IMO voidrays would have done better since they are cheaper and are built faster, at least early on, but what killed him is that his phoenix were clumped up and the Thors would just ROLL through the light-armor they have, which means Vikings wouldn't be destroyed, which means Carriers would be very exposed. Ideally, Voidrays would be the best counter, but in the middle of all that pressure MC wouldn't have a chance to think about it and would respond badly. Since he wasnt prepared to deal with the composition, he tried a fast non-sentry 4warpgate, which comes out faster than sentry-based ones since it requires less gas, and it went badly although it dealt enough damage to not be a full allin. He didn't throw the game, he was just disoriented since he had no idea of how to deal with mech-based play on a PvT. Just like nobody knew how to deal with his voidray pushes when using bio-based play. I feel the factor that decided it was that Jinro managed to scout the carriers and prep accordingly , any stargate play gets shutdown by marines + vikings, so Jinro would've done the same response either way. | ||

They were intense games which literally could have went either way. Jinro just got the better of him by better eco harass in G1, and better 4gate stopping / scouting of carriers in G2. Amazing game by Jinro. | ||

Just like nobody knew how to deal with his voidray pushes when using bio-based play. I have to disagree that void rays would've been the best counter. Sure, we would give MC the benefit of the doubt and say that he would've micro'ed them to prevent clumping and taking excessive damage from the Thor splash damage, but even without the splash damage, he was going up against a sizable thor army and 12+ vikings. This army can easily wittle down the void rays before enough of them become fully charged. In the end, I think MC would've fared better with some high templars in the mix. You can see how the vikings were all initially extremely clumped up, and with their slow acceleration rates, a couple storms would've taken down their hp considerably and forced a retreat, leaving carriers/phoenixes more protected to do damage. Also, going the twilight route would've opened up chargelots upgrade which would've also done good, cost-effective damage against thors (dealing damage + soaking up thor dps for immortals to do their higher damage). | ||

Just my two cents I agree, this thread took a really mean spirited turn considering the relationship of the two players. Idra versus Clide is one thing. But Jinro and MC another IMO. A little more class wouldn't hurt in situations like this. As the TL community we should also look out for oGs too in a sense since they are like our starcraft-sibling lol. | ||
