The team leagues keep solid players who get eliminated early in the individual tournaments in the limelight instead of disappearing until the next individual tournament. It allows good players who are slumping a way to play out of their slump. It also allows race and map snipers who are good versus certain races and on certain maps a chance to shine.

We saw some awesome play from players we wont be seeing in the GSL at all this go round. I'm watching the finals again today, and its better the second time around.

Fantastic. Is this the pinnacle of SC2 gaming or just the beginning? With the new maps just coming out and 2 expansions on the way... it gets you excited. This was the first time I could legitimately say that SC2 was more fun than watching SC1. It's clearly all about the maps. I'll be interested to see how Blizzard adjusts to this... because balancing on small maps is very different than big maps. If they continue to balance for ladder maps it may create a big problem for big maps. Early on it seems Toss benefits the most from the big maps... maybe new strategies will develop but I'd hate to see a situation, if it became necessary, where Toss dominated the big maps but Blizzard couldn't nerf them because they'd become uncompetitive on small ladder maps. I also agree that GSTL is a far more interesting format than GSL. The camaraderie of the team and exuberance of the younger, developing players gives it more of a "sports" feeling.

Honestly it was so good, waiting for the pick after their lose, all the drama, very tight competition overall because team knows wich of their players can snipe others. It's very more exciting compared to the normal GSL.

That is like saying apples are better than fruits. I see what you are saying and I think that people should be more specific on the type of competition that they are talking about but too be fair I think they are just being simplistic by referring the solo comps as GSL and GSTL as the team comp and I think most people understand that. I belief the G in GSL, GSTL, GSL Open, GSL Code-S & GSL Code-A stands for 'Global'. While the S in GSL, GSTL, GSL Code-S, GSL Code-A stands for StarCraft 2. Back to the topic of the thread. I think that the level of entertainment in the grand final is through the roof and I am excited at how well the startale guys will do in the upcoming GSL Mar. Like most people in the thread I too would like to see a bigger GSTL. I hope the success of this GSTL will allow GOM to gain some sponsors for upcoming GSTL so that it will be bigger and more fun than before.
