What are you talking about?
Bo3 is the standard in the group stage. It was done at -every- IEM event.
Dreamhack's silly Bo1 Group stage is the exception, not the rule.

Does anyone know where I can find a VoD of the finals. Its not on Day9s blip...

The only bad things were really the BO1 round robin in group stages ( cmon that was really silly ), and the swenglish host. Once it got to BO3 stage it was great, and the english commentators were great as well ( day9/apollo and tb ).

Bo1 group stage has been done in BW for years

Hoping DaHanG will be able to make it exciting, fearing a blowout though.

No one likes the coin-flip, least of all the DH admins, but you can't have matches going on for ever in the group stage. ESL uses the same rule iirc.

bo1 in the groupstage was done because there was originally supposed to be only 16 players and not 32. Again, it's all about lack of time.

A vs B loser vs C (winner vs first winner)
It's not entirely fair but it's a lot better than a coinflip and it's only 2-3 extra games.

They do this at the GSL to, watch the scene in the background during the last minutes of a GSL day. Nothing strange about it, and even more common at lans like dreamhack. Sensitive? It might have been the fact that so much embarrassing stuff piled up at the same time, but to me having the players stand there holding boxes made it look like it was some kindergarten handouts (especially TOP and Fenix who didn't get much). This could have been handled off-stage, no need to make them look awkward like that. Maybe I am sensitive, but that's probably because Dreamhack is really the only Swedish event that has any international relevance for e-sports, and I don't want the reputation of it getting spoiled by organizers not putting the extra thought into it (or them not seeing the errors happening).
Well if you want any prizepool to talk of the sponsors need to get sponsortime. Didnt loog that awkward to me.
The only issuse I had with the tournament was the BO1 in groups and the coinflip but I bet it gets better next time.
Great with a free HD-stream and that most of the games got casted. Great work by shoutcast and GLHF tv casting the groupstages.

There are better ways to do it though.

Um.. that is less fair than a coin flip IMO at least that gives everyone equal shot. How do you decide who is a/b/c? A coin flip? At that point just flip the coin in the first place. Your system is terrible and requires a tie breaker just to setup a tie breaker.
The rules were in there before it started, the players knew them, unfortunately that is how it played out. Next time win your pool matches(or at least go 2-1) and it doesn't matter then. By going 1-2 you risk putting yourself in a situation where the tie breaker could play out this way. The only way something like this isn't fair is if say someone went 3-0, did what was asked, and then lost on a coin flip. If you go 1-2 you have nobody to blame but yourself. Win and your in.

I don't know about the BO1, but DreamHack is a LAN and thus can't spend too much time. I guess they could've ran multiple games at once, but I'm no organizer.
Something that deeply annoyed me was however the swedish announcer. God I hated that guy. Fortunately they came to their senses and partly replaced him with Day[9].

I for once LOVED the cheesefest in the group stage and the heavy macro games played later on. Sure the lvl of play could have been higher, but I seriously doubt it could have been more entertaining. GSL has been a snoozefest in comparison. At least up til now. The best part is that we had an awesome final between Naama and Mana.

So...
A wins vs B B wins vs C A wins vs B again.
it's now A 2-0, B 1-2 and C 0-1, who should go on?

I'd guess they tried to organize it so that the main casters always had a game waiting for them, to entertain the crowd and give sponsors as much airtime as possible. Other than that, I have no idea why some games had to wait for so damn long to get a admin approval to start -_-.
On another note... anyone know if/when SVT will have their VODS up? I was driving to my parents and missed the HuK and TLO interview T.T

Woot I voted for the Socke/Naama group on the frontpage poll. I didn't think they'd do THAT well, but I'm happy for my vote.

Game 2 is at 1hr47 in that video btw.

Going back to the event:
Having cooled of a bit, I must say that there were good points to this event that I'd like to see returning for the next iteration of Dreamhack. The fact that there were a lot of great games made it enjoyable to follow. The streams were of really good quality and very stable. Following the events felt easy with this, I only wish that more tournaments have this stable streams in the future. The main stage was satisfyingly big, something that made the games more intense. The crowd was also cheering frequently so the amazing plays were that much more exciting. I really enjoyed the casting of the games too.
As I said earlier, this event has a lot of potential, and I'd really like to see the issues ironed out so that Dreamhack becomes a staple tournament for SC2 in the future, it would be so nice to see.
