The event was great! Thanks to everyone who came! I will update the OP here for results and thank you messages!

5/11: Update here are some pictures from the event if you have not seen them! http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150151529190658.287821.52926580657

sorry it took so long... TCO 2 is in the works and will be coming mid/end of June.

I want to send thanks again to everyone who came and helped with the event, Including...

Andy!!! you saved our LAN!

I want to thank the gentleman from St. Cloud who's name is escaping me right now. (shoot me an e-mail if you see this I would love to set up a St. Cloud event with you!)

Thanks to Prolix! He is the man! Donating 50$ so we could have a raffle for prizes and the end!

The two coordinators from Teh Pwn gaming club from the U for coming and checking out our event and supporting e-sports!

The gentleman from "spawnroom.com" he came to help cover our local event and support e-sports!

LAN WORLD GAMING!!!

Mike, Alan, Joe, and Ted (and everyone that showed up to our first meeting at the tea garden!)

...and Moua aka Nush who stayed in touch with me from our first meeting making sure this event would get off the ground. He brought a wealth of LAN experience and a love for gaming that helped this event get off the ground!

I will have pictures up soon along with the winners and prizes!

Until then shoot me a PM if you want to be involved in our next event(s)!

Have a good one!!!

Miles aka RTS

EDIT:

Finals will begin shortly! Both the Maters/Diamond bracket and the Bronze-Plat braket finals will be coming up shortly!

watch them on the link below!!!

http://www.own3d.tv/live/3836/Siraz_TV

MATCHES HAVE RESUMED... We have resolved our connectivity/power issues. Live streaming matches will follow later possibly after the lunch break at 4:30-5:30 (CST)

Thank you for your patience!

RTS

Since the event has been taken down from the on-air stream I figured I'd post a quick post describing whats happening right now.

Whats happening

We've got serious connectivity issues. We've contacted battlenet and apparently the issues are coming from our end. We are in the process of contacting the ISP.

In the meantime we are trying to ration our log ins in order to get as many people playing as possible but something like 80% of our players can't log in and we would prefer to let people play the games on their own personal computers.

The possibility of streaming these games right now is fairly low due to the connectivity. We're going to try to cast replays at some point in the future.

Looking around, right now we have something like 40-50 people watching TSL and chatting about how awesome Tyler and/or thorzain are.

I'll post an update once we resolve our connectivity.

OP

I would like to welcome all gamers to come to the first event hosted by our group. Hopefully the first of many:

Twin Cites Open Starcraft 2 1v1 Tournament
12pm-12am (CST)
Saturday April 9th @ Lan World Gaming

2645 White Bear Ave N # 3
Saint Paul, MN 55109-1317
lanworldgaming.com
Google Map

*You will need to sign up by 12pm on location the day of the event. Registration is 10$*

We will be having over 150$ in prizes with possible additional prizes and a raffle at the end. (the more people that come the larger prize pool we can get!)
Also we will be having free pizza too so it will be a great day for starcraft, friends, food, and fun.

Routinetrafficstop, Siraz, and MikeyR will be casting and we will also give a few up start casters a chance to call a few matches (after all we will have 10+ hours of live casting)
We will be streaming the tournament live on SirazTV
We will be casting from the start (near noon) to the end of the day (near midnight)

We encourage participants to bring their own computers, however we will rent 2 computers on location for some players that had mentioned they were flying in, or driving long distances can use them. We can rent additional computers on location for the whole day for 20$ so if you don't want to bring your computer you can rent one for the day with 8 being the total available. You also can bring your own peripherals too for the rented computers. PM me if you have any questions.

The map pool will include some of the old some of the new and a few GSL maps: Xel'Naga Caverns, Shakuras Plateau, Metalopolis, The Shattered Temple, Backwater Gulch, Typhon Peaks, Terminous RE, Crevasse, and Tal'Darim Altar.

The player has the choice to exclude 2 maps to from the pool for their duration of the tournament.

Format will be group stage round robin for the first round (top two players advance to winners bracket bottom two head to the consolation bracket) This will ensure everyone gets to play at least 3 games in the tournament.

From then on in the winners bracket its double elimination (if you loose you drop to the losers bracket)
The consolation bracket single elimination.

Every round will be best of 3 until the grand final which will be best of 5

There is plenty of seating on location we can accommodate many people and we will be using the projector on site to display the featured matches so if you have some down time you can gather round and check out the cast!

Hope to see many of you there, or we hope that you tune in and check out many of the great players in the Twin Cities area!
Thank you!

Routinetrafficstop

PM me with any questions you may have or if you would like a copy of the official flyer to hand out at your college/school or place of work.

**NOTE to answer some good questions that have been asked:

In addition to your cpu, bring a monitor, your keyboard/mouse, and if possible a ethernet cable... we will have a few extra ethernet cables if you do not have one (but only 5 or so). Also you can use one of LWG's computers for 20$ I'm trying to negotiate that down to 15 for our players that have to travel a long distance. (LWG's computers are very nice flat screen monitors, headsets, microsoft keyboard/optical mouse, and he has 4 licenses for sc2 that can be used in case for some reason you dont have your own account XD )

Also cash is the preferred method of payment for registration, and as long as you are at the location by noon that is fine we can get you registered soon after. You can come as early as 11am if you wish to get set up early, help us set up, or meet the casters/relax and play a few warm up games if possible.**

*Another Note*

I'm suggesting a 5$ donation for non-participants however its a free will donation (donate a dollar or 2 if you can but its not required to come and watch the events) this is for pizza and drinks that I am paying out of pocket for the group so if we have too many people/spectators I wont be able to afford pizza/drinks for everyone because i'm paying out of my pocket.

I would rather have more people without being able to afford pizza for everyone THAN less people come and pizza for everybody if you catch my drift lol

*Yet another note*

If anyone has a prize/cash they want to donate to the prize pool let me know. Someone had mentioned that they work for best buy and they may give a gift card. If anyone can get prizes like this for a raffle at the end we will give the donating party shout outs on the live stream for their support of e-sports!

Is this open to anybody, even us lowly bronze leaguers. Are they going to posting this on Lan World's web site as well. I don't see it posted there yet. How many people are you expecting and how much room is there going to be?

Thanks

The tournement is open to everyone. I know we were talking about two brackets, one for < diamond and one for diamond +, but I think we decided ultimately to just do group play. Everyone should get to play a couple matches in the tournament, there isn't single elimination at the lower levels.

And theres free pizza! :D

Probably something like noon till late at night, two am or so. I think those are the times we were talking about. If you want to compete I think you'll want to be there earlier rather than later, but if you just want to stop by and play some CS or games with people already eliminated, you should stop by!

The flyer should be posted on lan worlds website soon i emailed him our flyer last night

Also I can pick up a few people in the twin cities area... as long as you don't mind coming early to help me set up a few things (11am)

(Shoot me a PM if you live in the northern suburbs or close to Minneapolis/St. Paul and need a ride... I'll be able to pick up a max of 4 people to bring to the event and we will have to make it to the event by 11am so I can set up - I will accept donations for gas money however its not required for me to pick you up XD)

Good news! We have been approved to be put on the events calendar! Hopefully we can get a few spill over viewers from events after they wrap up and our event begins to heat up!

Exciting stuff

Also if anyone has any contacts with CSL groups and college gaming groups in the area i.e. Duluth, St. Cloud, Mankato, St. Thomas, etc feel free to invite them to the event!

Hope to see many of you there!

A question for people... does anyone have a hearing protectors for guns/yard work... so the featured match players can wear earbuds and the hearing protection so they dont hear the casters? We only need 2 pairs... let me know if you can lend them for the tournament for the day!

Thanks!

I'm interested in casting the replays, where could I get those when the tournament starts?

yeah I sent an invite to the 2 U of M gaming groups... also st cloud, duluth, and mankato. I hope to see a few of teh pwn gaming club peeps there! Fingers crossed we get 60 people and we will be able to give out a small prize for the top finishing bronze-gold people too (if there are any participating which i believe their may be a couple)

NerdCRAFT i'll be sure to save the replays and create a replay pack for those who wish to view it who couldn't make it to the event or those who want to see the games that we covered in the event, maybe add a few others that people save after they play them (meaning replays beyond the featured games we cast)

if you come to the event there may be a chance for you to cast a game or too as well (if you live in the area)

I'm sure getting pumped for the event!

A little side note... i think that TL's calendar is on Korean time? So our event is listed on Sunday for the stream purpose etc... HOWEVER THE EVENT IS ON SATURDAY APRIL 9TH at 12:00 (CST) please don't confuse the actual time with the time it is listed on the calendar...

Have a good one guys!

Me and my friend are pretty low level in the game and doubt we would enter the tournament, but we would love to come and watch some matches and stay for a while to get the feel of a lan event (this would be our first). We were wondering if it would be ok with you if we did not sign up for the tournament and just stayed and watched or maybe tried casting or something.
