UNICEF is a great charity -- if you want, you can ask for your contribution to be sent to the ORT (oral re-hydration therapy) fund. It's a fantastic charity which uses your money to buy 10 cent packets of salts, which are desperately needed in third world countries where millions of children die every year from dysentery -- a completely treatable ailment which is unavoidable in some regions.

10 cents = 1 loss of life prevented. How many lives will you save?
