but there's still a big luck factor in 1v1, especially the maps/starting locations/match ups. i wish we could have a sc2 pro-league... winner-stays-on team versus team series would be godlike.

At that point just flip the coin in the first place. Your system is terrible and requires a tie breaker just to setup a tie breaker. The rules were in there before it started, the players knew them, unfortunately that is how it played out. Next time win your pool matches(or at least go 2-1) and it doesn't matter then. By going 1-2 you risk putting yourself in a situation where the tie breaker could play out this way. The only way something like this isn't fair is if say someone went 3-0, did what was asked, and then lost on a coin flip. If you go 1-2 you have nobody to blame but yourself. Win and your in. Checking what actually happened before posting often stops one from typing stupid things. They all went 2-1 in the groupstages you know, and even if they all went 1-2 and had a playoff for the last spot it's still stupid to claim that a coinflip is a good way to solve this just because you "deserve" to be out when you lose two games. If they all deserve to be out, why not just give another groupwinner a bye in the Ro16? Yeah, that sounds smart...

If they all deserve to be out, why not just give another groupwinner a bye in the Ro16? Yeah, that sounds smart... I just mistyped the records it doesn't change what I said. I didn't say you don't deserve to move on if you lose games, just that the easy solution is don't put yourself in a situation where a tie breaker could come into play. That is how it is in sports all the time when it comes to a tie breaker. Tie breakers have to be used in sports/e-sports and when there are time constraints sometimes they can't just play it out forever. And even if they were to play it out, things could be unfair such as the map pool etc. My point was, the players knew the tie breaker going into the event it wasn't randomly decided on the spot, and there was a time constraint they were working with. Obviously a coin flip isn't ideal but neither is some made up system where a/b/c are playing a different number of games to decide who the winner is. You didn't propose a better system, just criticized the one that was used. In an ideal world they can just keep playing it out until the tie is broken but the time wasn't there to do that. What else could be used? Score differential from the game? Maybe the total time it took to beat the opponent? There isn't a lot of options aside from playing more games, and when playing more games isn't an option then coin flip. If you don't get this it is simply because you have no understanding of how sports work, and how this situation happens all the time in sports where unideal tie breakers are used because of certain constraints that exist. Players/Teams get screwed often you see it from High School sports to NCAA tournament selection to the pros. But if you win your conference/pool/division/etc. you don't have to worry about it, so the easy solution is just don't be in that situation. Furthermore when arguing your point calling someone stupid repeatedly for their opinion probably doesn't help either. Also just watched the AJ/Tyler game 2 again. Very entertaining.
