SuperNova just won Code A, Bomber has won plenty outside the GSL, probably top player that hasn't managed to get into Code A/S so far, and is far better then some people IN Code S (rain)

Is HuK the one asking the questions in the oGs videos?
|
In my opinion if they're picking based primarily on skill they're going to have to pick a large amount of Koreans. Probably 80+% Koreans. I can't imagine being one of the guys who has to narrow this pool down to 50. Why not just start out with a massive preliminary of like 256 in which certain entertaining games are selected for casting, and every game past the round of 64 is cast?

Aw, TLO is so nicely dressed in his video... And I don't think TLO needs to apologies for not winning anything recently, everyone knows hes still got it!

Bomber is 4th in ELO rankings and supernova is 12th. It's not only GSL that gives you a solid record. Other tournaments exist too. Besides, bomber showed his skill in teamleaque and gisado, while supernova was a code finalist and beating out alicia in the process who took out mvp.

Ya I didn't watch Code A finals or team leagues. I guess they're good.

I don't envy whoever has to make those decisions. Obviously ALL of the Koreans who have and might potentially still apply won't be getting in. That would barely leave room for any foreigners. But some are obvious ones, like NaDa, July and MC. And I'd think a few more than that should ideally be let in.
Something like 10-15 Korean invites would be good, I think. Any lower than that and you'd have to exclude too many who actually took the effort to make a video of themselves in a language they either don't speak at all or probably not very well, something they knew would be public. That's no small thing. There is a significant number on TL who would prefer this tournament be all Korean because Koreans are the best players. Since its fairly easy to find 50 Koreans that are better than all the foreigners outside of Korea (code A > US+EU+Athene), you must have either an ALL-Korean league or no Koreans at all. Middle grounds, grey areas, and places where people meet half way do NOT exist! Anybody stating otherwise will be seen as biased and delusional. In other words, it sucks to be Xeris right now you are SO wrong about this code A > US+EU omg, you guys just think IEM prooved that, but why the hell didnt IdrA roflstomp all the players there, being a more than average CodeS player?
the top 5 players at iem had all been training in korea, how is that not proof?

I am pretty sure they won't pick purely on skill. I think that if you invite the best players from each region you can still claim to have a tournament with the best players. I am pretty sure everyone would love to see a pretty even split of Americas, Europes and Koreas best players duke it out (with some SEA players sprinkled in there ofcourse).

MC is such a fuckin boss. I'd be honored to get owned by him in the first round of a tournament. I'd put the replays on a floppy disk and ask him to sign it.

Well, he's the best random player in the world. :-) I do hope that he does play random..

NaDa has to be invited. He has the skill and probably the most touching backstory in pro-gaming.

I'm just wondering: wouldnt the NASL interfere with GSL schedules in korea? If players like MC or July are accepted, how are they supposed to manage NASL and GSL?

I loved the Korean Videos and hope to see more of them!

It seems like the Korean teams with foreign connections are the ones applying to NASL. Any StarTale member that makes it into the league owes Torch a dinner?
Also, I am fully in support of 5 oGs, 5 StarTale guys getting invited. NASL will be FAR FAR better with the added storyline of brave local heroes battling Korean bosses.

You're kinda asking for it with an invite league though Yea make some epic qualifiers and everyone would be happy no ones gonna complain because someone got eliminated from a qualifier. That being said with all these top tier koreans applying they better only take the best of the best from north america, people with results not just people who have funny application videos, if they take someone like pokebunny (they defenetly wont take him but someone like him) over a top tier korean i would be extremely dissapointed.

Scheduling the games can be done such that they happen inbetween gsl matches, especially since gsl matches on a per player basis don't tend to be an "every day of the week" thing. only the top 16 will require flying out to LA to play, and by then, the GSL schedule may be open or the non-NA players will need to make a decision as to when/if they go to LA. This is no different to any EU or NA player who doesn't live close to LA. potential conflicts can arise, they'll just have to make a choice should they make it to the ro16.
