Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |

Seeing that the goal is to attract as many people as possible, inviting Grubby was just logical. It's a completely different story for nonames like ViBE though. Just because you don't know much about someone doesn't mean they're a no name... Are you implying ViBE has a following that would justify his invitation into NASL? I highly question this. I'm not denying people already heard of him, but what matters is the ability to excite people. Seeing Grubby play will excite approximately 2000 times as many people as seeing ViBE play. No, that's not an exaggeration, but an actual number.
I'm implying that just because someone doesn't have a stream that has thousands of people watch doesn't mean that they aren't skilled enough to be in the league. Both the players from nrg have proven to be good enough in the various clan leagues they've played in. So like I said, just because YOU haven't heard of them doesn't mean they're a no name.

I think what people are not realizing is simply how many games are going to be played here. Lets go into super theoretical land. Lets suppose 10 out of 50 invites are john nobody. There are still 8 good players in each division and in groups they will play six other pros. That will still be 28 good matches per division, 140 total good matches. That is more matches than you will get anywhere else, and that only counts divisional play.
Now, I don't agree that any of the listed players are no namers. I have seen every player on the current list play (except Artosis Protoss, but we all know Artosis). Furthermore, there are 225 divisional matches, 15 blue championship qualifiers, and open tournament, and a 16 player championship. If you chose just to follow 5-10 players that you thought were deserving, or you just watched "feature matches" there is more content available than you can shake a stick at.
Haters are still gonna hate, but before you do look at the scope and magnitude of what they are trying to do and the actual content that will be provided. And if you are still gonna hate, remember that the 14 underperformers are out and they will be replaced by qualifiers for season 2+ (I think I remember correctly).
Personally I like the picks so far. I'm a big fan of Grubby and iNcontroL, don't be hating on them!

I think the general consensus is that everyone in this thread supports the NASL but does not support the decisions of their players. As seen before the NASL is very open to the community and their opinions, so while a lot of people are being extremely harsh (and a lot of just straight up stupid) with their judgment of the leagues picks, they really only mean that they would like to see the best and most deserving players in the league. For one, I will wait until the last 10 are released before criticizing the NASL's choices.
What I'm trying to get at is that I doubt anyone in this thread (despite empty threats) wont be actively watching the NASL but also knows how important a tournament of 400k is to future sponsors and the growth of E-Sports.

Wow this player list is EPIC! I'm guessing the last 10 will be Korean invites? Really looking forward to seeing season 1 kick off. GOGO NASL!

Ok.
So all he is involved in this leauge is about his casting?
Him living in the same house as russ(main nasl guy), and being in the inner core wich basically made the nasl come true have absolutly nothing to do with him getting in, also he is getting no financial gain whatsoever from the event except his casting salary right?
Because id really love to hear why the hell he was selected as he has absolutly 0 results in sc2.
And no i am not an incontrol hater im a really big fan of him.
But ill reserve my judgment until tuesday when i see the formula for selecting players.

Why are there no top Korean players? This league is a joke, its rigged to allow all the bads like incontrol a chance to get their grubby fingers on prize money. Viewers want to see epic, high level games... not this farce.

Clearly the next two days will be stacked and probably include Boxer, Nada, and/or MC, so most of you guys need to chill until the full fifty are announced.
That being said, I don't want to add fuel, but I'm very interested in the addition of stalife and vibe, and even dde to a degree. The only reason I feel they would be included is not because of NA representation but probably for more even team/clan representation.

People get up in arms about the voting process, saying they don't want the league to be a popularity contest and that they want good games to come from it, this leads the league to respond saying that the player selection process will be "On Results and a bunch of mystery voodoo stuff while the voting plays a small part" People get up in arms about the voting process, saying they don't want the league to be a popularity contest and that they want good games to come from it, this leads the league to respond saying that the player selection process will be "On Results and a bunch of mystery voodoo stuff while the voting plays a small part"
The selection process was always results and popularity. We're pretty confident that we've never deviated from that stance, nor has anyone said anything contrary to that.

It's obvious the GSL players weren't invited because they'd probably not be able to make the finals. Given this, what players should be in here that aren't already? I'm genuinely curious because there's a lot of bitching but people don't seem to be coming up with any names other than the top Code S koreans who were obviously left out for a pretty good reason.

They applied. What right do the NASL people to have to call them liars who won't show up?

Im pumped. These names are all great. I dont know how Im going to be able to watch all this starcraft though! sooooo much. Cant wait to see the last 10 names. I cant think of many other players that aren't korean that havent been invited yet

Thank you I even went back and double checked the NASL Q/A thread you did to make sure about the popularity portion of your statement and you've always rung that bell, so the Artosis/Grubby picks make a bit more sense but I still don't agree with them. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Figured I would write a list of my personally opinion on the players currenly not invited, just to see an overview. I have somewhat limited experience in the starcraft scene but I guess I watch a reasonable amount of starcraft, but I am in no way claiming to be an expert, this is just my personally opinion\how I see things from what I have seen/remember of players and am in no way trying to offend\talk bad about any of the players.
I'll put them in 3 categories, people who most definitely should be invited and probably will be, People who could be invited over players such as Vibe\Moman (which honestly now looking through the brackets are the 2 people I don't really see any merit too inviting, i guess moman had a cool application video.) And 3 the randoms who I have not heard of\ have heard very little of\ probably do not deserve to be in NASL.
Top players! 10 (Lol I did not even plan that out at all, it just happened.) + Show Spoiler + Fruitdealer Demuslim MC Ret Rainbow July Nada Boxer( Could be Mid range in terms of pure skills i guess but he is by far the biggest name in starcraft, and is also semi confirmed by xeris to be in the league anyway.) Dimaga Morrow
Mid range(26~ish?) + Show Spoiler + Merz Top Trickster Antimage Firezerg Thisisjimmy Strifecro Attero LaLush Inka FXOMoonan Painuser LGShew Mondragon(Again though, apart from his TSL showing which was strong, he does not have very much to show for, so he will probably have to sit out for NASL round 1). Ensnare Zenio Inca NightEnd Thorzain(Thorzain could argueably be Top tier after his super strong showing against nestea in the TSL, but keep in mind these decisions were made before that was played\streamed as far as i know so taking that into consideration really isnt fair. Root destiny(Probably deserves to be low range in terms of skill but is one of the most popular streamers+ had an awesome application video and is overall awesome so would much rather see him than some of the lower tier players that have been invited to NASL.) Root minigun(see alot of players supporting this guy, but I personally have not seen that much play of him that has impressed me\ as far as I can tell he has not accomplished that much to Truly deserve a spot in NASL, not saying he does not deserve one, but not like it would be a travesty to have NASL without minigun.) Virus Min Bomber Squirtle Lyn Skew (To be honest have not heard that much of him\might be mixing up his name with shew
Low range (43ish?) + Show Spoiler + MasterAsia LzGamer(As far as I know atleast he was reasonably strong in the beta\after early release but has not become better as much as alot of the other players have so is weaker now, although this might very well just be me not paying attention to his results.) Soccer Ddoro Sase Xlord TheWind Cezzane REQDarkcell Nrg Mihai Nrg gostrjiy Cocoa Cella (really no idea how he is as a player as of late, i know he coaches for slayers so probably not as strong as some of the other slayers players.) Frozen (had to put some korean here =p) Imyt Sky(his name really sounds familiar but then again it is a really common word so this might just be me being ignorant =p) tGensulitor Avilo Telecom Cedstick Sterling vVvRigid vVv Murder vVvNGry vVvTime VtPerfect Whiplash( have heard of him but not really much as of late.) Could probably belong into Mid tier) VtSpades (have definetly heard of this guy but alot more of as a manager than as a palyer.) VTgIX VTpokebunny VTfuture tQArchaic DreamAlexCmoi Dreammass Dreamiegosu Bischu Onekyhol Onepgbubbles oneblur onenamchir onezerker onelinko
Phew, I realize there are probably ALOT of players from the "mid" tier and "bottom" tier that could change places, that is not really what this is post is about, the point is more so that assuming NASL does not do something horrible with the last 10 invites, we are not losing out on any huge calibre players, Thorzain and mondragon have shown some great games in TSL but the invites for nasl were before that, and looking at their play before this tournament one would be hard pressed to say the 100% definetly deserve a spot in NASL (though thorzain probably did either way.)
The one thing we are likely to miss out on is koreans, which should come as no real surprise to anyone. There are probably 20-30 korean players who could be in the NASL in terms of skill, but they are not looking to make this a GSL0.5, not to mention there are some pretty harsh latnency issues between america and korea also. So inviting tons of koreans will make that a bigger factor in the tournament anyway, and there is really no way around that.
Alot of the mid range Koreans are in many ways top tier players (Top, Bomber., zenio ensnare, trickster, min , squirtle I Guess.) But most of them dont really have the individual showings(though alot of these players have shown they can roll with the best in teamleagues.)
But then again from the way Xeris is posting sarcasticly about koreans I would not be that suprised if there is some sort of twist here regarding koreans (possibly a slight change in bracket system to invite more, and/or possibly some sort of korean qualifier tournament to add in some extra slots or something along these lines.) Though I might completly off here =p
my 0.2 cents I guess.

Why do some people keep saying the last 10 will be Koreans? Was that leaked somewhere? Why do you expect this? Is this some people's way of trolling NASL (not a bad approach btw)? Are some people just in denial?
It doesn't seem logical, unless NASL is trolling hard.

After seeing the TSL results I'm feeling a lot better about the NASL roster.

for every 1 "underwhelmed" person, there are probably 10 people with the nerd chills i suspect. you cant make everyone happy. it was said that there were some koreans/ogs to be announced somewhere in the thread before by incontrol
