The graveyard was established in 1857, but burials occurred in that area long before that date. ... There is also a high probability this graveyard is haunted - poltergeist style. As the city of Dallas grew around the cemetery, bones were disturbed. Apparently in 1907, the Santa Fe railroad excavated the western edge of the cemetery and an account in The Dallas Morning News reported workers "hauled away dirt strewn with bones by the wagon load."
