I wonder if people like you actually believe this....
It would be amazing if you did.

I just finished watching last night's game a moment ago & was blown away by the quality of the play by all parties. I usually try not to become emotionally involved when watching sports (too many lean years as a Red Sox fan in college), but when Check's zerglings ran past Jinro's not-quite wall-off, I bellowed in pain and sent the dog & gf running. Outside of the Idra/Ensnare game, I was on the edge of my seat for most of the evening.
And I'll admit that the pretentious little shit in me giggled at Artosis's theory on the origins of the term "butterfly effect" as well as Tasteless talking about all of the alligators in Australia.
|
I sacrificed 4 hours of sleep to watch this live and it was definitely time well spent. There were so many tense, exciting games, topped off by a somewhat satisfying result. It's a pity that Ensnare and Check, who also brought great play to the field, had to be knocked out, but such is competition, and I'm definitely happy to see our foreigners make it further.
Jinro, keep using whatever words you want. We all love you and your amazing management style.

I'm Canadian and I was certainly not offended, although I'd never expect to hear that language on tv or radio here.
And really (to 0neder), I think casual swearing like this is the least offensive way that you can say "fuck." There's just...nobody to be offended. It's self-criticism. Not only that, but it's clear that Jinro isn't a weak mind trying to express himself forcibly, because he's not trying to express himself forcibly (and because he had the mental stamina for that game, holy hell). He's leaning back in his chair and talking to a friend about how the games went, he's not trying to insult or persuade anybody. I'd understand it if you opposed the swearing on the grounds of potentially scaring away sponsors or just general moral reasons, but your point doesn't actually apply to this situation. Swear words are just words. They're not so one-dimensional as you make them out to be.
(Still so excited from that game yessssss. Jinro I need to go to sleep, why did you do that.)

Although e-sports isn't big enough yet for this to be an "issue", I think if Jinro and other professional players want to promote the game to a global audience, they should take all cultures into account even though they may not think it's offensive.

I agree, but if e-sports does grow into an economic force, this will take care of itself through media intervention. It's not as though baseball or football players censor themselves in locker room interviews; the press does that for them through judicious edits.
Anyway, I can't remember a more exciting round of games, even excepting the fact that two of the players were from the west.

Have you ever seen a pro gamer fail with their wall in a pro game (BW)? It shouldn't happen. Period. As a matter of fact, I HAVE. The recent game against firebathero and great, I believe. 6 or 8 lings run right past his wall-in rax and pound him down into oblivion. Not a true building block, but let's not forget the WCG Korea finals, last match Flash vs. Jaedong where Flash failed to block his ramp with SCVs, allowing jaedong to pass by and demolish him. A couple examples and I'm not even hardcore. Point is.. it DOES happen. gL jinro, you got this. XD Lol, micro mistakes versus simple building placement. Come on. You dont seriously think I intentionally placed the factory where I did, do you? I know how to wall, I tested how to wall, I just misplaced it.
Don't feel too bad about it, you won in the end afterall . I've seen IloveOov do the same thing in a televised game that let lings run through and kill him. And even after that mistake you still made a hell of a game out of it and almost overcame the macro disadvantage. Your TvT game was inspiring. It's gotta take some serious focus to play a game like that. You never let up the entire game. It was awesome. Congrats and good luck with the rest of the tourney!

I hope I can express what I feel correctly : you Americans need to quit being so puritan about everything, geez...
So he said "fuck", big deal.
This reminds me of the drama that followed the Janet Jackson's boobie episode, who the hell cares if we saw a boob on TV?
I don't mean to offend anybody, or to start a EU vs US war by any means, I just hope you guys at least realize how ridiculous this prudish behaviour looks to everyone who is not American.

I agree. Next interview I hope you switch every verb with fuck just to stick it to overly sensitive americans.

How Christian of you guys, caring about the use of profanity. It's a language, fuck is just as much a part of the language as monkey balls.
Though, a lot of parents don't like the use of my language. They see cursing as "disrespectful", I on the other hand show enough respect. Respect is earned by action not verbal communication. Why do you think people gain respect for each other after they beat the fuck out of each other in a war? I rarely see two people yelling at one another gain respect for either party.
Monkey balls.

There is no differentation people just put a stronger weighting on 1 word for some reason, and it also comes down to context as well. It's silly.

The funny thing is the word would have no power if people didn't give it power. So the only reason it's viewed as "wrong" is because people perceive it to be "wrong". Society is just immature like that.

Jinro, Im American and honestly would have said the exact same thing u did, who cares about cuss words really? Is there some ten year old kid in California watching SC2 at 8 in the morning? Well maybe, but most likely not lol. All i have to say is when u win, you can say whatever the hell you wanna say.
