It helps a little but you are always one step behind. You have to take a huge gamble and be AHEAD of the protoss instead of reacting. Someone like Nestea or Fruitdealer could pull it off I guess.

I think TLO's plan was to push down toward the back of Fenix's base where he had the turret up ready to detect Banshees. Just wasn't expecting to get caught transferring down there.

If the rules are standard then you can't make conditional racepicks. Both players announce their race before knowing the opponent's race (though of course you usually know the opponent's race).
