Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |

In fact aside from Select , Naniwa , Kiwi i dont really have any intrest in the other players like i wouldnt watch if they were playing against one another besides the players i listed.
dissapointed so far, although maybe these are the only north american invites and the rest are korean, that would be awesome lol :D
I do understand some of the other invites though, the ones i dont understand: catz, Kawaii Cloud, Cruncher (winning the v doesnt really mean that much IMO winning a tournament with 32 other top players does) and even Moon (there are sooo many koreans that are better that you could invite although he did well at IEM and has a huge Wc3 fan base , so i geuss so)
Ok one thing your wrong about is cruncher. He won a TL open to qualify for the TSL3 (that was like a 1048 player bracket) Oh i actually didnt even know he was in the TSL3 i must have overlooked him when i checked out the brackets, and although that is notable, its a qualifier if he did well in the TSL3 then thats a different story but he hasnt had a match yet.
Well he beat some notable players (I believe kiwikaki i might be wrong on this one, I know he beat fenix in the finals 3-0 in a bo5). he faces idra. He should lose as his pvz isn't that great but then zvp isn't Idra's strong point either.
As for Zlasher ok you say haypro doesn't deserve it and neither does kawaii. What has catz done recently that is better then haypro's/kawaii's recent accomplishments? Just curious if I am actually missing something on him.

those are 2 of the picks im most ok with to be honest. their recent form is great, just because they dont have the past of some of the other players they get put down, but recently you cant deny theyve been pretty prolific in taking big wins against top names.
im more worried about people like fenix and qxc who have seen a decline in form recently, whatever reasons for it.

The only game I saw from DarkforcE was a game on lost temple where the entire map was covered with spine crawlers, I havent tuned into any tournaments without GSL players ever since.

Don't count him out yet! Just pray lol. He is definitely up to par to play in the NASL.

NASL = NOT ABOUT SUCKING LESS. C'mon man, don't be a turd. 400k prize money, and those 15 players would make for a stacked tournament all of their own. No, of those 15 the players that are MUST watch IMO are Moon, Idra, and maybe Kiwi. Justin.TV invitational on SC2CASTS.com has about an equal lineup, so far. July, Boxer, Nada, MC, (even Ace) all have better credentials that those chosen so far. (so do Top, Ensnare, Squirtle, Rainbow)... Oh so you want the GSL? No, he wants a tournament of highly skilled players. You know, the best players in the world? Right.. He named all Koreans that can be found nightly watching a GSL. This isn't the GSL. That's my point, and it was never advertised to be the GSL. "BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD" I think we all remember that. None of us are asking for a Korean dominated tournament, but almost completely excluding them turns the NASL into the North American Average Player Starleague. If players like Darkforce, Catz, Cruncher and KawaiiRice get in, I also expect Nestea, July, MC, MVP, Boxer and Nada. This "Best Players in the World" talk is like crying because someone lied to you. Yeah they HYPED their new league, yeah they said the best players in the world would be there. So what? All leagues in the world say that! There are great players there, some of them probably ARE amongst the best in the world. Just accept it won't be all filled with Koreans and a few foreigners (cause any other combination would still be accused of not being the best in the world) and recognize the quality of players that are being invited. I don't want it to be filled with Koreans, but only ONE was announced among 15, some of whom are arguably not among the top players, even in their respective region. Like others, it is a little bit worrying that players like Darkforce (not even a top5 EU zerg in my book) can be invited where as some very good Koreans are cut.
This. Going by 1 Korean for every 15 means about 3-4 Koreans total which is laughable in my book.

Moon - top WC3 player, did very well at IEM Fenix - Made TSL3, pretty strong Terran IMO Kiwi - top protoss in NA quite possibly QXC - dude is a beast, just needs to make sure to get practice time in which I imagine he will. Before he went to Europe for school he hit the top of the NA ladder I believe. DarkForce - one of Europe's top Zerg's Cruncher - In TSL3, been owning "The V", has been on top of NA ladder I believe KawaiiRice - Very good NA Terran, solid builds and I think he keeps getting better Haypro - Who on TL doesn't belong in this, seriously. Just won the Pax East posting wins over Tyler and TLO Naniwa - top Euro protoss, definitely belongs. He has been playing really well as of late too SeleCT - top NA Terran, obvious choice HasuObs - been really impressed with his play lately, just took down Huk too Catz - a lot of people seem to be questioning this, but he is a very talented and creative Zerg player. Mass queens in the NASL? Yes please. Also a fan favorite Idra - one of the best Zergs in the world, obvious choice Socke - great protoss from Europe, always impressed with his play ClouD - has been posting some very nice results as of late. Not as familiar with him, but can't argue with what he's been doing lately.
To me the obvious choices were: Idra, Socke, SeleCT, HasuObs, Haypro, Naniwa, QXC, Moon, and Kiwi.
The rest are still really good choices that will give us some great games and definitely hold their own.
You agree with them until you find out who they had to leave out for these to be in. I guess we just have to wait and see, but it will be a damn shame if fan-favorites like artosis/grubby is left out=[
After watching the video of artosis on wcg usa finals, quitting his job each year to practice starcraft. How does he not deserve another shot. Im sure his skill level is atleast equal to alot of these invites, and would have a huge following.

What I don't really get is the why
why choose cruncher when u already got players from the us and this guy is not a fan favorite. why choose a haypro over another liquid guy(assuming not all of them are in) when u got like 5 players in sweden better then him. why choose a darkforce when u already got 2 germans and good zergs all over the continent.
and why choose all of them over a possible fan favorite from korea.
from my point of view their only goal can be to create the best experience for the user in order to get the most viewers. all about diversity. strong / underdog. korea / foreigner. different countries. different teams. different races. alright put some underdogs in there. but already 5/15? when u got the applications for more quality.
so fenix and catz a valid choices. so is loner (did he even apply?) as they all come from area whose people probably would not watch when there would not be a contender from their area.
donnu seems a bit odd. like the announcement seemed odd.
tl;dr: dont get why you ruin your player diversity in choosing redundant players i totally

All these fanbois wetting their pants because of some "questionable names". These are all players who have made an impact on the community and who have been at the top and performing well recently.
Im sure there are reasons as to why they pick the players they do, do you think they use a dart board or something? Theres still (edit 35 spots left so Im sure the ones deserving of a spot will get one more or less (excluding a bunch of Koreans).
All of this fucking whining is pissing me off (not really but seriously). These guys are investing in E-sports. They are trying to the best of their ability to give you more awesome starcraft content, for free!
Oh and btw, I'm not targeting the constructive critisizm and discussions regarding the players.

Yes, I would rather have 3 more GSL quality tournaments than a 17th Justin.TV/Reddit Invitational quality one.
I would rather watch July vs Nada 10 times, than Darkforce vs Cruncher once.
I want to watch the best players, playing on the highest level.
You want to watch people born in a certain area with a certain citizenship play SC? I don't see how nationality, race, language or culture affect the quality of SC play in any way.

hmmm i hardly understand all the hate here.
If it went just by skill, you would need to invite the whole gsl s class.
You cannot compare gsl and nasl 1:1. It is true gsl gives foreigners benefits to encourage to participate in gsl, BUT you need to move korea and give up on almost all other tourneys + home.
You do not have to do this for nasl, you can play from home.
Instead of giving the gsl-s class aother tourney i would much more see the rest of the world giving a stage of their own.

I don't understand why people are getting upset over these first 15 choices. There's still 35 other potential players who will undoubtedly be a balanced spread of nationalities and races played.

Hate to echo everyone in this thread, but there are some REALLY questionable invites. It's not an issue of "x doesn't deserve it", but rather one of "x got in OVER y". For every Cruncher/Haypro/Cloud that gets an invite, you're missing out bringing in a Grubby/Artosis-type player for the community or a korean for their skill or a unique player that brings drama/entertainment/etc.
Nobody that's been invited thus far is "bad", some of them are just very bland and take spots from far more interesting/better/unique players.
|
List is good so far. However im hoping for more koreans (10-15 total IMO is a good number to shoot for). But im liking the list so far, replace darkforce with morrow and cloud with sjow and it would have been near perfect for first 15 spots (minus some high profile koreans).
Inviting moon is a good idea. They can have the "koreans own white dudes" as well as his legendary wc3 status to build backstory/hype on, as well as justfication with his IEM performance.

Everything will be balanced and included. Aside from the most important factor being skill. I could care less about what nationality a person is as long as they are the best. That's the only reason to watch SC2 right? To see people do god-like things in a game we only wish we could do.

I dunno, I still think (with the exception of very few) this is a pretty decent first 15 in a non-korean rooted tournament. So far I'm happy but that's just me .
