Only 2 of the top 8 quake players are native english speakers and all of them make for good interviews.

That's fucking ridiculous. No, It was a three way tie, so they played again, but they drawed the rematches, so then they decided to flip a coin. You make it sound like this was someone's bright on-the-spot idea. It was in the rules, no?

LOL! My bad, yeah some ladder Terrans maybe. But as a Protoss player myself, I couldn't help but highlight just how awesome that was. Because there are little things more annoying than a Terran scanning and destroying your observer which is right over their army.

Haizzz, T won, so sad for Protoss.

Despite some great games in the final bracket this tournament was plagued with disaster after disaster:
- BO1 group stage - Cheesefest with shit like ActionJesuz getting through to the finals.
What makes me extra pissed about this is that from what I've heard Dreamhack was under no real time pressure, so this junk was uncalled for.
- Interviewers from hell - Being a swede, I usually take pride in that most swedes know how to speak decent English, but it seems like the Dreamhack organizers confused that with them knowing good English.
It was a long time since I've been as embarrassed by people on stage like I was during the interviews not handled by Day[9].
- Sponsorship bullshit - Having people move from their seats between games is annoying and makes for an irritating distraction. Having a guy (with annoying as fuck swenglish) incite a miniature riot amongst a group of greedy teenagers makes for such an embarrassment that it's hard to grasp.
- Prize ceremony from the seventh circle of hell - I don't even know where to start with this piece of shit. I got the impression of there being absolutely no thought or planning put into it.
Giant prize pool AND hardware? Really?? Do your sponsors need to plug themselves that hard, that they don't get the fact that posters, stickers, shoutouts, etc. substitutes hardware? Heighten the prize pool if marketing is an issue! Handouts while players are still standing there? I must be forgetting things, but I'm in too much of a shock to care.
This crap made lose a good bit of hope in having non-European players come here more often. Seriously.
P.S. Having fellow countryman Bischu knocked out of the tournament on coin toss makes me angry to no end too.

You've got +- 5 days to watch replays of your opponent, knowing him inside and out, looking for patterns etc. You know the maps beforehand, can skip the others in practice.
At a tournament like MLG/Dreamhack you just need to keep on winning game after game against a selection of very strong players, having little time to prepare between each game, clear your mind after each game and that all on a 3 day basis. Fatigue inevitably comes into play which doesn't help and there's the fact that qualifiers/groupstage is bo1 puts huge stress on your back (only in dreamhack).
don't know if you're aware of this, but dreamhack is first and foremost a LAN. Meaning that the tournament can't work like tournaments running for A MONTH. I just don't understand the purpose of your post..'Tis all... It was more an answer to those who say the lvl of play @ GSL is SO MUCH better than the games we've seen this weekend, I gave possible causes for it.
I'll ignore the fact GSL is filled with imba Koreans :p

Anyway, wasnt here today, is dreamhack over now? Who won?

Damn that series was soo intense, efter the first two games i was afraid that Naama was going to take it 3-0 but the third game was soo good. Really got me pumped up watching MaNa hold of that slow tank+bunker push. And then it just got epic...
And i think that MaNa was saved by the map too. Since the same banshee into siege-slowpush won him all the other maps. And didnt seem to be so great on XC where you can't contain ppl at teh natural in the same way.
Cheers to Naama well deserved win

BO1s in group stage is the standard and 3 BO1s is actually generally better than 1 BO3 as there's less bracket variance. Obviously the coin flipping is stupid, however.

A lot of the sc2 players are new to tournaments and big lans unlike the quake 3 guys who have been going to tournaments for years.
The quake players are quite awesome though :D

Disaster with HW as part of prices and handouts from sponsors? Wow, you are really sensitive.
They do this at the GSL to, watch the scene in the background during the last minutes of a GSL day. Nothing strange about it, and even more common at lans like dreamhack.

Isn't that James '2gd' Harding? If that's the case, you're being trolled completely.

It might have been the fact that so much embarrassing stuff piled up at the same time, but to me having the players stand there holding boxes made it look like it was some kindergarten handouts (especially TOP and Fenix who didn't get much). This could have been handled off-stage, no need to make them look awkward like that.
Maybe I am sensitive, but that's probably because Dreamhack is really the only Swedish event that has any international relevance for e-sports, and I don't want the reputation of it getting spoiled by organizers not putting the extra thought into it (or them not seeing the errors happening).
