Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |
It's sad that they didn't invite the best (or one of the best) foreigner zergs, just because he didn't know the exact deadline. I wished NASL would be a little more flexible.
Now it will be hard for the best foreigners to get in this league. What if Dimaga and Kas (or Adelscott, ToD, Thorzain, Jinro, Huk ...) have to play in an early round in the qualification-tournament? This is really bad

Even if there is some big names missing, it is just the first season. So all the good players can still qualify for the next season. They are trying their best so don't be too hard and support the esport if you are a true fan.

rules are rules i understand, but still i am sad for not having dimaga in NASL hes arguably best EU zerg and much better than all US zergs (except idra maybe)

Rules be damned hes a top3 foreigner zerg and reps himself in tourneys, unlike half the other invitees who just fly by on "pedigree" alone.
Also the link in the TL thing to "take a look at who applied" says nothing about the actual applications which from what I gather were handed in privately to the organisers and as such is fairly misleading.
Also I understand why you invited Rainbow but really hes the best you could choose from? he doesn't even have a big fanbase. Getting people in just because of the colour of their skin is pretty low.
I agree what you say about some of those players but.. skin color? At the moment there is overwhelming more white dudes then koreans. what are you smoking?

I really don't get how people keep bringing up painuser as someone who should be left out for other people. And clearly this league cares about rules and punctuality which is why they have the $250 deposit there, so if they can't even manage to do the very first and probably most important thing on time it should be pretty damn obvious that they are gonna be left out. So no it's not a travesty that Dimaga is being left.

Sadly, yes. The denial so far of inviting at least one of the best Korean players is extremely disrespectful to
a) the fans who'd rather seem them play instead of players like moman (still wondering how he's in) b) Koreans who made e-sports possible c) GSL who goes above and beyond in support of foreigners in Korea.
Fans everywhere are excited that Starcraft 2 is globalizing, even Koreans judging from the reactions. Yet, NASL has thus far taken a huge step backwards in the globalization of e-sports in general.
edit: but hey there's still 5 spots ... just somehow doubtful, though.

Get back to the real world. real world ? Well if it is a law firm and you want to work there chances are you aren't famous and you being late means you're not up for the job. But this is entertainment business, DIMAGA is a fan-favourite and he couldn't have possibly wanted to be late, especially if his video was one of the first like someone mentioned. His english isn't perfect or whatever,he might have had his reasons, but NASL will actually lose viewership because of this. Unless ViBe and Darkforce turn out to be former rockstars ...

Don't worry Dimaga fans (and I being one as well all the way back to the IEM when he ended up 3rd), I am sure he will win the 1024 tournament and get that 16th spot in the live finals and then go to win the whole thing :D. Then when NASL gives him a spot in the next season competition he will screw you naabs and go to play GSL :D

after todays gstl matches i am a big dimaga fan (did not know his play much earlier okk my fault) and very sad to learn that he applied late.

I'm guessing the players and the groups, in order, will be
morrow july nada mc boxer
That would make most sense as it would balance the racial and regional ratios and avoid team kills

Kas didn't apply at all.

Yeah sorry I jumped in the topic and didn't see the post it. My bad.

I'm sick of reading about people complaining about players who didn't even apply or couldn't hit a simple deadline not making it. If you complain about this nonsense you are getting banned from here on out.

I think the problem was Xeris posting that the deadline was extended by the week and not putting a define date and timezone.

I surely hope you are saving the best for last. Does anyone care what you think? If Minigun, Morrow, DeMuslim, and ThorZain are not part of the last 5, I will not support NASL. See how stupid it sounds? (not that I don't also want to see at least MC and Boxer) I agree that [bI will not support NASL] was a bit dramatic. But in all honestly if NASL wants to get off a good start, get viewers even from korea (which you want regardless of this tourney is for NA only, EU only, english speaking only or whatever) you need to have names that draws viewers. - BoxeR - You just can't deny the emperor a seat in this tourney. The PR value of having him in there is huge. - Nada - Read above - July - Read above - MC - 2 time GSL champion made an application, speaking english as well as he could. If the 2 time GSL champion, making an application, doesn't make it in then this tourney loses a lot of credibility. I don't care if MC's doesn't like Big Mac or drink Budweiser or doesn't show me what he does on his spare time or whatever way NASL wants us to "connect" with the players. 2 time GSL champion, considered to be the best player today, applying to NASL should of course without any doubt get in. I am CONVINCED the BoxeR, MC, July and Nada will get in. I was thinking the 5th to be Fruitdealer but now I'm not so sure. MorroW should get a seat also. it's an invitational, they don't want to oversaturate it with koreans, i guess you're not supporting tsl either because of no july? You just don't understand importance of players papaz mentioned. No fucking clue...Why the hell Rainbow was invited? What did he do to get invited? Nothing. Zenio? Nothing. Ensnare? Nothing. I really hope NASL will be a great tournament but so far, they have been disappointing in almost every aspect. Yes, I sound like a raging nerd of which I am not lol, but IMHO decisions made were rather questionable, like inviting ViBe, dde, etc over more popular players which will give more viewers. By not having DeMuslim (which is not 100% certain), we pretty much ignored UK's best player. Dimaga turned in his application late but I think it shouldn't have matter THAT much... Ignoring Eastern European and post-soviet countries here. Boxer,Nada,July (BW legends) will attract Korean viewers as well and having no-namers I stated above will hurt interest in Korea (Well, they might be invited anyways). Yea i dunno about ensnare, he even failed to qualify through the code a qualifiers this season =/ seems like they are taking lower end korean players , players that defently wouldnt increase viewership, rainbow is okay in my mind but zenio and ensnare are only okay, and leaving out top korean players in favor of these players boggles my mind, I totally dont get what these organizers are doing , they want to make money right? Then invite the best Mc July, and the most popular Nada Boxer, if that doesnt happen tommoro i dont know what to say. Im assuming tommoro will be Nada Boxer July Morrow, if not then =/ Ensnare is Code S [/b] Hmmm i think i must be getting him confused with cezanne woops . its a totally valid invite then my bad. Now that im not getting the 2 confused ensnare is actually an incredibly good terran and im glad they invited him, his beef with idra will be interesting.
Oh and like someone else pointed out the fact that incontrol is participating (and hes really not a top 50 player) although he is a commentator and figurehead of the NASL is a conflict of interest and somewhat disheartening that one really gets to me, but im pretty sure he will drop within the first 2 seasons ,right now there are more than 16 players who i dont consider top 50 necessarily so i think it will take 2 to 3 seasons for the league to stabilize and become the "best" players based on merit.
Unfortunately if the league isnt a success before then it wont go on anwyways. I think if they had a system that literally split up the players from each region fairly equally (maybe more players from na and eu) and decided based on achievements alone i dont think anyone could or would be complaining by doing this you wouldnt really be pissing anyone off as you could show the system of how you chose the players with the most bla bla bla finishes or players who have finished first in major tournaments , i dont see how they are going to explain some of these invites right now as some of them literally have no acheivments , machine has maybe 1 tournament he got second in and it was a small online tournament since the beta as an example, but i knew just by who was involved in making this tournament that he would be invited.
Obviously a qualifier tournament is the most fair but if your really stating your going to be inviting the 50 best players in the world then creating a system where the top 50 players with the most achievements get put into the tournament is the best way to go as you can explain exactly why everyone was chosen and no one can really argue. The way they have done it id say they have probably pissed off about 20% of their potential customer base ( could be a bit low or high but lots of ppl complaining) even if it was lower than that its still could be quite a substantial number of potential customers. Whereas doing it with an achievement based system that everyone could understand could have made everyone happy, clearly they are more worried about having their friends in the league than making it successful though =/

While I am sad that Dimaga and others didn't make it in I understand why and this is a good opportunity for some of the lesser known players to make names for themselves. Sure we don't know anything about them now, but how about we at least wait until the end of Season 1 before we start to pass judgement? Who knows, maybe this DDE fellow will go undefeated in his group, how are we to know?
|
A tad to much "foreigners" for my taste (with the self proclaimed goal to get _the best players_) but hey, who am i to judge? Lets see how Season 1 plays out, afterwards i can moan as much as i want! :D
//sidenote: Which notable foreigners are still left out? Who could be the last 5 people?
Right now i am missing a DeMuslim, MorroW and NightEnD the most.
Of course i would love to see more top notch koreans invited, but i'd also like so see the likes of Bomber or Min in here.
