Players may not chat in-game unless they are engaging in pre-game sportsmanship or surrendering the Game. 6. Breaking any of Gameplay Rules #2-5 will result in a Forfeit of the Game. Technically HuK forfeited the game by taunting IdrA. You might argue that IdrA responded, but the game was already forfeited when he did. I wonder if this will come up tomorrow.
Unlikely, as they've never followed that rule before, or several other of their rules, or (for example) Huk would have lost the mothership game before he even typed the word mothership; anyone that ever commented about lag outside of asking for a pause would lose the game; they'd be handing out warnings like candy for pausing without checking with a ref; large numbers of non-broadcast games would be thrown out for having the wrong team colors (Rule: The higher seeded Player must play as the Red team and the lower seeded Player must play as the Blue team; violation - observe Naama vs MooNan and it's ignored in other games I've looked at in the past); Machine would have received technical fouls for eating gum after beating Tyler (No excessive taunting or celebration by Coaches or Players. Excessive taunting or celebration includes, but is not limited to, post-Match taunting or celebration directed at or referencing an opposing Player(s) and/or Coach.) and I'm sure others.
It's a stupid rule and one they've ignored in the past.

i love how people are acting like this is suppose to be like a samurai battle or something....its a video game settle down rivalry is good for the games expansion

Blizzard isn't the only one that can implement LAN play; unfortunately, LAN play wouldn't be usable in an American tournament because of lawyers, but I know there are people around for whom implementing LAN would be pretty easy.

can all you guys bickering about rules take it somewhere else? I know this is the MLG thread, but 99% of us don't care and you're just bringing us all down.

Truth.
What a day, y'all.

Wait. This isn't a Samurai Battle? WTF!

Mentioning the hallucinated units was certainly BM by HuK, but calling for him to be disqualified as incredibly disproportionate.

I just don't want this to be the beginning of nerds calling each other names all game long with in-game chat instead of playing the game.
(Or do I?)

Yeah, you can say a lot about IdrA, but the man keeps his honour and pride. Doesn't seem like the kind of person who would ever accept a win because of stuff like this. I thikn it was briefly mentioned in the L/R thread during that MLG, its not that big of a deal. The rules are fairly outdated and theres a vast array of them which dont really make sense to apply. theres one where a player can limit the unit composition of the other player by not letting them make a unit. Source? I'd like to read that one about unit comp.
12. Starcraft 2 Players who receive three Technical Fouls in one Match will be given a one Game penalty. After three Technical Fouls, each subsequent Technical Foul in the Match will result in another one Game penalty. When a Starcraft 2 Player receives a one Game penalty their opponent will be allowed to select one unit, other than Probe, Drone, SCV, Overlord, or Queen, that the Player with the one Game penalty won’t be allowed to create during the upcoming Game. If the Player with the one Game penalty were to create that unit during the upcoming Game, they would Forfeit the Game. (from Official Rules)
It's a hilariously awesome rule.

so many sixjax and fxo in lower bracket.

Anyone know for the winner semifinals, which pool players play who?
Like Pool A #1 vs Pool B #1 or Pool A #1 vs Pool C #1??
KiWiKaKi, SeleCT, iNcontroL, and Naniwa are the top four right now as they won their groups, so the winners semifinals will involve those four players...

to put it bluntly those people wouldnt make it that far and it they did it would only add dram and interest/intrigue to the tournament/scene

My rant, I feel like I should post but also allow people to skip it: + Show Spoiler +I don't know how this was possible, but this MLG got me at least 20 times more frustrated/angry then the Flash and Jaedong blackout episode.
I got home friday after my surgery and was expecting the games to help me recover. Better thank day9 and wheat, they were amazing as usual. The whole thing was just wrong, amateurs make much better decisions during tournaments EVERY FREAKING DAY.
The Idra interview clip is the best way to represent the event in one video. I feel sorry for the players, this should be about them: About Incontrol, naniwa, huk, LZ, Idra... all of them are having great runs, completly overshadowed by this terrible event.
Sure we need lan, but this was scheduled a long time ago, knowing you would need a good internet connection, last MLG was a sign already, TSL had 60k viewers... why would you not prepare accordingly?
Took me a while to type this with one hand, but hopefully they hire some new people for the next event, else no one is gonna bother with it anymore. Why would players take 5-15 hours flights for this? The prize pool alone won't keep the viewers interested, and that's your fuel. Are you waiting for your sponsors to call you out?
This is your turn Geoff, squash 'em like bugs!

MLG did a great job today dealing with the issues that were largely out of their control

ban marines or stalkers would surely lead to hilarius games. On a side note i really think idra had that battle lost anyway.

MLG! Why do you CHANGE YOUR BRACKETS!
SeleCT vs iNcontroL Kiwi vs Nani
Earlier they had A vs B, C vs D.

Hrm..I went to sleep after getting fed up when the stream went down about 6 hours ago. Did I miss anything good? Or were there still stream problems? I read some pages in between so I got the drama between idra vs huk. Just mainly wondering if they went ahead and streamed a lot more or just a few replays cause theres no replay of todays stream playing.

I think as long as the MLG administration is busy with the technical issues associated with the tournament, rules like those are going to be given more leeway in order to make less work for the coordinators. Once MLG gets everything in order and they have people to spare, I would not be surprised if they really crack down on the formality of the tournament. I think another thing is also just funding. They might not be able to enforce a rule reliably because they cannot provide the type of environment that would allow it. For example, overhearing outside sources during a game about the strategy of your opponent.
