brackets were delayed for hours due to lag issues.

How many times do we have to cite Extended Series for this argument to not work? MLG stood by its retarded rule of extended series and would not budge an inch, yet they fail in every other category.

TSL_Rain's success and reputation were made from his cheesy all-ins; he's done nothing since then worthy of recognition. Although he was known early on for pushing all-in builds like 4gate, Naniwa has demonstrated that he doesn't need them to win. Go watch his matches against Ret in the TSL.
Do you think it is intelligent to play +20 consecutive games and aim for a drawn-out macro style in all of them, knowing that you have abusive strategies to use against lesser players? As a competitor there, you would also know that the players you are hoping to face have played significantly less games with smaller stakes. Additionally, you would not want to reveal any new strategies/BOs you have working on by using them in earlier matches.
So personally I think his play was fine. He got through the rounds quickly and he can prepare for the games when he will have to rely on his macro. And if his opponents can't beat his 4gates, that's sad from a spectator POV but ultimately irrelevant. These guys are pros, they should know how to hold off such attacks.

To be honest, it's not very difficult to ensure you have the right infrastructure, load balancing, appropriate routers, switches, cabling, test machines, backup plans, ISP contacts, multiple WAN ports, quality of service... the problem is MLG never cared at all to fix any of their problems over the years, as this has gone on forever. They never cared to test environments, or evaluate their network and software. They just wanted to turn the switch on and getting the revenue flowing.
