You better practise ZvZ!

Oh wait..

seriously though, I enjoy many TvTs a lot. Its so much about positioning and area control.
I do not obey any norms. I redefine standard with every thought I make.

The European Championship has started a few months ago with 24 players competing in it in an online group stage (before that we had national and international qualification).

There were several Zerg and Protoss players in here, many others have failed to qualify this far:

http://www.esl-world.net/masters/season5/europe_sc2/

This is what a "natural selection" of players throughout the tournament has brought us: 10 Ts and 2 Ps. While we would prefer a more balanced race distribution, those are the best players in the tournament so far. Each of those 12 players has played 5 or more matches to get to the live final.

Like it or not, this reflects the state of the game in Europe over the months that have gone by. We would rather wait for the balance of the game to change than to discriminate against players who have earned their place among the 12 best in the continent fair and square.

The way the race distribution ended up being is pretty sad but I 100% agree with this. This was a good way to do it, it's just that europe has been entirely dominated by terrans, only recently protoss has been doing well too. I'm sure next year with the exact same system the race distribution will be much better.

Man, I hope you guys like TvT. This Terran-heavy player pool could seriously hamper the popularity of the eventual stream as many people will get tired of the matchup. But as Carmac said, there's nothing they can (or should) do, these are the players that have qualified for the tournament fair and square.

Also, is it true that the Gom people are looking at IEM results to determine some of the GSL Code A invitees? Because that'd would up the ante considerably, even with the big prize pool as-is.

In any case, good luck to all the players! I'll definitely be watching. :D

having kulas and desert instead of jungle shak in the mappool also helped in lowering the z and p numbers for sure

Well isnt desert a much better map for zerg than jungle? I think what played a bigger role was that the first qualification rounds were played before the zerg buff (4 range roach and stuff). But even if played now there probably wouldnt be much more zergs. I could only see Dimaga and Morrow having a chance, others would need a lot of luck.

Well at least most of the good EU terrans for sure. No Zerg makes me sad though.

Could somebody maybe add this to the calendar? Would be sad, if this event went unnoticed by some because it didn't show up on the right side.

If I'd have to chose a mirror than I'd say TvT is the most exciting one, but I don't think it's the "balance" that matters here but more the maps that people in SC2.

We need to get custom maps into the big leagues to be able to see more of the other races.
