Otherwhise i hope IdrA improves his ZvZ and will own and of course the Protoss players show a nice performance, first so that we don't see that much TvT and ZvZ (my least favorite MUs) and that people don't argue so much about balance.

GSL 2 qualifier was before the patch. Doesn't matter patch or no patch it was a zerg favored map. Just making the point that with all the QQ about the maps it has been in the map pool so it isn't like players aren't prepared for it or know that it is coming. How many times did Zerg catch close positions on Met? That is a tough one as well. Only 23.9% of players participating in qualifiers players were Zerg, after qualifiers 42.2% of the players remaining were Zerg. You don't have to be an expert in statistics to see that this is well out of the margin of error. This is true if we know how matchups went. Do we know how many toss players knocked out other toss players? Do we know if they try to evenly distribute races throughout the brackets? I don't know, I'm just asking. Once again, simple stats like that only tell the tale to some extent. It is also random brackets, so it can be pure luck that some better players had a tougher road and some weaker players had an easier road, and that can change those stats regardless of race. With only a 64 player pool we are taking these percents from you don't have to be a statistics expert to know that the sample size is actually quite small... If you were in a college stats class and you presented this argument to your teacher they'd poke so many holes in it you'd fail your assignment. On the contrary the stats released by blizzard the other day based on overall and diamond winning percentages is probably to the other extreme, to big of a sample and to much margin of error in that. What I'd love to see is the winning percents of the top 20% of the MMR by region. That would probably be a more accurate way of seeing how top players are fairing against various races.

Btw does anybody know who ST.BoogieBoy is? Just a high ranked player who will crumble to the pressure inside the booth or somebody known within the scene?

I think he'll continue to do poorly next year and be one of the first players to get knocked out of S-Class. Who are you to judge him like this ? His play at the GOMtv stuff for clans was really good.

I would not be surprised if it was some sort of crazy all in or cheese keeping him out of the GSL. edit: was stated above me ><

If we take these statistics into account, Zerg is doing way better than expected assuming a balanced game on a balanced map and players of even skill level or any N -> positive infinity of players with random levels of skill. fixed. You balance games around the idea that anyone has an equal chance of winning. How skillfull players are in comparison can never be determined objectively. Race distribution: Terran : 39.5% Protoss : 33% Zerg : 23.9% Random : 3.6% Qualified: Terran: 37.5 % Protoss: 18.75 % Zerg: 42.2 % Random: 1.55 % Only 23.9% of players participating in qualifiers players were Zerg, after qualifiers 42.2% of the players remaining were Zerg. You don't have to be an expert in statistics to see that the sample size is so small that it is well within the margin of error. We're talking about ~1500 players that try to qualify. I'd say that's a large enough sample to have at least some statistical relevance.

I don't think being cheesed is an excuse to not qualify 2 gsl's in a row, all the other big names from gsl1 have made all 3. It's not like he's loosing to eventual semi-finalists either, PoltPrime fizzled out in ro64 afaik and i'm sure the unknown he lost to this time round won't go further than the Ro32.
