Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied.

Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

incontrol in a relatively easy pool.
I have a dream, that some day I wouldn't see any imba comments in GSL threads.

Assuming ~10 Koreans at the end, looks like it'll be roughly 20% Korea / 40% NA / 40% EU, which feels pretty good to me.

Yeah, it's possible that they could have gone higher in terms of korean representation, but it's a pretty good place to start. Especially when you consider that half of koreas pros are not participating and that NASL might be a second priority behind GSL for some participants.

For comparison, TSL is 7 of 32 korean invites, or 21.8%. Sure, they could have just invited all of GSL Code S, but this way, we got cool foreigner-vs-korea stories, bigname foreigner-vs-bigname forerigner stories, and opportunities for relative sc2 no-names to prove themselves (thorzain, mondragon). It provided something different from the GSL while still being very good.

We have a group of 50 players with TONS of huge names, super-healthy representation from NA and EU, and a solid korean contingent. It is not a PERFECT list, but it is a damn fine list. I'm looking forward to some great games.

How do MoMaN, ViBE, dde, Artosis, Incontrol (probably a few others I can't think of right now too) deserve spots over anyone on this list?

I'd love to hear someone try to refute that

Because this is the North American star league and they speak english? I dunno. Part of the NASL brands itself to being "the best of the best" but another part equally brands itself to having personality, relateable players and exciting rivalry/backstories.

And those two parts directly oppose each other (for the most part). They need to decide which one it is, cause right now it's more so looking like the "personality/backstories/etc" part.

Obviously in a hype video they'll put in the statement "the best of the best", what the hell do you think they'd put? Have you not seen a marketing advertisement ever?? Why would they want to put "The somewhat good but not the best". Any company which markets a product will claim they have the best of the best....

As mentioned by many people before me, they are obviously going in a different direction than the GSL.. Its a north american star league, why would they want to fill that with Koreans? Why would they want an exact clone of the GSL? They are preaching to us that they want to revolutionize western e-sports. From what i can see so far, they want a tournament that supports the growth of western progamers. They want exciting backstories, rivalries and create a scene where everyone here can start to relate to even relatively unknown western progamers. They are helping these people build a brand for themselves in the community.. Sure there'll be a couple of Koreans mixed in so that the community will be hyped about upsets that are bound to come, but by and large, they want it to be comprised of a Foreigner progamer majority

Because when you sell something you always undersell and overdeliver. The other way around just results in disappointed customers.

Apple would dissagree with you.

IMHO I don't agree with selection of ViBe, MoMan, dde, Stalife and painuser being selected. They are not popular or most skilled players out there. Skipping Morrow, Dimaga, Boxer, Nada and Mondragon is not a wise choice :/

Anyways, hoping they will deliver, not fail like they did with Showmatch

lets hope people actually start supporting and respecting international players instead of idolizing and making excuses for whenever koreans lose against forgeiners... this isn't broodwar, the gap is way smaller at the top level.

People in the western hemisphere have brains too, and don't need to just blindly copy builds to get by. It'd be really nice to see people actually wanting to make esports a reality outside of korea, but the way a lot of people think is really discouraging and depressing.

Koreans are not invincible! -YET- why do I say YET? its simple, they are pulling ahead, not far ahead, just ahead. Because of events like GSL they can train a lot and have reachable goals that make it worth while for them to commit to the game. No one seems to complain that there isn't enough forgeiners in GSL, However, everyone likes complain and cry to make sure that Koreans are invited to events like TSL or NASL (NORTH AMERICAN STARLEAGUE).

I am not saying koreans should be just excluded from all international events, but the truth is, the only way to make esports successful is to create a competitive enviroment, where I am scared of playing KiWiKaKi not MC. Need our own 'stars' our own prizes and our own incentives on this side of the world. Need to create an enviroment where people aren't looking to move to korea, but instead move to this side of the map, like IdrA did.

There should be events like this one or WCG or many others where there are opportunities for people all over the world to face each other, but we need to create some sort of separation as an incentive to "foreigners" to train and improve in a similar enviroment as they have setup in korea.

You reading this are a 'foreigner'...but why are you the 'foreigner', is your brain less capable of producing quality strategy, are your hands too fat and slow by nature's default?

ffs lets stop being the foreigners.

Catz is so right about it. The most important thing is that we let e-sport grow in the west, we dont need to focus at the negative things. And we need something big to train and aim for in the west that is what matters...

And yet, the only way to do that is to have tournaments where foreigners compete with koreans. If you keep them apart, what would make people stop saying koreans are better? The only way to prove that's wrong is to keep showing respectable results on tournaments. I understand what he means but I really don't understand how separating both worlds would do anything to help his cause. He also doesn't say anything about how almost every player who goes to korea says his experience improves his ability and about team houses, that still don't really exist over here. Saying its only because there is a GSL and ignoring all the influence BW had in korea is oversimplifying things.

Plus, the whole "north american" tournament is just unreasonable.

You people need to learn to read and stop bringing up Dimaga since it's been well stated why he isn't in. Also Boxer has already basically been said to be in and Mondragon has played 2 games in tournaments in sc2? Yeah that totally means he deserves to be in, also you don't know whether Morrow and Nada will be in when the last 5 names tomorrow are listed or not

Oh man nice new additions! A few koreans to spice it up. Good to see ret in there as well. My guess about MC, NesTea, SuperNova is that they want to focus on the GSL and didn't apply to the NASL. I am excited to see who the last 5 are. BoxeR? NaDa? MKP? My guess would be BoxeR and maybe another IM and SlayerS member. Looking sweet anyway!

Most of oGs applied with VODS. Including MC, can't possibly see him not getting invited after all hi9s accomplishments and his personality in interviews lol.

I know what happened about Dimaga, but that's not much of a big deal to not let a player who is in GSL World vs Korea. Presence of Dimaga will definitely increase views in post-Soviet countries for sure, since I am from there myself
Mondragon is a legend from BW and I am pretty sure it will make BW players to watch SC2 tournament

I am just saying that ViBe, MoMan, dde, Stalife and painuser have nothing to offer, but no beef, good luck to those players.

And about catz' statement. Its somewhat true but claiming to have Best of Best is ignorant. If you wanna be best, compete with the best, who are absent from this list.

Of all the details about the NASL, I still don't know anything about the prizes. What do you get for becoming a champion? Does that $100,100 include $20,000 salary for Incontrol? $10,000 salary for other casters? Does it include all the little fees?

You don't know who PainUser is. 3rd @ MLG Dallas, 1st at Green Forest LAN - he's probably more accomplished than a lot of foreigners. And actually, saying "its not a big deal to just let him in" - actually it is. Someone who can't follow simple directions and get an application process probably also won't do a good job of, showing up on time every single week for his matches, etc.

There's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes than being good at the game.

Is Dimage well known for this? I'm not sure I'm genuinely asking. He has been around long enough that we shouldn't base our understanding of his character off of an application, it's not like he's an unknown player who is a giant questionmark.

If Dimaga has had no problems with being late for a match in the past and then you try to justify his exclusion because his late application implies he will be late for matches, I find that an extremely weak arguement given he is an established played with a tournament history.

Again, if he is known for this outside of this one slip up I understand, if not the argument needs more substance.
