Hi Guys,

Tonight ESL will once more host the monthly final of the well known Go4sc2 Series. I'll be commentating this together with Benjamin "EGDeMusliM" Baker, my roommate , the players qualified for tonight are :

EmpireDiestar vs TMC.Druzdil
DarkForce vs Satiini
Strelok vs Loz
MorroW vs EmpireKas
Mana vs Delphi
TMC.Kakashi vs Adellscott
Empire.Naniwa vs Moman
Aures vs Tarson

We start at 17:00 CET and ofcourse hope you'll be tuning in, the winner of the tournament will walk away with €; 500 . Tarson won the November edition so let's see if he can go back to back :D.

Cheers! <3

Naniwa and Kas are doing really well lately, so I think they are the favorites. I'm rooting for Darkforce, but I don't think that he will go very far.

Anyone of the usual names could win it, after catching strelok's play yesterday I'd put him as favourite today. Beating whitera 3-0 is no easy task. The winner of naniwa/tarson will make the final in my eyes. Should be some awesome games, but more importantly, awesome casts from rotti + demuslim :D

The Premium stream is at own3d.tv and not octoshape, so I highly recommend to get that.
You can use the premium anyway for Take's homestory cup.

Btw just hearing Demuslim babbling about how he should be consulted about the system change in EPS as he made such a big committment by moving to germany, I get the feeling he takes himself way too imortant.

I think there are groups instead of a league-system where everyone plays against everyone.

Demuslim talked about the team house, EG put up in korea and that he has ne fixed date, where he moves to korea. it won´t be in the next weeks, he said.

I think there are groups instead of a league-system where everyone plays against everyone.

Indeed.
The old system was simply way too costly in relation to the games shown.
There were like 8 games played at the same time. ESL had to pay for all, while broadcasting only 2 of them.
New System with groups is more luck based and has less games, therefore worse for the players. But its better for ESL as its less costly and will probably also lead to more viewers as individual games are more important.

Btw the change was even more about counterstrike than sc2, so Demuslims idea that he has to be consulted before any change is just delusional.

Ah here is the new system:
http://eslgfx.net/media/de/news/2010/eps/EPS18_system.jpg

the old system was league -> 4 player final tournament with a loser bracket

The chances that the 4 best players will get to the semi-finals are definitely lower than before.

Such an amazing stream/event. Kevin+Ben at the studio following and switching between multiple games. It's a waste that no stream is listed as "on air" on TL. I bet that a lot of people are missing out on this because of that.

Felt I had to register because it seems no one else gives a shit.

The stream is crap, octoshape is soaking up ALL upstream bandwidth, its totally unacceptable, I cant do anything else while watching this stream.

*edit*

Before anyone is trying to be a smart ass.

Yes I know its a free stream, and no I am not gonna buy some premium ESL account to watch this stream.

Yeah, octoshape is kinda shitty. However, esl has said that they are moving away from octoshape, I thought they had already took it away

Rotterdam seem reluctant to switch to the Strelok-Morrow game. He keeps talking about switching, but he never does.

EDIT: Aha, he just said he loves Protoss, perhaps that is why!

Never had any problems with octoshape and therefor can't understand people's complains. And premium costs like 2€, so I understand it even less. That's more than worth it for such a good lineup.

Both are great as always. :D Best caster duo imo.

I'm really curious to see it as well. Naniwa could show his worth for once, which would be a win. Mana can win it, which would be a win as well. Or Naniwa does ugly builds. That would make me sad.

I like most matchups except the ones involving terrans pulling scvs. Maybe I just haven't seen enough to shun them though.

Yeah. Sadly Strelok's mechanics didn't hold up against DieStar in the end though. Would have been much closer then.

It's ok, and for him to not offer a regame and istead just take a win is acceptable but most players would give a re in that case... Can't blame him though, a win is a win no matter how you get it...

Its is true, mana did loose the series had Naniwa not Dcd there. Naniwa would have won that 100% because there would have been no way that he could defend that cannon rush. It WAS bad sportsmanship to take a win there.

nani, he wasnt out in the cannon game. the upper pylon wouldve been dead before the cannons were up.
furthermore his zealots couldve reached the cannons (nice gateway playement) i think. it was no clear win + you wouldnt give Mana such a win if you could decide.

and to say that he tried to abuse the fact you might lag out speaks for your silly thoughts how ppl are.
Not everyone is like u.

I agree that you were in a good position and probably feels that you deserve the win but it's unfair to Mana if his right to play out the game is taken away due to something that is not his fault. I understand your sentiment though and probably most people will feel the same way.

But..

Well played by Mana, i couldnt play a long game because i would disconnect to 99% , which he abused perfectly by making it into a long game

This is a weird statement. Are you saying that because of your internet then it is not ethical for him to want to play long games and instead he has to all-in everytime. Restricting what your opponent can or cannot do in a game due to non technical issues will make the games not legit.
That seems like a weird logic to me.

You are probably the only person in the world who sees it that way. It "might" have been different if the disc hat been on Manas part. But you can not build to pylons and a forge, disconnect, and then expect to get a win.
Actually I am kind of hoping you are writing this just to troll and to live up to your image. If you are indeed serious you are displaying a lack of inability to see stuff from a logical and non-biased view that makes you look quite stupid.

Why are you trying so hard to destroy your image and build a bad reputation? Did Mana tell you that he drew the game out because of your connection problems or where does that come from? Someone said that you are going to be trying to leave a better impression with people and become more professional and after reading the "Well played" I thought, well maybe he is on the right track now. But then you showed your true self and that you have learned nothing.

You have talent. Learn some manners to complement it instead of throwing your chance away with stuff like this.

im curious about one thing: they seem to host esl like every day but it says "monthly", whats the point? where can I get whole info on the tourney?
if its a german tourney, why do they speak english only?

P.S. thanks for the casting guys

nani, he wasnt out in the cannon game. the upper pylon wouldve been dead before the cannons were up.
furthermore his zealots couldve reached the cannons (nice gateway playement) i think. it was no clear win + you wouldnt give Mana such a win if you could decide.

and to say that he tried to abuse the fact you might lag out speaks for your silly thoughts how ppl are.
Not everyone is like u.

I dont like arguing on TL and i dont expect lower players to understand the game to the extent i do , ( No arrogance intended ) his zealots could NOT have reached my canonns because his pylon was in the way ( you obviously havent seen the game )

and if he woudlve killed my pylon on the top ( Which he wouldnt ) I still had space to reinforce with two more pylons. If you do not understand this then there is no value in discussing

if the zealots couldnt have reached you are indeed right, since only 1 probe could attack the 2nd pylon.

and actually im a 3.4k toss i do understand a lot about the game.

Amazing play by both players. It was unfortunate what happened due to lag.

Nani is just angry that he was fooled to no end by Mana. I would've also been if I was in his place.
His "speech" doesn't make sense at all. Just drop the subject and enjoy the games.

it's the decision of the admins if a default win is awarded or not. if you don't get the default win although even the casters admitted that it looked pretty good for you you just have to accept it and not "play out of your rage and fury". you should know that better than anyone here...

the cups are for everyone!
there are wednesday go4sc2 cups [no prize money, just points] and sunday go4sc2 cups [200€ for winner, more points], the streams on that are sometimes german and sometimes english - or even both.

the best 16 players play out the monthly final, casted in english.

Will there be a VOD or replay of the disconnect game being discussed? Tuned in late and would like to see it.

Actually, it seems that according to the rules the player who didn't drop can decide whether he wants to regame or have an admin evaluate the situation

Regardless, as I said earlier, Mana would have lost

Is there a stream that doesn't require octoshape? I uninstalled it ages ago and can't be bothered to get it again for one/half a series.

MaNa 3:0 DieStar.

Unfortunately not only MaNa played really good, but DieStar kind of underperformed :-/

Just finished uploading all replays -
http://www.esl.eu/eu/sc2/go4sc2/monthly_finals_december2010/rankings/

Some amazing games to watch there.

For those asking about tarson, he had to be default lossed out, he was ill this morning according to his manager, and after 2hours of trying to wait and get in touch with him, we was left with no other option

I definitely recommended the TvT on scrap between strelok/diestar. I only caught half of it but it looked a wonderful game and around a 45min TvT that wasn't just stalemate tanks.

Well played to everyone today, especially the winner! Thanks to rotterdam/demuslim for casting, and I missed the dual casting due to hosting the games, but that seemed to get great reviews from everyone, definitely a thing to keep trying if the timings are correct :D

The double-game casting was really good I thought, there is so much time to fill while people set up their defensive expansions or terrans face-off with tanks, that rather filling it up with mindless chat (which is actually good with these 2 casters, but in general not) switching over to another high-level game to catch an engagement there is really nice.

With a bit of luck you get the best bits of 2 matches and skip out the boring parts - brilliant. And at the worst you get an instant update on one match right after watching good things happen in the other anyway...

That is hardly negative :D

Too bad Druzdil was matched against DieStar and Tarson couldn't play. We would've filled whole Ro4. :D

Great games, great casting.

Loved the casting as well, brilliant guys.

Hope to this more of this dual-cast thing although it had been improvised on the post you carried it on well in the following rounds.

Hope some other casters can learn from that for big events. (especially in the first rounds)

Shame Tarson and Aurres had to be defaulted and I'm sorry about Nani's Internet issues, but otherwise some great games in this!
