Maybe he meant like a Mothership "rush" build? The first Mothership in the Squirtle vs MVP game was like 25 minutes in. HongUn's was about 11. Squirtle's was a Tech-incorporation after he hit 4 bases. HongUn went for a Mothership at the first possible opportunity. If you use Carriers, BCs, Ultralisks or Broodlords after 20 minutes, we don't say they were are part of your "Build"; they were a Tech option available. Going right from a 1-1-1 Build into a Cloaked Banshee is "Banshee Build". Getting them 15+ minutes into the game, is just using a Tech option. That's what he means.

Could it have been more obvious that HongUn wanted to throw the game? Mis-microing phoenixes everywhere, gimmicky tactics, etc. Stop crying. HongUn gave us a fun game, and yeah, he probably threw it to avoid a team kill. God forbid we see some lulzy stuff in the GSL when not too much is on the line. God forbid we actually see some competitive play between two players who want to win. Isn't that what this tournament is all about? No. Since it's also televised, it's also about entertainment. I think we got that in spades tonight.

God forbid we actually see some competitive play between two players who want to win. Isn't that what this tournament is all about? It doesn't seem right if players are losing their games on purpose. I realize that the context might be different from, say, something like the BW match-fixing scandals last year, but when players lose games on purpose, isn't that considered gaming the system / unfair / cheating? He definitely threw the match, but to even mention the Brood War match fixing is uncalled for. These players didn't both choose the winner and loser beforehand. Neither of them bet for themselves to lose, and there's nothing really secret about it. It's common place and fair game in tournaments. I've been in tournament events for card games where I was guaranteed to advance to the top 8 (finals-ish situation), but my friend was against me and wouldn't be in the running unless he won our match. I conceded so he could advance, even though I really beat him in our best of 3. Additionally, from the interview... HongUn : Check is my teammate and we know each other well so I want to face Jinro Probably worse than team killing is having to keep your strategies secret from someone who you live with, and I imagine that would be annoying and divide the team house into two where people can't help both of you because that would mean giving away all of your preparations. In every sense, it was the right choice for HungUn to lose, unless Prime was so unconfident that they thought it would be better to have someone in the Ro8 than a chance to have two people in the Ro8.

These things are quite common even in professional sports, when a team is already through the group stage they often field the reserve players for the last match. That doesn't mean they throw the game, they just don't want to overextend themselves.

What HongUn was doing was Showmanship. He has competitive reasons to hide his main-builds that he's likely to use later. Even Nada went for an older, extremely safe TvP build, which also hides what he might do later. HongUn just took it up a step and threw out a Mothership build he had in his pocket. If Nada hadn't attacked when he did, it might have actually worked, too, lol. Nada did the same on last GSL against Idra when they were both qualified for the next round doin that one base Thor Rush all in. And even so, losing to be strategically placed in a specific group happens in every sport with group qualification setup. Can't believe people are compairing that to cheating. =(
